Chapter Sixty-Six: The Dream of Depravity

Lin Shuang fell asleep.

As she stepped into her home and felt relieved, she fell into a dream and collapsed at the doorway.

Then, she, who never dreamed, dreamed of a strange scene.

A strange perspective.

She seemed to be suspended high in the sky, looking straight at the ground from an immobile perspective.

Looking down on the neighborhood where I grew up from a completely new perspective.

The place where I grew up doesn't seem to be so perfect either.

I witnessed the darkness, violence, poverty, and depravity unfolding in the corners...

These things are hidden beneath a glamorous surface and are usually deliberately ignored, but that doesn't mean they don't exist.

That's not all.

At this moment, the city is filled with many strange figures.

They exuded different auras, but each of them seemed like a superhero described only in novels, moving up and down through the steel jungle.

They chased each other, unleashing their power and spreading destruction and death.

Subconsciously, Lin Shuang felt a deep sadness about this.

Why use this power to kill each other?

Why?

Then, Lin Shuang sensed other thoughts!

Anger, helplessness, disgust, shame... tens of thousands of thoughts flooded into my mind like a torrent, leaving my brain blank.

The next instant, before she could react, an invisible force pulled her into a new place.

Heaven.

The only word that came to Lin Shuang's mind when she saw this was this.

The city is still the same city, but it has undergone tremendous changes.

The sky was azure, the air was fresh, and the sunlight gently bathed everyone.

Everyone wore a happy smile; they were all enjoying their fulfilling lives.

Everything was so harmonious and friendly.

And there are no strange beings with supernatural powers.

Simply pray to our Lord.

A calm voice rang out, and a kind elder dressed in white robes, reminiscent of a clergyman, appeared.

He shrouded his face in a pure white hood and slowly said:

All of this will come to pass.

Really?

Lin Shuang hesitated subconsciously for a moment. She had never believed in God before, and many people around her did not have faith as a spiritual support.

She doesn't dislike the concept of faith, but she genuinely doesn't believe that gods truly exist.

Because I've never seen it, I don't believe it.

My Lord, there is no lie.

Naturally, she chose to believe.

What should we do then?

This isn't just her problem; everyone who comes here asks the same question.

The old man nodded slowly and said:

[As long as those people disappear...]

boom!

Before the old man could finish speaking, just as she was about to hear the answer, a violent roar caused everything to flash before her eyes!

Lin Shuang momentarily returned to her previous perspective of looking vertically at the ground, but then quickly reverted to her previous one.

She felt very uncomfortable; she sensed a foreign object entering her body.

It rampaged around inside with an overbearing attitude and without any sense of reason.

No!

But before Lin Shuang could get angry, she saw a man who seemed completely out of place in the paradise world.

Its back was adorned with bat wings and a long tail, and its entire body was ablaze with dark red flames, emanating a strange aura.

His presence seemed to form a stark and striking contrast with the old man.

One represents light, and the other represents darkness.

But strangely, looking at this figure that suddenly barged in, Lin Shuang had a strange thought.

"...He's really handsome."

and……

"Will he become one of us too?"

Lin Shuang changed her mind at some point and began to refer to herself as "we," while also including the thoughts of everyone else.

The devilish man did not back down despite everyone's gaze. He first glanced at the old man, then surveyed the world around him.

He will agree with us.

He will also become one of us.

Before she could think much about it, Lin Shuang realized something was wrong; she sensed the other person's emotions!

But it wasn't the familiar pain, anger, sorrow, or desire...

He carried none of the negative emotions that each of them carried.

There wasn't even any positive emotion associated with light.

There was nothing there.

It was completely empty.

The other party did not seem to be a living being at all, but rather a cold, inorganic machine.

For no apparent reason, Lin Shuang felt fear.

She didn't know where this feeling came from, but the dream that was about to sink into oblivion had indeed developed cracks.

In a perfect dream where everyone is happy and everyone is smiling, an uninvited guest intrudes.

He was stern and unsmiling, unaffected by others, and simply observed everything with a cold gaze.

Like scrutinizing.

Like contempt.

Then, he smiled.

But it wasn't the same satisfied smile as everyone else's.

Instead, he made no attempt to hide his contempt, displaying a disdainful smile.

"...That's it?"

...?

Everyone heard what the man said.

He said:

"So, this is your wish? This is what you call the prayer of all living beings?"

"This is too...isn't it?"

Something was deliberately omitted, but the stimulating effect was not diminished at all; tens of thousands of souls instantly went berserk.

If it were just verbal mockery, it would be fine, but their current state is hard to understand, so it has almost no effect.
