Chapter 30
The news that Chu Wen was not Chu's biological son quickly reached the ears of Chu Jianghe and Yan Ke.
That evening, Chu Jianghe and Yan Ke returned to the old house. While Chu Muchao was watching a movie in the audio-visual room, Chu Jianghe called Chu Wen into the study alone.
As soon as the door closed, Chu Jianghe angrily questioned, "What are you thinking, kid? We've always treated you like our own child. If Chaochao really has no interest in taking over the company, then the group is your responsibility!"
These words didn't sound like concern that Chu Wen might overthink things, but rather like an accusation that Chu Wen was irresponsible for not communicating with them before making the decision.
But this was not Chu Jianghe's original intention; he was just bad with words, and what he said was not quite what they thought.
Chu Wen replied coldly.
"I will train Chaochao to be a leader who can stand on his own before I leave."
Chu Jianghe roared, "Nonsense! Where are you going?! This is your home!"
Chu Wen stood up straight, showing no fear: "I am not your biological son."
"But we've always thought of you..."
Seeing that the two were on the verge of arguing, Yan Ke picked up a book from the desk and held it between them, interrupting their conversation.
"Ah Wen, what are you thinking? Don't you want to be honest with us?"
Yan Ke looked at Chu Wen, her expression gentle.
“We’ve seen how you treat Chaochao, so we feel comfortable entrusting her to your care. But if you don’t say things directly, it’s hard for us to accurately grasp your emotions.”
-
Separated by a floor, Chu Muchao had no idea what was happening in the study upstairs.
After watching the movie, she carried her unfinished juice to the elevator while sending voice messages in the group chat.
"What kind of movie are you recommending to me?! That older brother is so controlling and terrifying! You guys should watch less of this unhealthy stuff!"
Sui: Don't you think... your brother's tactics look familiar?
Chu Muchao: "No way! My brother would never install a camera in my room to monitor me! He can be a bit controlling sometimes, but he's definitely not that perverted! That's a crime!"
Chu Muchao: "Besides! Don't you guys have some misunderstanding about Chu Wen? Chu Wen may look fierce and scary, but he is actually a gentle, considerate, meticulous, and very upright person!"
Sui: ...Hmm, I hope he can always remain upright in front of you.
Xinbao: I just came across this movie and it gave me a really strong sense of déjà vu, so I thought I'd recommend it to you. If you're not interested in that kind of thing, we won't post these anymore!
Sui: Yes, that's right. I didn't mean to sow discord between you and Chu Wen. Chu Wen is definitely good to you. He admitted he's not your biological son, which means he has no ill intentions towards your family, and at least he certainly wouldn't harm you. I just see you're completely oblivious and I'm worried you'll suffer.
Chu Muchao quickly explained, "Ah! I didn't mean you guys were stirring things up! It's just... to be honest, I really find it hard to imagine him being like what you guys say. You see, his face is very serious and upright, and sometimes he's even fierce. If you told me he was crazy and insane like in that movie tonight, I would find it so awkward and strange."
"Perhaps because we grew up together, he has always been the older brother who protects and takes care of me, so it's hard for me to think of him as..."
Chu Muchao's voice abruptly stopped.
The elevator doors opened, and Chu Wen was standing there, staring at her with a cold, expressionless face.
The elevator was fairly well soundproofed, and her voice wasn't loud...
Chu Wen probably didn't hear that, right?
Chu Muchao twitched the corners of his mouth and gave a dry laugh: "Brother."
"Yes." Chu Wen stepped into the elevator. "Finished watching the movie?"
Chu Muchao smiled and raised her little face, "Okay, I'm going back to my room."
Chu Wen: "Okay, go to sleep early, goodnight."
Chu Wen seemed not to have heard.
Stepping out of the elevator, Chu Muchao hurriedly ran back to his room.
When Xu Sui opened her phone again, she found that she and Gu Xinyi had already exchanged more than ten messages.
Sui: To be honest, I find it hard to imagine what he would be like in such a contrasting way, but that's what makes me even more excited!
Sui: Please, you must play with (not)
Sui: If you ever get it, please give pseudo-orthopedics a chance!
Xinbao: The more self-disciplined and restrained a person is, the more drastic the changes will occur when they break down and can no longer control themselves.
Xinbao: Sigh, as someone who's been there, let me tell you, the more abstinent and restrained he seems, the scarier he might be when he goes crazy!
Xinbao: Where is everyone?
Sui: I'd venture a guess, maybe you ran into your brother halfway through a voice message?
Chu Muchao: ...
Chu Muchao: Yes. But he didn't seem to hear me.
Chu Muchao: You scared me.

Shi Xiyu came to the company early the next morning to complete the onboarding process. She spent the whole morning running around completing the procedures and entering her information.
As lunch break approached, Shi Xiyu planned to order takeout and eat at her workstation, making the most of the time to get started as soon as possible.
A-Dong hadn't finished organizing the documentation yet, so she could only look at the PPT to understand the company's rules and regulations and corporate culture.
I ordered lunch half an hour in advance, and a little after 12 o'clock, the delivery guy informed me that it had been placed at the front desk.
Shi Xiyu returned with takeout and ran into A Dong, who was having lunch with several male colleagues, as they entered through the company's back door.
Upon seeing Shi Xiyu, A Dong's expression was contemptuous and disdainful.
