Chapter 4
"What? Are you kidding me?"
The male colleague chuckled and reached out to touch Chu Muchao's name tag hanging around his neck.
Chu Muchao sensed the intention, took a step back, and quickly slapped the back of his male colleague's hand to avoid the other's action.
"Do not touch or grope in public."
He swept his cold gaze over them, his eyes warning them.
[Miss Mu Mu, a friendly reminder: he's not asking if you want coffee, he wants you to make coffee for them.]
Chu Muchao: ?
The system's suggestion was from a perspective she had never considered.
Chu Mu took a step back and stopped.
She pointed her slender, pale fingers at herself, her expression skeptical: "You're stopping me so I'll make you coffee?"
The male colleague scoffed, "What, you're a new intern, and you think it's beneath you to make me a cup of coffee?"
Another male colleague chuckled and laughed when he heard the term "brother".
Chu Muchao frowned.
It's already annoying to have to go to work in this hot weather, but it's even more annoying to be stopped after clocking in.
"I only have one older brother."
"Hahaha……"
"An older brother~"
When the male colleague heard Chu Muchao call out "brother" as if he were being called, he felt a tingling, pleasurable sensation and laughed even more triumphantly.
Chu Muchao didn't know what they were laughing at, but the malice in their laughter was something she had never heard before in her life.
Just as he was about to get angry, that androgynous mechanical voice rang in his mind.
Miss Mu Mu, would you like to try the power of magic now?
Chu Muchao: Okay.
Without needing a system reminder, Chu Muchao quickly reached into his backpack and pulled out a black pen from the P brand, holding it in his hand.
Now, please repeat the transformation incantation following the subtitles.
A nearly transparent panel appeared out of thin air in front of Chu Muchao, with a line of subtitles at the bottom.
Chu Muchao: The Messenger of Love, Peace, and Justice (Working Version)! I'm willing to sign a magical contract of love and peace with you, becoming your messenger to uphold love, peace, and justice! I'm Mu Mu, a working-class person, please grant me magical powers! Transform—
As soon as he finished speaking, a huge bow suddenly popped out of the cap of the pen in his hand.
It looks like the staff I used to sign the magic contract last night.
Chu Muchao: And then?
[Invoking the power of words, directly issuing commands to these two people.]
Chu Muchao silently uttered the phrase, "His words are indeed prophetic."
"Get out of the way."
"Make your own coffee if you want it, and stop ordering people around!"
Upon hearing the order, a golden glint flashed in the eyes of both male colleagues.
Immediately following Chu Muchao's orders, he turned and left without giving a single unnecessary glance or saying a single unnecessary word.
At the same time, several lines of text appeared in the middle of the almost transparent panel.
[First magical girl transformation, magic points +10.]
[Successfully used the magic skill "Words of Power," skill proficiency +3, magic points +1.]
Chu Muchao lowered his eyes and carefully examined the almost transparent panel.
Besides the system prompt in the center and the subtitles at the bottom, there is also a column on the right that reads "[Shop]" and "[Skills]".
You can click on your personal panel on the right to take a look.
Chu Muchao poked his finger on the almost transparent panel, and the second-level page of the [Shop] popped up.
The top section includes clothing, accessories, and props. The top right corner shows her magic points, which are currently 11.
Chu Muchao: Magic points can be exchanged for items in the shop, right?
Yes, Miss Mu Mu is very clever. However, because your personal level is currently very low, the shop hasn't been upgraded, and there are very few items available.
Chu Muchao casually flipped through some of them.
Some of the clothes and jewelry in the mall looked familiar; it seemed like she had seen them in her walk-in closet before.
Just like the in-game store system, each item has "Exchange" and "Try On" buttons.
However, the "one-click outfit change" function is not yet visible, which is probably related to her level and hasn't been enabled yet.
She's quite looking forward to this feature.
Compared to having to spend several hours in advance getting ready for a banquet, choosing dresses and accessories, this feature should be much more convenient once it's available!
It won't take up her time, and it won't be so troublesome.
-
Chu Muchao arrived at his workstation.
Just like yesterday, I took out the perilla drink I brought.
I added more lemon juice today than yesterday, and the drink has a more delicate and pretty pink color.
Shen Jia glanced at it and was amazed.
"This color is quite nice! It's even different from the milk tea and fruit tea I bought."
Although Shen Jia has a bit of a temper and gets angry easily, she's not a bad person.
Chu Muchao had a good impression of her and handed her the unopened glass.
Would you like to try some?
Shen Jia didn't intend to be polite.
"Sure."
Just as she was about to speak, a colleague walked over, put her hands on the back of Shen Jia's chair, and said with a hint of disdain, "Huh? You made your own drinks, who knows if they're safe? What if you get something wrong from drinking them?"
Chu Mu rested his arm on the table and looked in the direction of the sound.
I ran into this person in the elevator yesterday.
