Chapter 38

As Sui Jing drove back to Yunsang County, he saw Fan Xin supporting her chin in a daze, so he reached out and poked her between the eyebrows.

Fan Xin looked at him expressionlessly.

Sui Jing smiled, his eyes curved: "What are you thinking about?"

Fan Xin leaned back in her chair: "Sun Qianqian, she and I are quite similar."

Sui Jing sneered: "Her? Not like it."

Fan Xin smiled but said nothing. Of course it wasn't like that now. She was talking about her previous life.

Bai Wenrou left the gymnasium in a thrilling manner, with vines chasing her relentlessly.

She turned a corner and dove into a trash can.

The trash can was so smelly that Bai Wenrou almost vomited.

She covered her mouth and nose and huddled in the trash can, not daring to move.

She knew before that the vines controlled by zombies were ferocious, but this was the first time she saw the vines tearing people apart at such a close distance.

Every detail was imprinted in her mind, giving her the illusion that she was being torn apart.

When she thought of Song Yang talking one moment and being pierced by vines the next, she couldn't control her trembling body.

If I had known earlier, I would have known there was such a thing...

Bai Wenrou bit her lip and thought of Fan Xin.

Even if it's only 400ml of blood, you should agree to it!

Bai Wenrou felt regretful and annoyed, and wished she could travel back to that time and slap herself a few times.

There was a rustling sound outside, and Bai Wenrou felt a chill down her spine. Her hands and feet went numb with fear, and fear enveloped her like a thick fog.

A vine swooshed into the trash can, dragging a person out and hanging him in mid-air.

"Ah——" Bai Wenrou screamed hysterically. She was in a miserable state at the moment. Her pretty face was covered in dirt and she smelled like a trash can.

Fan Xin got out of the car and rushed over, jumped up, cut the vines with the ice sword in his hand, grabbed Bai Wenrou's collar, and brought her back to the ground.

Bai Wenrou escaped from the jaws of death, and she stared blankly at the person who rescued her at the most dangerous moment.

Grievance, fear, lingering terror, and the joy of surviving a disaster.

Bai Wenrou, with mixed emotions, could no longer control herself and burst into tears. She hugged Fan Xin's waist with both hands as if she was holding a life-saving straw.

Sui Jing's face looked grim, his eyes dark and gloomy. He grabbed Bai Wenrou's slender wrist and pulled it open without mercy.

Fan Xin glanced at him but didn't say anything.

Sui Jing narrowed his eyes and stood in front of Fan Xin. His eyes looked sinister and terrifying, like a ferocious beast protecting its food.

Bai Wenrou met his gaze and her body trembled.

She looked at Fan Xin hesitantly, without the arrogance she had before. Tears welled up in her eyes and she was about to cry.

Fan Xin twitched the corner of his mouth and said in a cold voice: "800ml of blood, do you want me to take action?"

The tears in Bai Wenrou's eyes froze. She asked in surprise, "Isn't it 400ml?"

Fan Xin's mouth curled up: "Yes, the price has increased."

The price can still be increased?! !

Bai Wenrou had a mouthful of blood stuck in her throat and glanced at Fan Xin and Sui Jing.

Damn gay!!

She raised her hand to wipe away her tears: "800 is 800, I promise, please save me."

She was afraid that if she was late, the man would raise the price again.

Fan Xin rescued all the people who were previously trapped in the gymnasium and threw them out of Yunsang County.

She returned to the manor with a full harvest.

After having 800ml of blood drawn, Bai Wenrou felt a little chest tightness and shortness of breath, but didn't seem to have any other discomforts.

I'm just so hungry.

It was already dark, and she was left outside this deserted city by Fan Xin, cursing in her heart.

Her eyes were covered with shit, and only when she was rescued did she think that the damn gay was so handsome, like a god from heaven!

Bai Wenrou couldn't walk anymore and sat down: "You damn gay, you have no humanity!"

"Hmm——" a muffled groan sounded.

Bai Wenrou's scalp exploded, and she jumped up like a spring and stepped back repeatedly.

"Who, who's there?"

Song Yang heard her somewhat sharp voice and sat up with difficulty. Seeing Bai Wenrou's pale face in the moonlight, he asked in surprise, "Bai Wenrou?"

Isn't she dead?

When Bai Wenrou saw Song Yang, she was so frightened that her mind went blank. She wanted to run, but her legs gave out and she fell to the ground: "Ghost, ghost———"

She kicked her legs and moved her body backwards, looking at Song Yang in horror.

Song Yang looked at Bai Wenrou's reaction and was silent for a few seconds before speaking: "I'm not a ghost, I'm still alive."

Bai Wenrou bowed with both hands, closed her eyes and muttered: "Don't blame me, don't blame me, Song Yang, you didn't kill me, don't come looking for me, after the apocalypse, I have supported you all the way, if you want to find someone to pay for your life, you should find someone else..."

"You can touch it, I have body temperature." Song Yang interrupted her mumbling.

Bai Wenrou opened her eyes and looked at the pale Song Yang. Her legs were so weak that she couldn't escape at all. She hesitated and carefully tested: "Are you really still alive?"

