Chapter Five: Talking to Oneself

"Young man, I have high hopes for you!"

A mocking voice suddenly rang out in the room, startling Ning Feng, who had just relaxed, and he quickly grabbed the doorknob!

"Did the gods really awaken? But didn't the ritual fail?"

"No, that's not right! Has something else been attracted here?"

Ning Feng couldn't find an answer, but whatever it was, given their current state, leaving this place was definitely the right thing to do...

Click!

The doorknob made a loud noise, and the door, which had been open, now seemed to be welded into the frame and could not be pulled open at all.

The barrier that disappeared the moment the succubus died seems to have reappeared, silently separating the inside and outside of the door into two worlds.

"Don't be in such a hurry to leave! It's not like it's a monster, what are you afraid of?"

A surprised voice sounded from behind, filled with confusion. The speaker seemed to not understand Ning Feng's sudden action.

"Or are you looking down on them?"

"If that happens, I'll cry, waaaaah..."

The fake crying, devoid of any emotion and filled with perfunctory and mocking tone, echoed in the blood-stained room, sounding particularly eerie and jarring at this moment.

With his back to the altar and the sound of weeping echoing in his ears, Ning Feng's face turned grim.

The slight sense of pride he felt for killing the succubus vanished without a trace at that moment.

Although it was a sneak attack, no one can say that he didn't try his best to kill a supernatural creature as an ordinary person without being seriously injured.

Seizing the opportunity, trading blows, and using feints—the assassination attempt just now had minor flaws, but none of them were serious. Ning Feng had basically done the best he could.

Unfortunately, in this secluded chamber, there are no bystanders to cheer him on... well, there seems to be one, but he doesn't count.

Reality isn't about fighting monsters and completing levels. There are no rewards for defeating enemies, and other enemies won't wait for you at the next story point when you're at full health and strength to come and attack you.

They'll swarm you when you're weak and chop you into minced meat.

"Did I get a script for being an extra who only gets filmed once the shoot starts? This is so sad."

With a soft sigh, Ning Feng suddenly calmed down, inwardly mocking himself:

"This time, it seems like it's really coming to an end."

When faced with a succubus who wanted to sacrifice him, Ning Feng was extremely nervous, fearing that a single mistake would lead him to an abyss of no return.

But now, facing an unknown being who is likely connected to the gods, Ning Feng has calmed down.

He wasn't hoping for a future where the other party would let him go after playing him for a fool; the feeling of completely handing over his life to someone else was unpleasant.

Ning Feng had only come to understand one thing...

The gap in strength is too large; panicking won't help.

Whether you stick your neck out or not, you'll still get stabbed, so you might as well make your death more spectacular.

Is that all that can be done now?

perish together.

This is not because Ning Feng suddenly became fearless of death, but rather a warning written on the title page of the Watchers' Guidebook.

"Don't let yourself become a weapon in the hands of the enemy."

The soul can be manipulated.

If you don't want your soul to be tortured and reformed after falling into the hands of others, the best way is to end your own life before you fall into the worst possible situation.

This is not difficult for an awakened person, but for Ning Feng in his current state, there are not many ways to end his own life.

Alternatively, he could throw the Holy Flame into the pile of flesh and blood, and then with a bang... Ning Feng didn't know whether others would die or not, but he himself was definitely doomed.

Alternatively, you could just churn out the Holy Flame; that would be the same as being finished anyway.

Ning Feng held the holy flame in his hand, paused for a moment, and then slowly released it.

"No, it's not the final moment yet."

After all, they've been reincarnated and have some kind of cheat code; even if they're not perfect, they still have to try.

"That's a last resort, until then..."

It won't hurt to communicate; what if a miracle happens?

Having made up her mind, Ning calmly turned around, showing no sign of wavering.

But this feigned composure shattered completely when he looked towards the center of the room.

Ning Feng's pupils contracted in an instant!

!!

The altar on the ground remained in its dilapidated state, but the rest of the room had undergone tremendous changes.

If the horrific scene in the room before was still within the realm of bloody slaughter, then this moment is as surreal as a nightmare coming to life.

Drops of blood seeped from the floor, walls, and even the ceiling, floating towards the center and disappearing into the patterns on the altar.

The severed limbs seemed to come alive as they gradually wriggled and gathered in the center, the flesh and blood within them shriveling the moment they touched the texture.

The stench of decay subsided, and all that remained in the room were fragments of a dried corpse, as if it had been sun-dried in the desert; not a single drop of blood remained.

Ning Feng tightened his grip on the Holy Flame, realizing that his imagination was still not rich enough in the face of beings with truly extraordinary power.

"The lack of blood seems to disappoint you?"

Ning Feng's expression was very satisfied, and his voice was full of pleasure:

"Hey young man, don't be so suicidal! Why are you always thinking about dying together? Survival is the most important thing!"

The other party knew what Ning Feng was thinking from the beginning, but did not stop him at all.

He simply waited patiently for him to make a decision after enduring immense suffering there, relishing his momentary panic and helplessness.
