This is the Domain of Bayan, now the ninth level of the Abyss, a kingdom ruled by a powerful and evil demon lord, the Flame Demon Queen.
It consists of a primary plane with an unusually active fire element, along with three secondary demiplanes that house slaves and provide food.
The total number of lives across the four planes, exceeding one hundred thousand, were all subjects and slaves of that demon lord, living entirely under her shadow.
Such realms are quite common in the abyss, where no one knew the specific dimensions of the space before; they are just one of the hundreds of planes that are not worth mentioning.
But now it is just one of the sixteen dimensional realms controlled by demons.
After the gods fell into slumber, supernatural beings with faith were most severely affected. The most direct impact was that priests who lost their spiritual connection with the gods were no longer able to use many divine spells.
But it wasn't just the poor wretches who were affected; even beings like demons, who didn't believe in gods, were also impacted to some extent.
The most obvious change is that the demons' stronghold, the Abyss, has shrunk significantly.
The abyss, which was once composed of multiple planes, underwent a tremendous change. A large number of planes shrank and disappeared, along with the demons that had not managed to escape.
In that cataclysmic upheaval, even legendary powers were not as strong as imagined and were swept away.
When everything finally settled down, the entire abyss shrank to only one percent of its original size.
The current abyss is far from enough for hundreds of thousands or even millions of demons. In the struggle for territory, the demons have engaged in extremely fierce battles.
Countless demons perished in that turmoil, and the number of demons, exceeding one million, was reduced by more than half in the frenzied fighting.
Even now, the horrific scenes left behind in two demon kingdoms remain from that time.
One is the third level, the Kingdom of Bones, where countless demon skeletons remain and undead creatures born from them are born, and it is ruled by the most powerful undead demon born from it.
One is the fourth layer, a vast ocean of blood, formed by the convergence of countless demon blood. It contains not only a strong corrosive stench but also various undigested flesh and blood.
What's particularly special is that the fourth level, the ocean of blood, is the only plane without a clearly defined lord; the several demon lords that have existed in the past have all mysteriously disappeared.
There are rumors that a special being was born deep within a sea of blood.
No one knows whether the rumors are true or false, but the unique nature of the Blood Letter Ocean gives it some special uses, and neighboring planes will throw all kinds of "garbage and debris" into it for disposal.
As for how many of their compatriots died, the demons didn't care; that concept simply didn't exist in their minds.
die?
In the abyss, is death not inevitable?
From the moment a demon is born from the pool of blood in the abyss, its life is filled with countless deaths and slaughter.
Demons like succubi, who only enjoy unconventional battles, are extremely rare and can be considered oddities among demons.
But even succubi are only relatively warlike compared to other demons; to others, they are just as brutal and bloodthirsty.
For most demons, their lives are either spent taking the lives of others to evolve, or becoming nourishment for others.
There was no other choice.
Slaughter, death, strife, blood and fire... these are all perfectly normal for the demons living in the abyss, and they have no reason to feel sorrow for them.
The only things the demon lords care about are how much power and territory they have gained, and how much their strength has increased.
Below the Demon Lord, there is a large group of demons eyeing the Lord's position with covetous eyes, eager to overthrow the one in power.
No matter how the world changes, struggle, fighting, and death will always be the unchanging essence of the deepest abyss.
The fact that she was able to stand out among so many powerful demons, compete for the title of Demon Lord in the next plane, speaks volumes about the Fire Demon Queen's own strength.
But that doesn’t mean she was a wise lord.
Although she had some special interests in other demon lords, she maintained the demon's usual brutality in ruling, governing the kingdom with bloodshed and terror.
As her offspring, Karan was both fortunate and unfortunate.
Fortunately, with the bloodline of a half-demon lord, Karan did not encounter many obstacles in improving her strength, allowing her to touch the threshold of a legendary demon at such a young age.
Unfortunately, this bloodline is only half complete.
Karan doesn't know who her father is. From the time she can remember, she has lived in a demiplane... with other slaves.
She was unaware that she was the offspring of the ruler of this kingdom, and no one was secretly protecting her.
She was like a discarded toy, thrown directly into that demiplane and left to fend for herself.
Karan lived alone from the very beginning, as one of the slaves.
Although they were called slaves, most of them were actually mixed-race individuals born from ancestors for various reasons, possessing varying degrees of demonic blood.
That was a chaotic and evil world where order simply didn't exist.
Although slaves suffered much oppression and unfair treatment because of their status, this does not mean that these ignorant and uncivilized people deserve much sympathy.
Especially when those guys have demon blood flowing in their veins!
The strong, in their anger, draw their swords against the stronger; the weak, in their anger, draw their swords against the weaker.
