23. Night 23 Birthday
When Arsenal was about to fall to the ground, Lu Xi had already walked up to him and held him down to prevent him from losing control again.
Arsenal calmed down and noticed the various debris scattered around him. His eyes suddenly widened and were filled with fear.
"I didn't do it, no..." Perhaps feeling that he couldn't fool Lu Xi, he bit his lip and lowered his head, "I didn't mean to do it."
Lu Xi sighed. This was not the first time that the little mermaid had gone berserk. She asked the steward to dismiss these people, then bent down and picked him up. The little mermaid seemed to have grown a little bigger and become heavier during this period.
"I don't want you to hold me, your wound..." Arsenal had calmed down, but when she held him, his eyes suddenly turned red again.
"If you don't move, it won't hurt."
Lu Xi did not use her injured arm, but used the other arm to support his body and carried him into the room. The little mermaid's clothes had many holes in them, and she had to check his wounds.
Lu Xi carefully unbuttoned his shirt. She'd assumed he'd be covered in wounds, given the rips. But she only saw a few bleeding scratches on his shoulder and collarbone. Could it be that after awakening, his physical strength had increased, so the glass fragments couldn't hurt him anymore?
"Does it hurt?" Her fingertips touched the wound.
The little mermaid's body trembled, and the places where he was touched turned red. He bit his lip and his eyes became hazy and moist.
"Let me get you some medicine." Lu Xi stood up.
She disinfected his wound and then applied medicine to it. The slightly spicy ointment made his body tremble slightly, and he was obviously in pain.
"Don't be so stupid next time."
I've never seen anyone like him who always hurts himself. It was like this before at the villa, and it was like this this time too.
Assente didn't say anything, and it was unclear whether he had heard it or not.
When Lu Xi finished applying the cream and was about to put it back, she just stood up and was hugged from behind by the mermaid. He clung to her waist and asked in panic, "Where are you going, Miss Lu Xi?"
She sighed softly, "Put the medicine back."
"Can you put it on later?"
Lu Xi noticed his uneasiness. She put the medicine on the bedside cabinet and turned to look at him sitting on the bed.
The little mermaid got up from her, but her fingers were still tugging at the hem of her clothes. She lowered her head and whispered, "I'm sorry."
"This morning, I didn't mean to..." The "intentional" here refers to the fact that he hurt her and that he yelled at her angrily.
He lowered his head, "Don't be angry..."
"I'm not angry." Lu Xi said.
"I'm not angry, why did Miss Lu Xi leave?"
Arsente clenched his fists. If those people hadn't gone to look for her, Miss Lu Xi would not have come back.
"I said, I want to go out for a walk."
"No, you're lying..." he said accusingly. "They said you weren't at the lake and they couldn't see you anywhere."
Lu Xi: “…”
"I just want to change places to relax."
Arsenal still didn't believe it and stared at her.
Lu Xi knew that it was useless to say anything now. If it was useful, he would not have escaped before, and he would not have gone berserk just now.
"I will work hard to become stronger." He looked into Lu Xi's eyes and said firmly, "Better than them all, more powerful."
So, don't abandon him anymore.
…
The next day, Lu Muru came over.
"Is the cub okay?"
The old woman started by asking Assente why the grandmother hadn't even greeted her granddaughter after not seeing her for so many days.
"Yeah." Lu Xi responded coldly.
"I'm glad you're okay. You stay here and take good care of him. Don't wander around anymore." The old man meant that he didn't want Lu Xi to go out anymore.
Lu Xi narrowed his eyes and said, "Didn't you say that someone else should teach him?"
The old man raised his eyelids and said, "Of course."
"When will that person come over?"
"I have my own arrangements for this matter." The old man stared at Lu Xi's face, his cloudy old eyes seemed to see through her.
Lu Xi didn't ask any more questions. Lu Muru was very cunning, and Lu Xi couldn't guess anything until she made it clear.
After saying this, the old man left.
