Chapter 45
"Josh, would you like to drink some more?"
Tang Ning is a chatterbox; her mouth is never still, and no matter how busy she is with work, it can't stop her enthusiasm for sharing. She always makes time to chat with Qiao Xi on WeChat every day.
Share funny videos, chat about beauty jobs, and share your curiosity about gossip news.
When Josh suddenly lost contact for two days after her accident, Tang Ning was extremely worried, fearing that something might have happened to her, so she made a phone call directly to Chen Zhiyu.
Josh realized he couldn't hide it any longer, so he told her the truth.
When Tang Ning first received the news, he immediately wanted to drop everything and fly over to take care of her. Qiao Xi quickly stopped him, saying that she was fine and that Chen Zhiyu was taking care of her, so there was no need to worry.
Tang Ning hesitated at first, but after a moment's thought, she obediently exited the ticket booking interface.
Actually, Tang Ning had planned to come on the very first day Chen Zhiyu and Qiao Xi returned, but she was held up by family matters at the last minute. Although the matter was nothing more than a cliché, it still made her feel uneasy, so she couldn't come on time.
As soon as those old family matters were settled today, Tang Ning didn't care what time it was and drove over directly.
Tang Ning arrived late, just in time to avoid Josh's colleagues.
She didn't come empty-handed either.
Chen Zhiyu glanced disdainfully at the two large bags of things thrown on the coffee table. Good heavens, they were all fried food and braised dishes, perfect as snacks with drinks.
This doesn't seem like a visit to a sick person; it's more like a visit to drink and relieve boredom.
It's obvious that Tang Ning must have bought a membership card and topped up his account at some fried food and braised food restaurant again.

In Tang Ning's heart, besides her parents, Josh is the closest person to her.
Since they're all family, there's no need for so much formality. But now, she stared speechlessly at the two people on the sofa, one sitting and one lounging, looking incredibly comfortable.
When Tang Ning first learned that the two were together, she was indeed taken a while to recover. Later, she felt a sense of relief that she couldn't quite explain.
Chen Zhiyu had tidied the living room to a comfortable state. The coffee table was covered with Josh's favorite snacks and fruits, and there were also many used paper cups on it, probably from a group of guests who had just left.
Following her gaze, she saw the two people on the sofa completely oblivious to everyone else. She'd been there for half an hour, and no one had greeted her. That deadpan guy hadn't even given her a second glance after opening the door.
It's like I owe him money.
The deadpan man sat on the sofa, intently peeling chestnuts, then feeding them to Josh, who was lying on his side, bite by bite.
Tang Ning twitched her lips, feeling that this was the limit of her patience. "That's enough. You two should at least show some concern for me, your guest."
Chen Zhiyu was seething with anger and naturally displeased with her. "Who do you think you are? Haven't I already opened the door for you?" After saying that, he went back to doing what he was doing.
stench
Disgusting couple
nausea
Tang Ning silently repeated it several times in his mind before calming his restless heart.
Josh gave her a look and said, "Sit down."
"I'm sitting here." Having failed to behave, Tang Ning roared.
"Well, let's figure out what to have for dinner later." Josh pushed away the chestnut that was offered to him again, stretched, and sat up.
She had been taking care of the guests in shifts all day, which was exhausting. Only when Tang Ning arrived did she finally relax and let down her guard.
Fortunately, Tang Ning had brought a bunch of snacks to go with the drinks, and Chen Zhiyu could just make a soup, and that would be enough for dinner.
It wasn't really a proper meal. The three of them simply sat around the coffee table, eating and chatting.
Tang Ning brought the fruit wine from last time, and seeing that Josh liked it, she also bought other flavors. Her intention was for Josh to try the new flavors.
But Josh's wound hadn't fully healed, and even though she repeatedly assured him, she couldn't overcome Chen Zhiyu's veto power.
Josh had no more alcohol to drink, so she could only chew on the snacks she had been eating. She picked up a piece of some kind of braised dish with her chopsticks, ate it slowly, and asked, "Has your family matter been resolved? What are those people up to now?"
Tang Ning was busy gnawing on fried chicken necks, which were sweet and sour and so delicious that she didn't even look up. "It's all because of my troublesome old lady. It's hilarious. Her grandson can't find a girlfriend, so she blames it all on me, saying that my long-term single status is affecting them. Pah! She doesn't even look at those ugly ducklings and swans. What kind of scum they are."