Shi Xiyu smiled politely at him and walked past him.
She had no recollection of A-Dong, but during the interview, Chu Mu-Chao had mentioned it. She guessed that she must have had some kind of conflict with A-Dong in the past because of work, which led to A-Dong's bad attitude and impression of her.
But since she was about to leave the company, she didn't need to clash with Ah Dong; she should just focus on herself.
That's what she thought.
Ah Dong, however, was not like that.
Seeing that she was about to leave, Ah Dong called out to her loudly.
"Hey, don't you know the food you bought has a strong smell? Who gave you permission to eat it in the office? Don't you know the company rules?"
"Huh? Doesn't the company allow us to eat takeout in the office?"
Shi Xiyu stood in the middle of the corridor. There were offices in front of and behind her, but they were all a bit far apart, so she couldn't see the people inside.
"Oh, sorry, I didn't notice. I'll take it somewhere else to eat then."
Ah Dong sneered, "Never worked for a big company before, have you? You don't even know this. Ha, you really don't know the rules."
Shi Xiyu, carrying takeout, had just turned towards the elevator when she heard A Dong's words and turned back.
His sharp gaze swept over A-Dong, and then he smiled.
"I usually don't remember people with average abilities. Where did I offend you? Did I steal your business, or did I lose to you in competition? It can't be that you didn't mention me in your presentation slides, can it?"
Ah Dong was so angry that he was speechless, his eyes wide open, revealing large patches of white, but he couldn't utter a single word.
because.
Shi Xiyu was right about everything.
A colleague from the marketing department quickly stepped in to smooth things over: "Um, Manager Shi, you can eat lunch in the office, but you have to throw your trash in the trash can at the back. You've been busy all morning, you must be very hungry, go ahead and eat your lunch, we won't bother you anymore."
Ah Dong is the one who is going to resign, and Shi Xiyu will be the leader who manages them from now on.
They are clear about this.
After saying goodbye to Shi Xiyu, the group pulled Adong toward the emergency exit.
Where Shi Xiyu couldn't see, A Dong's eyes were red with anger.
-
As usual, Chu Muchao went upstairs to have lunch with Chu Wen today.
Today, when I got to the top floor, I was surrounded by people from the moment I stepped out of the elevator.
She knew how these gazes were different from before.
Previously, they only regarded her as the daughter of the Chu family, an outsider who only held shares but had no real power and was unrelated to the group.
Now, because Chu Wen revealed that her child was not her biological child, everyone knows one thing—she is the only future head of the Chu family.
She was only known for her surname, Chu.
Miss Mu Mu, please don't underestimate yourself.
Chu Muchao: I'm just a little surprised; I never noticed such a big difference before.
"Good afternoon, Miss Chu."
"Good afternoon, Miss Chu. Lunch has been prepared by Mr. Chu. Is there anything you would like to drink? Would you like me to make it for you?"
The title of "sole heir" seems to be more effective than "Miss Chu".
Ironically, these familiar faces, who were merely polite to her before yesterday, are now practically fawning over her.
"Alright, alright, everyone get on with your own business and don't block the way."
Wu Mi waved to disperse the crowd, maintaining the same respectful yet distant attitude he had shown every time he came to pick up Chu Muchao.
He opened the office door for her.
"Miss Chu, please come in."
-
Lunch has already been served.
As soon as I entered the office, I smelled the delicious aroma of fried pork ribs.
Chu Muchao's eyes lit up immediately. He quickly walked in and immediately spotted the plate of fried pork ribs in the center of the dish.
"Brother! We have fried pork ribs today!"
That "brother" was called out in a clear and sweet voice.
Chu Wen couldn't help but be infected by Chu Muchao's bright smile, and his face softened considerably.
He walked over and took Chu Muchao's hand.
"I guess you might want to try it, try the mint fried pork ribs."
"Ah, I've heard of that!" Chu Muchao happily hugged Chu Wen's arm and said sweetly, "Brother is the best to me~"
Chu Wen's expression softened: "Is letting you eat fried pork ribs considered being good to you?"
"Hey." Chu Muchao narrowed his eyes. "It might not be the same for others, but it doesn't matter how it is for my brother."
This noon we had not only mint-fried pork ribs, but also several other deep-fried dishes!
This is truly unprecedented!
The snacks were all French fries, fried chicken, and fried shrimp chips!
After seeing all the dishes, Chu Muchao could no longer laugh.
"wrong……"
She took a step back, covered her mouth with both hands, and a series of expressions appeared on her face: panic, disbelief, hesitation, and struggle.
"Are you possessed by aliens? Tell me, what's your purpose in coming to Earth!"
Chu Wen glanced down at his empty palm: "...Hmm? Stop fooling around, sit down and eat."
As she spoke, she reached out and grasped Chu Muchao's wrist.
The force wasn't great, but the restraint was very firm, with no intention of letting the other person break free.
Chu Muchao didn't try to break free, and was pulled down to sit by Chu Wen, muttering to himself.
"Impossible! My brother would never let me eat so much fried food! And it's absolutely impossible for so much fried food to be on one table at the same time!"
Chu Wen couldn't help but chuckle, picking up a piece of fried pork rib and stuffing it into that chattering mouth.
"Try it and see if this flavor can shut you up."
"Hmm...it tastes good."