Lu Xi looked up at the window and saw the little mermaid basking in the sun by the pond. The warm sunlight fell on him, and every scale on his tail glowed with a faint luster, more beautiful than the most precious gems in the world. He really didn't know how long such days would last.
Asent noticed her gaze and turned his wheelchair towards her. "Ms. Lu Xi, has that person left?"
Assente mentioned the old man who had just come over.
"I don't like her," Arsenal said bluntly.
Lu Xi chuckled, "I don't like it either."
What difference does it make whether such relatives exist or not?
…
As time passed, it was soon the day before Lu Xi's birthday.
Lu Xi read books all night, and when she was ready to go to bed, she found that the night was particularly quiet because the mermaid was not there.
By the way, he was folding paper cranes in the next room.
Lu Xi put on a warm blanket and went to another room. When she opened the door, she saw paper scraps all over the floor. The temperature in this room was a little cold, and the autumn wind blew in through the open window.
She looked at the little mermaid sleeping on the table, not knowing whether she should envy his cold-resistant physique or feel sorry for him for folding paper cranes from morning to night since a few days ago.
Because he said he would fold a house for her as a birthday gift.
Lu Xi told him that she didn't want a whole room, as long as she liked whatever he gave her, but he didn't listen. Last night, she called him to sleep but he didn't, so she went to sleep by herself, and when she woke up, she found him still folding.
Sure enough, I can’t bear it anymore.
Lu Xi helped him clean up the scattered paper scraps, picked up some paper cranes that fell on the ground, and turned off the lights and windows for him.
Lu Xi didn't draw the curtains. The moonlight was bright tonight, falling on the fair and beautiful face of the little mermaid. She was slightly distracted by his sleeping face. Lu Xi had always celebrated her birthday alone. The woman she called "Mom" would call her, but she would only say a monotonous "Happy Birthday" and nothing else.
Yuan Mu did give her a birthday present, but the original owner did not accept it, and gradually it seemed as if she was forgotten by everyone.
And now, Arsenal really wanted to give her a room full of paper cranes after promising to do so. Lu Xi had never seen a child with such a stupid mind. He was so stupid that she didn't know what to say.
"Um...Miss Lu Xi?" Arsenal suddenly woke up. He rubbed his sleepy eyes and looked at Lu Xi in the dark.
Because mermaids live in the deep sea, where there is no sunlight, their eyes have a special structure that allows them to see clearly in the dark. In Arsenal's eyes, night is the same as day.
"Did it wake you?"
Arsente shook his head. "I was dreaming. I dreamed that it was Miss Lu Xi's birthday, and I hadn't finished folding a room full of paper cranes..."
Before he could finish his words, his eyes suddenly widened.
"It's almost twelve o'clock? I need to hurry." Arsenal noticed the clock on the wall and quickly continued with the work in his hands.
But soon, his hand was grabbed by someone.
"No, that's enough." Lu Xi grabbed his hand.
Arsenal stared at the smile on her face in a daze. The faint smile was like the warm sun on the sea, and he couldn't help but lose his mind.
"These paper cranes are enough. I like them very much."
"Really?" His heart skipped a beat.
"Well, can you teach me how to fold it?"
Assente didn't expect that there were things Miss Lu Xi couldn't do. In his eyes, she was omnipotent. Suddenly, he had a new understanding of her. This realization made him feel like his heart was being scratched by claws.
He took out a piece of paper as a demonstration and taught her how to fold it through the moonlight outside the window. Arsente folded it very slowly. Lu Xi had actually folded it before, but it had been so long that she had forgotten the steps. After watching him fold it several times, she picked up a piece of paper and folded it according to her memory.
Lu Xi looked very serious while folding paper cranes, her eyes focused on the paper in her hand. Her eyelashes were thick and curled, gently fluttering like feathers, and her fair face was very beautiful.
Arsenal's eyes were originally on her paper, but for some reason they moved upwards, and finally he stared at her face in a daze.