If I remember correctly, they should be members of another group in the operations department.
[Miss Mu Mu is right. By the way, she followed you to the parking lot yesterday and saw you get into your car.]
Chu Muchao: Is this guy very free?
There will always be people who enjoy snooping into other people's privacy, regardless of gender or age.
[Friendly reminder: You haven't yet deactivated your magical girl form; you can use magic directly.]
Chu Muchao faced the other person and looked directly into her eyes.
Wait for the other person to continue.
Shen Jia wasn't very interested in this person and waved his hand away: "Go back to your group. Why do you keep coming here? You're affecting other people's work."
"Hey, your group doesn't have much work to do, why are you pretending to be busy every day? Unlike our group, we're responsible for planning several big projects, and we've already achieved our annual KPI in the first half of the year. Keep it up, guys."
Shen Jia rolled her eyes, too lazy to pay her any attention. Distracted like that, she forgot what she was planning to do, so she simply turned on her computer and got to work.
However, the colleague still didn't leave. He walked up to Chu Muchao, propped one hand on her desk, and looked down at Chu Muchao with a menacing air.
"Xiao Chu, why did you go down the elevator on the first floor yesterday and then walk to the parking garage via the stairs? Did someone pick you up?"
This person is asking a question they already know the answer to.
Chu Muchao picked up the black pen that she had placed on the table and silently recited in his mind.
[It came true.]
Don't bother me.
A glint of light flashed in the colleague's eyes, and then, involuntarily, he straightened up and left.
Shen Jia glanced at it, said "That's ridiculous" in an annoyed tone, and turned back to her work.
Chu Muchao turned around and put the perilla drink back on the table.
I don't like giving my own cup to others. I'll ask the aunt to make another one tomorrow, and I'll bring it over in a different cup.
Chu Muchao turned on his computer and logged into his work account.
The system's voice echoed in my mind.
[Miss Mu Mu, next time you could try asking her not to gossip about you anymore.]
Chu Muchao shook his head: If she likes gossip so much, let her gossip. Just don't bother me. She will pay the price for her inappropriate behavior.
Yes, you have more important things to do now.
As if responding to the system, as soon as the work account was logged in, a series of message notification sounds came from the computer speakers.
Dozens of messages flooded the project team's work group in an instant.
Marketing Manager: @Operations Department @Marketing Department What's going on? The event page hasn't been updated yet.
[I went out on fieldwork yesterday, @J, what's going on?]
[I didn't get off work until 8 PM last night. Who was in charge of the event?]
[It's my responsibility, but the operations department didn't send me any data or alternative plans, so I can't make a change.]
Shen Jia: Why wasn't it sent? We worked overtime to finish the plan after our meeting on Monday and sent it to everyone in your department, copying each department head. Why don't you check your work emails? I see that very few of your work emails have been read.
[@Chu Muchao, could you please send me the document? I sent you a message last night but you didn't reply. Please remember to reply to work messages promptly next time so as not to delay our work.]
Shen Jia: Plan B was sent to you on Monday, and today is Thursday, but the event page hasn't been updated yet. Whose problem is this?
The event page can't be updated. We're missing data, and updating requires a process. Without data, we can't complete the update process.
Shen Jia: Now the process can't be completed again? You were the ones who asked for a backup plan and changed strategies because the data was bad, and now you're the ones saying the process is stuck and you won't change anything?
Shen Jia: We worked through the night to rush out a new plan according to your needs. Yesterday afternoon at five o'clock, after we finished our meeting, we found that all the computers in your department were turned off and everyone was out on fieldwork.
Hey, let's not talk about these things in the project group.
[@Operations Department @Shen Jia, if you have any complaints about our marketing colleagues, let's resolve them privately. This is work time, and we'll only discuss work.]
Shen Jia: Aren't we just talking about work right now?
Shen Jia single-handedly engaged in a verbal battle with more than ten colleagues in the marketing department.
There was too much information, and Chu Muchao didn't understand it.
I scrolled up the scroll wheel and looked at the chat history again.
[Miss Mu Mu, do you need a system notification?]
Chu Muchao: ...I really didn't understand. The plan has already been sent; they just need to follow the procedures and change the page according to the plan, right?
The information I've seen indicates that this project already had problems during the initial stages of the campaign. Even changing the planner wouldn't achieve the expected results; it would only increase costs.
[You could interpret this as: the person in charge of planning this event exaggerated the potential returns, the initial investment was too large, and they were unable to recoup the losses and explain the situation to their superiors.]
Whether it's a backup plan or the unanswered messages from last night, the person in charge of this event is just looking for a scapegoat to avoid responsibility.
Chu Muchao seemed to understand but not quite: So, the overtime work in the past few days was completely unnecessary?
Chu Muchao: Using data to argue and forcing people to work overtime to revise the plan has not improved the revenue of this event at all.
"I see. Miss Mu Mu, what do you plan to do?"
