It was early summer, the sun blazing down, and the earth was stiflingly hot. Huo Fei spread his wings and circled above the monster prison for a while, then suddenly changed course and took Silver Ring to the Luohan Temple outside Penang.
Luo Mang's tribulation alarmed people from all sides. Having lost his trail and seeing Huo Fei in pursuit, these people turned back and went to the Demon Prison, intending to wait there for Huo Fei to disappear.
In their minds, Huo Fei was an insider; if they couldn't find the original owner, they could find Huo Fei as well.
But now Huo Fei was with Silver Ring and Blue Monkey. Silver Ring's features were too obvious, and anyone who had seen her would more or less associate her with Nuwa.
Her identity was too special to be exposed, so Huo Fei quickly changed his mind and decided to take Yin Huan to Luohan Temple to keep her under control first.
Among the human race, only the monks of Luohan Temple could be trusted by him.
Seeing Huo Fei suddenly fly away from the prison, Yin Huan frowned slightly: "You flew to the wrong place, the prison is down below."
Huo Fei: "I'll take you somewhere first, then we'll go back to prison tonight."
Silver Ring: "Where to?"
Huo Fei: "Outside the city."
Silver Ring pursed her lips and didn't ask any further questions. As long as she could go back to prison, it didn't matter whether she went sooner or later.
Located on a hillside outside Penang, the Luohan Temple is a tranquil and peaceful place, exuding a sense of ethereal beauty that is different from the secular world.
A mountain stream murmured, and the forest was lush and green. Huo Fei, with Silver Ring and Blue Monkey, swooped down from the clouds and arrived in front of two small pavilions behind Luohan Temple.
The small attic, with its brownish-yellow wood carvings, exudes a rustic charm while revealing exquisite details. In front of the attic is a large nursery, filled with vibrant flowers and lush green grass. Beside the nursery stand two nearly extinct dragon trees.
The architecture is so unique that someone unaware of the context might think they've traveled through time and ended up in the wrong dynasty.
Huo Fei and Bai Mao's identities were too special to be easily revealed to others. Moreover, the main hall in front had many mortals coming and going, which would affect their cultivation. Later, when Luohan Temple was expanded, a separate residence was built for the two of them.
As soon as Huo Fei landed, the abbot, who was meditating and chanting sutras in the meditation room, seemed to sense something. He raised his Buddha-like eyes, put down his wooden fish, stood up, straightened his clothes, and strode out of the meditation room.
Luohan Temple is closest to the Demon Prison. Last night, the strange changes in the sky were first noticed by the old abbot. He was also preparing to go and assist Huo Fei, but he received a message from Bai Mao from the prison, telling him not to take any action and to wait for news.
He waited anxiously all night, but after dawn, there was still no news from the prison. He was getting restless and had to start striking a wooden fish to calm himself down.
The old abbot hurried along and arrived at the back mountain in no time.
He had just stepped into the courtyard in front of the attic when he suddenly stopped, his eyes filled with astonishment.
"Grandmaster, she, she's the one who underwent tribulation last night... What is she?"
As the abbot of Luohan Temple, his vision was certainly not lacking. Upon first seeing Yinhuan, the abbot began to doubt her identity.
A human body with a snake tail—isn't that Nuwa, the goddess?
"No. You've come at the right time. Go find a novice monk's robe and prepare some food." Huo Fei placed the silver ring on the stone bench in the courtyard, then turned to instruct the old abbot.
Silver Ring transformed, her chest covered only by snakeskin. The snakeskin still had white and black stripes, clearly the skin of the snake shedding her skin. Snakeskin shed by snake demons is a top-grade material for forging weapons. Judging from the weapon Luo Mang uses, his keeping Silver Ring's shed skin probably means he has a plan to forge a suitable weapon for her.
The snakeskin outfit she was wearing was probably something Luo Mang casually put on her when they left the small mountain peak where she had undergone tribulation. While it wouldn't have been a problem for her deep in the mountains, it was somewhat inappropriate here.
She can't possibly avoid people. Rather than keeping her hidden forever, it's better to let her pretend and bring her out into the public eye.
The old abbot nodded blankly, seemingly still reeling from the shock. After a long while, he suppressed his astonishment and left the courtyard, turning back to look at himself every step of the way, to prepare things for Yinhuan.
Yin Huan sat on the stool, shifting her little bottom uncomfortably. She looked up, curiously surveying her surroundings, and asked, "Where is this?"
Huo Fei: "The place where I cultivate."
Upon hearing this, Yin Huan opened her mouth in surprise: "You cultivate together with a monk?"
Silver Ring knew about monks; several monks had visited Fuding Mountain before, supposedly to escape some war. She had even asked her older brother about it out of curiosity.
The older brother said that all monks are bad people, and there are even legends that some monks have taken in their own kind.
Silver Ring was somewhat puzzled. The old man who came in just now seemed to be a monk, and he even called Huo Fei his grandmaster. A demon and a monk living together... something seemed off.
Huo Fei gave a soft "hmm".
Yin Huan pursed her lips and glanced at Huo Fei with disdain: "We are demons, and you dare to mingle with humans so openly tomorrow... It seems that my brother was right, you are a disgrace to the demon race."
Huo Fei looked at Yin Huan, whose face was innocent and whose thoughts were written all over her face, his eyes darkened, and he sighed slightly, saying, "Whether it's a demon or a human, the ultimate goal of cultivation is the Dao. Why can't we cultivate together?"
Silver Ring tilted her head away from Huo Fei and huffed angrily, "But humans are bad, why should we stay with bad people?"
Silver Ring had never had any good feelings towards humans. In her three hundred years of life, every human she encountered had been eager to kill her.