Song Yang tried to comfort Bai Wenrou for a long time before Bai Wenrou slowly approached and wiped his face.

The temperature was very low and cold at night. Her hands were frozen as ice. When she touched Song Yang's face, she felt a faint warmth.

Her eyes widened. "How are you still alive? How is that possible? I clearly saw you being torn apart by the vines!"

Song Yang's eyes flickered slightly as he asked about Bai Wenrou's experience.

Unlike him, she was the first one to see him being torn apart. Everyone fled, and she ran the fastest. The people behind her turned into nutrients for vines one by one. When she was almost killed by the vines, Fan Xin appeared.

Song Yang was so angry that blood rushed to his head. What else could he not understand? They had all been fooled by Fan Xin!

No matter if it was brainwashing or hallucination, in short, the vines killing people and their escape were all fake!

When Fan Xin returned to the manor, there was a limp, octopus-like vine lying on his shoulder.

The eyes covered with contact lenses in the sky behind him stared at the vines without blinking.

Fan Xin rushed back to feed the zombies. If he didn't feed them in time, they would inevitably escape from the prison, and it would be bad if they hurt people.

After feeding them for a round, Fan Xin felt deeply the lack of blood.

She needed a lot of blood, but none of the humans she had met recently had any available.

Zhang Huai was driving a modified car, and if he encountered a large group of zombies, he could just crush them.

On the way back, he was lucky and the zombies he encountered were either a few scattered ones or small groups of zombies.

He also met people who asked him for help, but he turned a blind eye to them.

After what happened with the bald man, his compassion completely disappeared.

When Zhang Huai returned to the place where he left, he saw a group of people and five cars in the distance.

One of them was his car.

Zhang Huai stopped the car without disturbing the group of people. He felt a bad feeling in his heart and his eyes were gradually filled with bloodshot.

After dark, the men returned to the car to rest, and he approached silently.

Three people sat around the fire, chatting and taking care of it.

"Is the temperature below zero? In the past, if it was this hot, I wouldn't dare go out without wrapping myself in a quilt."

"Yeah, I'm used to it now, and it feels that way."

“It’s called survival of the fittest.”

A few people shook their heads, seeming to feel that they had completely adapted to the new world and were quite proud of themselves.

They sat lazily and did not do their duty at all during the night watch.

When Zhang Huai came over, he heard intermittent snoring and faint groans of pain coming from the car.

He walked around to his car, slowly stood up and looked inside through the window.

The light was dim at night, but fortunately he was used to the darkness and could basically see what was going on inside.

There was an unknown man sitting in the driver's seat, leaning back in his chair and snoring loudly.

There was also a person in the passenger seat, also a stranger. Zhang Huai passed him by and looked behind him.

The seats in the back had been removed and replaced by a large iron cage containing several people with missing limbs.

Zhang's mother held a small piece of sharpened stone in her hand. Her legs and left hand were gone, and a lot of flesh on her body had been cut off. She was in great pain. Only her right hand and face were still intact.

This stone was given to her by Zhang's father before he died.

Death was a relief for her and Zhang's father.

But she was unwilling to accept it. Her son had not come back yet, and she didn't know how he was doing now, whether he had an accident or was fine, alive or dead.

She wanted to see her son, but was afraid of him appearing here.

Through tears, she suddenly looked up and met a pair of eyes outside the car window.

She suddenly opened her eyes and looked at the familiar face and familiar eyes in shock.

A panic rose in her heart and she shook her head frantically, but she didn't dare make a sound, for fear of alarming the demons.

"Go! Run!" She opened and closed her lips, shouting hysterically to Zhang Huai silently: "Go, go, go!"

Zhang Huai's eyes were red, and veins on the back of his hands were bulging: "Mom——"

Mother Zhang shook her head, tears streaming down her face. "Live well, Mom loves you."

The sharp stone in his hand pierced into the aorta in his neck.

Bright red blood spurted out, and Zhang Huai's vision was obscured by the overwhelming bright red.

His eyes widened, his gaze bulging.

"No!" Zhang Huai yelled heartbreakingly, completely losing his mind and banging on the car door like crazy.

Everyone was alarmed.

"Get up, get up quickly, someone is stealing the meat!"

The people around the fire and the people in other cars gathered around.

Some of them were holding sickles, some were holding sticks, and some were holding kitchen knives and machetes. They all stared at Zhang Huai warily.

Zhang Huai leaned on the car window, clenched his hands, turned around, his eyes bloodshot like a zombie.

He stared at the group of people in front of him with hatred: "What did you do to her?"

Those who were seen by him shrank back. There were obviously more of them, but for some reason, they suddenly felt uneasy.

"What are you afraid of? He's just one person, what can he do to us? Let's all attack together. If we catch him, we'll have new food reserves!"

The man standing in front shouted, holding a fruit knife.

The word "reserve food" made everyone lick their lips. Recently, they have not had enough reserve food and can only eat half full during this period.

The food diluted their timidity, and their eyes turned hot when they looked at Zhang Huai.

Reserve food—Zhang Huai’s brain felt like it was being bombarded by artillery shells.

His eyes were bloodshot as he mechanically repeated, "Reserve food?"
