He mustered the last of his strength and struggled to his feet, his body swaying from side to side, but he managed to stand up.
The man who strode closer stopped as he watched the boy get up from the ground. He clicked his tongue in regret and then flicked the whip in his hand.
Snap!
"Get up and get to work! What are you standing there for?!"
Even from a distance of several meters, the burly man glared angrily at the boy, then turned to look in another direction and shouted:
"Hey! What are you looking at? Do you want to die?"
"And you lot, still want to watch the show? Get to work!!!"
"If you slack off again, I'll send you all to an abandoned camp!"
The boy didn't know what the abandoned camp the other person was talking about was, but he instinctively remained silent.
"And you! If I see you slacking off again, you'll be sorry!"
"snort!"
After speaking, the burly man swaggered toward the door.
The boy stood still, his face hidden in the shadows, his eyes calmly and silently watching the burly man pass through the iron gate.
Clang.
There was no resentful stare, nor any angry shouts in the direction they left; they simply stood silently.
Suddenly, in the darkness, the boy sensed other eyes watching him.
He turned his head to look into the darkness, his calm gaze sweeping across the scene, only to see pairs of similar eyes.
Those dim eyes held neither fear nor the will to survive, but only a deathly stillness, as if they had given up on everything.
They looked at each other, but neither of them spoke.
Just as those people were about to look away, the boy broke the silence.
"who I am?"
Who am I?