Josh frowned after hearing this. She knew that the old lady had never liked the Tang Ning family and would cause trouble every now and then. How come she was going too far now? "What did Auntie say?"
Tang Ning's father has a very mild temper; as Tang Ning's mother would say, you couldn't get a word out of him even if you hit him three times. Fortunately, he knows how to care for people and isn't blindly obedient to his parents, which is why Tang Ning's mother has been able to continue living with him.
“She fought back.” The old lady would usually find fault, but Tang Ning’s mother would just let it go on the surface. She’d let her say what she wanted, and they’d live their own lives. But this time, the old lady was openly and subtly slandering her daughter, and she couldn’t stand it. “My mom got so angry that she almost ate their pot.”
Josh sighed; every family has its own troubles.
Tang Ning has a fiery temper and is straightforward, without any ulterior motives. Josh pondered this and decided to give her some advice, otherwise, no one could stand the old lady causing so much trouble.
After finishing their meal, the game didn't stop; the three of them started playing cards again. It had been a long time since they'd enjoyed such leisurely time since they started working.
Listening to Chen Zhiyu and Tang Ning's banter, Qiao Xi laughed out loud. It's so comfortable at home; you can forget all your troubles.
The poker game was interesting, but Tang Ning was frustrated and speechless. He then started cursing.
"I get so angry just looking at you two! Standing so close together, no talking, and no changing cards!"
"No, why are you cheating?"
When did you pick up this bad habit?
"Chen Zhiyu, we're in cahoots! Do you remember?"
Finally, Tang Ning got tired of playing and didn't want to go back. While she was reporting to her family, Qiao Xi's gaze fell on Chen Zhiyu's wine glass on the coffee table.
The glass contained a new flavor of fruit wine. The aroma emanating from it was wonderful and enticing. Just one whiff was enough to whet Josh's appetite.
Sitting next to her, Chen Zhiyu noticed her thoughts, picked up his wine glass, and drank it all in one gulp.
"Hey!" Josh exclaimed angrily, "Are you doing this on purpose?"
The fragrant wine spread in his mouth and slowly slid down his throat. Chen Zhiyu pursed his lips and smiled faintly, "It's for your own good. I'm not doing this because I see you scratching your head in distress."
Josh punched him hard. "Who's scratching their head? You're the monkey." She was really craving it. She leaned half her body on his shoulder, sniffed his mouth hard, and her eyes sparkled. "Then describe what it tastes like to me, okay?"
Judging from this, it's impossible not to describe it as a research paper.
What distinct flavors could an ordinary fruit wine possibly have? He'd been drinking it like water the whole time, and now it was a bit difficult to savor the taste. Chen Zhiyu smacked his lips, tilted his head back, and tried hard to recall, but couldn't come up with any words for a long time.
"Never mind." Josh was anxious, so she reached out and grabbed his collar, pulling him down until their heads were close together. Her tongue swept in forcefully, with the force of a sweeping army, before quickly withdrawing.
The entire set of movements was fluid and smooth, as if it had been rehearsed many times in the mind before the actual operation. It was crisp, clean, and so fast that it was over before Chen Zhiyu could even react.
It has a very refreshing strawberry and lime flavor. The crisp lime is neutralized by the sweet strawberry, and there is also a slightly astringent fermented aroma.
"It tastes pretty good," Josh commented after savoring the flavor.
Seeing her moist lips, Chen Zhiyu's gaze darkened. He leaned forward, wanting to continue, but just then, Tang Ning finished her phone call and came out. He gritted his teeth and had no choice but to give up.
...
When it was time to rest, Chen Zhiyu saw Tang Ning enter the bedroom first. He walked up behind Qiao Xi, his tall body pressed close to hers, and whispered in her ear, "Just you wait."
Anyone who didn't know better would think he was looking for a fight.
Josh didn't pay any attention and went to bed with Tang Ning after washing up.
Tang Ning pointed her toes, turned over and suggested to her, "You two should find a place to pray sometime. What happened? Either he got injured or you were in danger."
Josh also felt that this year had been quite turbulent, "Let's wait until the New Year."
After cleaning up the mess in the living room, Chen Zhiyu went back to his room.
Chen Zhiyu had gotten used to spending time alone with Qiao Xi these past few days, and the sudden absence of her left him feeling a little empty. He got up to grab a bottle of water from the living room and noticed the light was still on in the bedroom across the hall. After lying back down in bed, he took out his phone to text Qiao Xi.
