Chapter Seventy-Six: Beyond Redemption and the Promise

Ning Feng's words brought Jiang Wan, who was shocked by the current situation, back to her senses. Her expression shifted, and she felt a sense of realization.

"He is no longer himself, but a puppet."

A new hope seemed to ignite in his eyes, finding a sliver of solace amidst despair and anger.

What I just said wasn't just for Li Tiandu, but also mostly for Jiang Wan.

Jiang Wan may seem carefree, but she is actually very thoughtful and even somewhat extreme in her emotional attachments.

Ning Feng didn't expect to make her completely accept the current situation with just a few words, but he just wanted to stabilize her emotions and prevent her from collapsing on the spot.

To this end, Ning Feng even fully activated his corrupting charm ability to make Jiang Wan believe his words even more.

We'll talk about the details later.

They will definitely have a future...

Ning Feng came for this very reason!

But Li Tiandu shook his head and said frankly:

"You mean a puppet? Unfortunately, I am not a puppet of the gods."

Ning Feng raised an eyebrow, finding it somewhat amusing, and shrugged:

"I'm telling you, even now, you don't still think we're really easy children to fool, do you?"

Even now, are you still trying to mislead us?

"No, although you may have some misunderstanding about my situation, I really have not become a puppet of the gods."

"All the choices I made were my own decisions, and that is no exaggeration."

Holding the black tome in his arms, Li Tiandu floated upwards with a slight flutter of his four wings, bathing his body in the moonlight streaming down from above.

"I simply heard the call of the gods and understood the truth of the world!"

He held the book high in his hands and began to speak:

"The path to salvation lies within this!"

"Come, child, come to me."

Oh.

"You might as well not have said anything, because now the situation is even worse!"

Ning Feng scoffed at his behavior and retorted:

"You're well aware of the education we received at Watchmen, aren't you?"

"To be loyal to humanity, to be loyal to the world, to be loyal to oneself... This is the oath that every Watcher must remember."

"We survive in this cruel world not because of the charity of the gods!"

The will that generations of Watchers have upheld cannot be broken by a traitor's few words!

Knowing full well the nature of the Watchers, Li Tiandu lowered his head without changing his expression and asked in return:

"Perhaps entrusting you to Yan Rulong was a mistake. Have you ever considered this question..."

"Do guardians symbolize justice? Do gods necessarily represent evil?"

"Who decides all of this?"

"What binds you is not only your actions, but also your thoughts."

“You don’t understand, that’s okay, God loves the world.”

"Even a lost child like you will be reborn in His embrace."

Li Tiandu spoke faster and faster, exuding an aura that made people involuntarily believe him.

Enveloped by the light, Margaret and her companion, stripped of their power by the chains of shadow, fell into a coma.

But Ning Feng remained unaffected, responding coldly:

"God does not love people. If He truly loved you, why wouldn't He simply send them back to you?"

His aura calmed, and the aged fallen angel, with deep and distant eyes, quietly said:

"This is a trial, a test of my loyalty."

"……Yeah?"

Ning Feng nodded somewhat listlessly. He had guessed this answer, but he still felt regretful.

"Indeed, you can't be described as stupid at all now."

There is no cure.

"never mind……"

Ning Feng had had enough of continuing this riddle-like conversation with Li Tiandu. His plan to make Li Tiandu realize the truth had already fallen apart before it even took shape.

There's only one thing left to do.

Let this all end between the two of us.

"By the way, this is not a request."

He clapped his hands, and a bright light began to emanate from his body. The shadow chains binding Margaret and the others instantly loosened, and he dragged them quickly to Jiang Wan's side.

Turning his head, Ning Feng smiled gently at Jiang Wan and said softly:

"I'll handle things here. Take your teammates and leave first."

no!

Jiang Wan was about to refuse, but she stopped before she could speak because of Ning Feng's calm and gentle gaze.

Sensing Jiang Wan's strong resistance, Ning Feng raised his hand and gently ruffled her disheveled white hair, which was messed up from the battle, and said softly:

"Be good, listen to me."

"Don't worry, I won't die. You won't have the chance to read my eulogy."

"Trust me, I would never lie to you."

Feeling the powerful aura emanating from him, Jiang Wan didn't know where this power came from, but she knew he must have paid a price.

Perhaps, it will come at an unimaginable cost.

Looking deeply into Ning Feng's eyes, seeing the familiar calm in his bloodshot eyes, Jiang Wan took a deep breath and gritted her teeth.

Without arguing or crying, she demonstrated the behavior a soldier should exhibit on the battlefield.

Jiang Wan helped the unconscious Margaret and Yun Shuchang to their feet, then retreated out of the church without looking back.

However, just before leaving, Jiang Wan turned to Ning Feng and said:

"Don't die carelessly."

"And... I have something to tell you later."