"Is that so?" She looked up at him.
"Hmm..." Arsenal hurriedly looked away, his ears turning red. His eyes wandered around and he didn't dare to look at her until he found that she had lowered her head again, and he couldn't help but sneak a peek at her.
When Lu Xi folded a thousand paper cranes, the clock struck twelve and she was stunned for half a second before she realized that it was her birthday.
"Knock knock." Someone knocked on the door twice.
"Ms. Lu Xi, your birthday cake." Xiaomei brought the cake in and placed it on the table with a smile, "Happy birthday to you."
After she left, Lu Xi asked Asente, "Did you order it?"
"Yeah." He nodded a little awkwardly.
During that time, he stayed at Lu Xi's house and watched too much TV, so he knew a lot of things, such as eating cake on birthdays.
Lu Xi went over to turn on the light, and she saw Arsente clumsily remove the lid of the cake, take out the candle and put it on it.
The cake was covered with candles. Lu Xi took a quick look and saw that there were about twenty of them, the same number as her age.
After placing the candles, he began to light the fire.
The little mermaid's movements were clumsy. It took her several tries to light a candle. When she was about to light the next one, she found that the previous one was almost burned out and was about to burn the cream. She was so anxious that she didn't know what to do.
Lu Xi shook her head helplessly, took the lighter from his hand, and quickly lit the candle. The flames made the room warm.
"Turn off the lights and make a wish," Assente said hurriedly.
"Okay." It turned out that he even knew this step. Lu Xi went over to turn off the lights, clasped his hands together and made a wish seriously.
After making her wish, she turned the light back on.
While Lu Xi was cutting the cake, Arsenal sat obediently beside her and waited. She placed the first piece of cake in front of him.
"Ms. Lu Xi, please eat first." He pouted and pushed it away.
"You eat it, it's okay."
"No." He said firmly.
Lu Xi had no choice but to keep that piece and cut another piece for him. He also called Xiaomei over and cut a piece for her to eat.
After cutting it, she picked up the cake and took a bite.
A sickly sweet taste spread in her mouth, and a strange feeling welled up in her heart. Lu Xi knew that it was the original owner's emotions that were affecting her again. The old Lu Xi hadn't enjoyed her birthday in a long, long time. Perhaps it was just as well this way...
…
The crisp sound of birds came from outside, and the early morning sunlight shone through the window glass and fell on the wooden floor.
In front of the low table in the room, there were two sleeping figures, one big and one small. The smaller figure suddenly moved.
Then he slowly woke up and raised his head.
The sunlight shone into his silver-blue eyes, and his light-colored eyeballs were like a sapphire, reflecting a faint luster. Because he had a good sleep, his face revealed a healthy pink.
It took him a long time to wake up from his confused state. He saw Lu Xi lying beside him. She was still asleep.
Lu Xi's skin was very white, and tiny blood vessels could be vaguely seen at the corners of her eyes. Her eyes were tightly closed and there was no sign of waking up.
Arsenal just looked at her like that. He rarely had the chance to look at Lu Xi so blatantly because she always woke up before him, took care of various things, and then called him to get up for breakfast.
Thinking of last night, Assente couldn't help but curl his lips. Miss Lu Xi liked his gift very much and ate cake with him.
But it was obvious that she was really tired this time.
Arsenal did not wake her up. He lay there quietly looking at her for a long time, waiting quietly and obediently for her to wake up.
But until the sun rose completely and Xiaomei came to greet them, Lu Xi did not wake up. She slept too long this time.
"Ms. Lu Xi." Asent couldn't help but call her.
Lu Xi has always been a light sleeper, so she should have woken up at this time, but he called her several times and she didn't move.
This time, he reached out and shook Lu Xi's arm.
However, under Arsenal's horrified gaze, Lu Xi's body fell to the side and fell to the ground.
"Ms. Lu Xi?" His voice trembled violently.
The maid Xiaomei was also frightened by this scene.
