Night fell, and the mountains stretched out in a winding path. Silver Ring led Green Python and the others through them. In the darkness, her gleaming emerald eyes, like those of a giant wolf lurking in the shadows, were even more dazzling than the real wolf following behind her—Su Yi.
Half walking and half flying, as dawn broke, Silver Ring finally arrived at the place of her birth.
Born as a demon, Silver Ring has an exceptionally good memory. Even though she has never returned to this place in three hundred years, she can still accurately find the place where she was born.
"Where is this?" Hei Xiong frowned, looking at the clump of weeds in front of him.
"This is where I hatched. I'll wander around; you can do as you please, no need to follow me." Silver Ring glanced at the weeds covering the ground, her eyes narrowing, and with a flick of her tail, she swam into the grass.
Time flies, and snakes don't live long. A silver-ringed snake like hers only lives for six or seven years at most. All her brothers and sisters who hatched with her are gone now.
It's said that even tigers don't eat their cubs; even the fiercest mother beast will show her loving side when facing her newborn offspring. But the snake clan is an exception. Many snake mothers, after giving birth, are so exhausted that they turn around and devour the weaker of their young. Even the oviparous brothers and sisters of the Silver Ring didn't escape this fate; many, barely hatched and without even a glimpse of the sunlight outside the cave, went straight into their mother's mouth.
From birth, a snake is an independent individual. Humans often use the word "snake" to describe a person's coldness, and they are not wrong. A snake is indeed a cold-blooded being.
Hei Xiong shrugged, looking at Yin Huan, whose head was mostly hidden by weeds, and turned to ask the green python beside him in a puzzled tone, "What is Yin Huan doing here?"
Green Python: "She's denying her own identity and coming back here to look for clues."
Su Yi frowned upon hearing this: "You told her? Isn't it too early to tell her now?"
The green python closed its eyes slightly: "No, tell her so she can be on guard. But she seems to be very resistant to her identity."
Hei Xiong asked in surprise, "Why?"
The green python sighed and shook its head in confusion: "I don't know either."
Su Yi: "Could this be related to her awakening?"
Upon hearing this, Hei Xiong quickly chimed in, "Yes, could it be because she hasn't awakened yet, which is why she's resisting? After all, Nuwa's identity is indeed too terrifying."
"Don't know?" the green python said, "You haven't seen Luo Mang after he survived the tribulation, have you? Although Luo Mang survived the tribulation and transformed into a Teng Snake, he doesn't have the strength of a Teng Snake. Like Yin Huan, his awakening process went wrong."
Su Yi raised his eyes and looked at Qing Mang: "How do you know so much? Also, what is the relationship between you and Yin Huan? Since you went to prison, Yin Huan has become somewhat careless and her emotions have become more volatile."
Su Yi asked the question that everyone wanted to know.
Silver Ring's unwavering trust in the Green Python surprised the others greatly.
While in prison, Yin Huan seemed to be able to joke around with anyone, but in reality, except when she was with Su Yi, she never easily approached other demons. She was extremely wary, and even with Hei Xiong, who lived next door to her, she only talked about it but never got too close to him.
After Su Yi asked, He Bai, who had been silent all along, spoke up: "This trip out seems peaceful on the surface, but in reality it is fraught with danger. The demon slayers are too fast. We have only been out of prison for two days, and demon slayers have already arrived at Fuding Mountain. Green Python, since we left prison, we have been in the same boat. It is best to be honest with each other so that no one will have any suspicions."
The Azure Python chuckled, "There's nothing to be ashamed of. You only know that I have a grudge against Luo Mang, but you don't know that we are brothers from the same mother. We are both guardian beasts of the Silver Ring. It's just that some things happened during our cultivation, which led to us becoming enemies..."
Qingmang didn't offer much explanation, dismissing his feud with Luo Mang with a single sentence. His affair with Luo Mang was between the two of them, and no outsiders needed to interfere.
After saying that, the green python gently closed its eyes to hide the murderous intent that flashed in them: "Hmph, Luo Mang, you had better accept the inheritance completely this time. If you are still a piece of trash and cannot fully awaken and bear your mission, then I will definitely find a way to take your place."
Because of the silver ring, the green python's hatred for Luo Mang intensified. Having stolen the essence blood and transformed into a flying serpent, it was utterly unforgivable that it couldn't protect the silver ring.
Hei Xiong looked at the green python and suddenly realized: "I knew your relationship was definitely not simple. It's one thing for your beast bodies to be similar, since all Burmese pythons look the same anyway, but your human forms are also five or six points similar. No one would believe you're not brothers."
The green python glared angrily at the black bear: "Who resembles that good-for-nothing?"
Hei Xiong ignored his anger: "He's a waste? He's become a Teng Snake, while you're still just a long worm. I don't know who's the waste."
The green python's face darkened: "Say it again if you dare."
Blackie: "Fine, I'll say it then, you..."
Seeing the two men lift each other up, Su Yi immediately called out to stop them: "Alright, that's enough. Yin Huan has been inside for so long, won't something happen to her?"
He Bai raised his eyes and looked at the bushes in front of him: "It should be fine. I didn't sense any danger."
After this interruption, Black Bear and Green Python stopped their confrontation and fell silent, waiting quietly for Silver Ring.
Silver Ring, whom they were waiting for, found himself in a strange dilemma.
Yin Huan sat on a patch of grass, her white dress stained with mud from the forest, losing its original pure white color. The topknot that Hei Xiong had tied up for her yesterday had come loose and crooked, and her long hair, having been pulled through the grass, was covered in bits of grass, making her look extremely disheveled.