Tang Ning was still chatting with Josh about how his grandmother was so biased.
Tang Ning's father had many siblings, and among his grandchildren, Tang Ning was the most successful. But Tang Ning's grandmother didn't see it that way; she held onto the old generation's mindset and constantly talked about her beloved grandchildren. "You know, she's getting old and her eyesight is failing," she said.
The Tang family of three only wanted to live a good life. In recent years, for some reason, Grandma Tang had been giving advice to Tang Ning's father's company, saying that if you don't have your own people in the company, you won't even know when others have sidelined you.
Tang Ning's father said that Tang Ning is here.
Grandma Tang scoffed, "Can he be used like a boy?"
Tang Ning's father pretended to be deaf.
Tang Ning was furious; the old man's true intentions were as clear as day.
Josh offered a few words of comfort and together they brainstormed ideas on how to deal with the menacing uncles.
Noticing her phone vibrate twice, Josh took it out and looked at it.
Are you asleep?
"without."
"And the other one?"
"No, not really." Josh knew it was because of the fire he had started, and teased him on purpose, "You just can't resist, buddy, you can't do that."
There was no further reply.
Josh put down his phone and continued chatting with Tang Ning.
A while later, another message popped up: "Wasn't it you who hooked him? Besides, don't you know best whether it's good or not?"
Tang Ning hadn't had much rest these past few days, constantly battling wits with her grandmother's family. She fell asleep while chatting with her. Just as Qiao Xi turned over to cover her with the blanket, her phone rang again.
What about this time?
Josh replied with two words, "Going to sleep."
The reply came instantly: "Come out."
Josh suppressed a laugh, tiptoed out of bed, turned off the light for Tang Ning, and as soon as he opened the door, he bumped into Chen Zhiyu waiting outside.
Chen Zhiyu leaned against the door frame with his arms crossed, his eyes piercing. When he saw her come out, he stretched out his long arm and easily lifted her up, carrying her into his room.
With a bang, the door slammed shut, locked from the inside.
Josh was placed on the desk.
On the desk were several professional books that Josh couldn't understand, as well as an opened bottle of fruit wine, a new flavor.
Chen Zhiyu pressed himself between her legs, his hands resting on her waist and abdomen, sometimes lightly, sometimes heavily. With his other hand, he picked up a bottle of fruit wine and tilted his head back to drink a third of it.
His Adam's apple bobbed, and the sound of him swallowing was clearly audible.
Then, he leaned down and bit her lips, his tongue forcefully penetrating hers, passing on the strong aroma of sweet wine, and whispered indistinctly, "Let you provoke me."
Josh tilted his head back, his lips forced open, the sweet scent of strawberries filling his mouth. He sucked up all the sweet liquid that spilled from the corners of his lips, his movements forceful, until both of them were breathless.
"Josh, what does it taste like?" After the kiss, Chen Zhiyu stared intently at Josh and asked in a hoarse voice.
Josh felt as if he were submerged in water, lacking oxygen, his head was spinning, his chest was heaving, and he was breathing rapidly.
Seeing that Josh did not answer, he simply drank it all in one gulp, then pried open his teeth again and gently swept his palate across the roof of his mouth.
The overhead light shone down on the two of them. Josh's eyes were glazed over from the kiss, and his face was flushed with an unnatural blush. He was in a daze and feeling a little drunk.
The slight dizziness and intoxication made her feel relaxed for a while.
Josh's upper body suddenly straightened, his right hand frantically trying to grab something for support. Chen Zhiyu's arm muscles were taut, like a lifeline on a raging wave.
Josh tried to dodge, but it itched.
"Bear with it."
...(It was just a simple kiss, nothing more. I really don't know how to delete it. Thank you, and thank you for your hard work.)
Chen Zhiyu forcefully restrained the person, supporting their back firmly with his hands.
Knowing that Tang Ning was sleeping in the next room, which wasn't soundproof, Josh refrained from making a sound.
The table beneath him creaked and groaned, making Josh blush and his heart race.
For a long time, Chen Zhiyu still wouldn't let her go, gently nibbling at her lips.
The hand around her waist grew increasingly hot, and Chen Zhiyu's chin rested on her shoulder, his rapid breathing causing her to tremble involuntarily.
"Josh, do you want to drink some more?" Chen Zhiyu said in a deep voice, placing a kiss on her neck.
