Chapter 3: Chatting, but Intentional

Chapter 3: Chatting, but Intentional

If a cow doesn't move for half a year, its cheeks will become sore if it chews grass in large mouthfuls.

Running back and forth all day was extremely tiring for Lin Jin, who had hardly moved for years.

I fell asleep almost as soon as I hit the bed that night.

When I woke up the next day, there were still birds singing outside and the morning sun was still gentle.

After a quick wash, I went out to the living room and ran into Mu Xu who was about to go out. He rubbed his eyes and asked, "Are you going to work?"

Mu Xu paused when he heard that, turned around and glanced at him, hummed softly, and walked towards him. He seemed to want to raise his hand to touch something, but finally put it down and reminded him, "There are lines on the neckline."

Lin Jin lowered his head when he heard that. At the wide collar of his clothes, a thread that had been broken due to the clothes being used for too long hung there quietly.

He hummed, brushed it off, and ignored it.

Then he followed Mu Xu into the kitchen, and followed him out of the kitchen empty-handed. He watched him put breakfast on the table one by one, and then asked, "Haven't you had breakfast yet?"

Mu Xu pulled out a chair, motioned him to sit over, and said, "Eat it, it's yours."

After that, he asked again, "Is there anything you want to do today?"

Lin Jin sat down and thanked him, took a piece of bread, thought for a moment and said truthfully, "No."

Mu Xu said yes and discussed quietly: "If you go out, can you tell me?"

After he finished speaking, he lowered his eyes and saw Lin Jin nod, then he went out.

Mu Xu's home was very bright. Besides the balcony, there was also a floor-to-ceiling window. Perhaps Mu Xu had drawn the curtains when he woke up in the morning, but only halfway on each side, leaving no space for the sun to shine in.

Not too dark and not too bright.

Warm.

It was completely different from his house where the curtains were always drawn.

While eating breakfast, Lin Jin stared at the sofa area bathed in sunlight. For some reason, he suddenly felt that it would be very comfortable. So he quickly finished his breakfast, cleaned up, and sat down quietly in that area.

Like a cat basking in the sun, he curled up there, squinting his eyes comfortably.

This area was just as he had imagined.

The warm sunlight shone on his skin, and it was as if his entire body was immersed in a river of warm sunshine, and even his bones felt soft.

Lin Jin blinked, his long, thick eyelashes gleaming in the light, a beautiful and delicate sight. His eyelids drooped slightly in a long-awaited comfort, a hint of sleepiness barely visible.

But he didn't fall asleep. Instead, he was in a daze, thinking about things sleepily.

Now that the marriage certificate was in hand, the next most important thing was to meet Aunt Mu. He had to find a way to cheer her up and calm her down. Secondly, he had to get Mu Xu to find a partner and give up the idea of suicide.

Although Mu Xu did not take the initiative to mention visiting his aunt after getting the marriage certificate, he still had to go.

Because the only way is to make my aunt happy as soon as possible and help Mu Xu find a partner.

He could then get back on the bridge.

Lin Jin was just thinking about Mu Xu when the latter called him via video. The sudden ringing instantly caught his attention.

Lin Jin didn’t know why Mu Xu didn’t send a message but directly dialed the video, but he still answered it.

The moment the call was connected, Mu Xu's handsome features appeared on the screen. He stared at Lin Jin on the phone for a long moment before saying, "Teacher Lin, are you a sunflower? You're full of sunshine."

Lin Jin looked at the sunlight shining on his body. His skin was already white, and now it was even whiter.

He blinked and explained seriously: "I'm basking in the sun."

Mu Xu smiled and said, "Yeah, it looks good."

Lin Jin noticed that Mu Xu always spoke sweet nothings before others could react. Even words that might come across as glib or harassing, when delivered softly and with a calm, gentle tone, seemed doting and affectionate.

He was already feeling warm from the sunshine, and being praised like this made him even warmer, his cheeks instantly turning rosy.

Lin Jin sighed helplessly, but then said indulgently, "You."

Seeing that the other person was already embarrassed and afraid that he would be hung up the next second, Mu Xu stopped teasing him and turned the camera around.

He was preparing to cross the zebra crossing to the teaching building opposite.

Purple-leaf plum trees were planted on both sides of the teaching building. It was the season, and the leaves of the purple-leaf plum trees were scattered all over the ground. There were a few leaves scattered on the new zebra crossing. As Mu Xu walked to the bottom of the teaching building, the ground was covered with orange-red fallen leaves.

With the unique bleakness of autumn.

The camera shakes.

In a moment, a fat orange cat jumped out from the simple convenience store below the teaching building. It passed through several people and ran directly to Mu Xu's feet, meowing and rubbing against him clingingly. Every time Mu Xu moved, it would move a few steps with him.

Mu Xu's deep and pleasant voice came slowly: "Teacher Lin, it seems that it doesn't want me to go to class."

Lin Jin didn't respond to him immediately.

From the moment the orange cat appeared on camera, his eyes lit up instantly. When this convenience store was still under their college years ago, Lin Jin loved playing with this cat.

At that time, he was in low spirits and had a small social circle. The only things he had long-term contact with were this cat and the snack street outside the school.

After graduation, he never saw the cat again.

He looked at her carefully for a long time and sighed, "She has grown up a lot."

"Really?" Mu Xu paused while touching it, opened his palm and gestured, saying, "It really is."

Lin Jin was fascinated by what he saw. He just quietly watched the orange cat squinting its eyes comfortably under Mu Xu's caress, and rubbing against him from time to time.

Mu Xu didn't say anything else. He just touched and patted Lin Jin's delicate face with his eyes lowered.

It wasn't until a student passed by and greeted Mu Xu that Lin Jin's thoughts returned to normal.

He looked at the clock and said, "It's almost time for class."

Mu Xu then stood up and walked slowly towards the classroom, but he did not forget to tease Lin Jin: "Teacher Lin, it seems like we are going to be late, what should we do?"

As soon as Lin Jin heard his tone, he knew he was joking and silently curled up the corners of his mouth.

Mu Xu smiled, his low and deep voice was particularly bewitching, and some students passing by couldn't help but tremble in their hearts.

Mu Xu glanced at the classroom at the end of the corridor, slowed down his pace, and asked, "Teacher Lin, do you want to attend my class?" Before Lin Jin could refuse, he continued, "The first time I taught, I was so nervous that my hands were shaking. I had to click on the PowerPoint presentation several times before I could even open it."

He talked nonsense naturally yet exaggeratedly.

Fortunately, no one who knew him was passing by at the time. Otherwise, if they had heard this bullshit, they would probably have suspected that they had a mental problem. Otherwise, how could they hear the otherworldly and taciturn teacher Mu performing crosstalk in public?

Either they are crazy, or the world is about to be destroyed.

Fortunately, no one else heard this nonsense. The only person who heard it, although a little bit unbelievable, still believed it. Not only did they believe it, but they also racked their brains to try to comfort Mu Xu who was talking nonsense.

"Luckily I finished the speech smoothly. Now I'm not afraid anymore, which is great."
