Chapter 29

Chapter 29

After the two changed their clothes, Jiang Jiang's shyness faded a lot, and then they stood up and served two bowls of porridge.

She looked down at Xiaobai and said softly, "Xiaobai, have some porridge."

Xiaobai looked at Jiang Jiang and nodded.

In fact, Xiaobai was not injected with much medicine. After a night, the medicine in her body almost disappeared completely. Especially after she had just had a good sleep, she clearly felt the controllability of her body.

It's just that she really enjoys Jiang Jiang's care for her.

Jiang Jiang picked up the porridge and carefully fed Xiaobai a few mouthfuls. Seeing that Xiaobai's complexion was a little better than before, he felt a little relieved.

Xiaobai had porridge in his mouth, his eyes narrowed in pleasure, and his head shook slightly with joy unconsciously.

Her fingers kept groping at her sides, she really wanted to hug Jiang Jiang!

Jiang Jiang didn't notice Xiaobai's little movements and concentrated on feeding him porridge mouthful by mouthful.

By the time Xiaobai finished her bowl, her own bowl had also become cold. She didn't care and just took a sip and drank it.

Not long after, the old man thought they had almost changed their clothes, so he knocked on the door.

Jiang Jiang asked the old man to come in and warm himself by the fire. After all, it had just rained and the temperature was still a little low in the early morning.

The old man sat beside them, looking at them, and asked worriedly, "What happened to you? Do you want me to call the police for you?" The old man took out a brick-shaped mobile phone that only Jiang Jiang had seen when she was a child.

She was about to nod in agreement, but stopped abruptly.

She really wanted to call the police and have those people arrested, but Xiaobai couldn't be known to the police, because if they knew, they would definitely arrest Xiaobai and study him.

More importantly, that crazy woman seemed to have a certain background and seemed to be a scientist. It would be bad if she was at the national level.

Jiang Jiang thought about it and decided to refuse. She just lied and said that the two sisters were traveling and got lost in the heavy rain.

She thought for a while, borrowed the old man's brick-key phone and made a call.

Fortunately, she memorized the phone numbers of her familiar friends.

The first call was hung up. Jiang Jiang felt a sinking feeling in his heart and dialed again.

This time, the call finally connected, and Xiaoan's sleepy voice came from the phone, "Who is it? Calling so early! Don't you know that disturbing your sleep can easily lead to sudden death?!"

Jiang Jiang, “…”

"Xiaoan, it's me, Jiang Jiang." Xiaoan's words relaxed the tension in Jiang Jiang's head. "Xiaobai and I are in trouble. Can you come pick us up?"

There was silence on the other end of the line for two seconds, and then Xiaoan's sober voice came, "Where are you? I'll be there right away!"

Jiang Jiang asked the old man for the address and told Xiaoan the address.

After she hung up the phone, she felt a little more at ease.

"Thank you, uncle. My friend will come to pick us up in a while." Jiang Jiang thanked.

The old man waved his hand nonchalantly, "That's good, that's good."

It will take some time for Xiaoan to come over.

The old man seemed to have been alone for too long. When he finally saw two people, he started chatting happily.

He said he was the ranger of this forest and had lived here for decades.

He also said that this forest used to be very big, but now with the expansion of the city, the forest is getting smaller and smaller, and the wild animals in it are running away and being caught. He is afraid that his job is coming to an end.

After listening to the old man's words, Jiang Jiang finally realized that he and Xiaobai had actually crossed the forest and reached the other end in one night.

Fortunately, the forest was not big, otherwise they would not be able to find the way in the forest and would definitely be desperate.

But because of this, Lin Yue and his men did not catch them!

When she heard the old man say that the forest was getting smaller and smaller, she felt a little emotional.

Humans seem to have been destroying forests to build cities. This is a development trend and also a progress in destroying homes.

The old man said that his family used to live here and guard the forest. Later, he felt that his son could not stay here forever, so he sent his son to the city, and he and his wife guarded the forest here.

Later, his wife passed away, and he was left alone and didn't want to leave...

About two hours later, Xiaoan arrived by car.

She was shocked when she saw the appearance of Jiang Jiang and Xiaobai.

Although the two had changed into clean clothes, their faces were pale, their expressions were tired, and they looked extremely miserable.

"What's wrong with you?" Xiaoan asked anxiously.

Jiang Jiang shook his head and signaled her not to ask first.

Xiaoan understood and didn't ask any more questions. He just thanked the old man.

Fortunately, Xiaoan was thoughtful and worried that mobile payment would not be possible in remote areas, so he took out some cash. Jiang Jiang secretly put the cash on the table as a thank you fee.

Xiaoan helped Jiang Jiang and Xiaobai into the car, and quickly got in to rush to the hospital.

"Don't go to the hospital, go home!" Jiang Jiang's tense nerves completely relaxed. Her face was as pale as paper, and her voice was so soft that it seemed to disappear at the touch, but her tone was still decisive.

Xiao An couldn't help but ask, "What happened? Why are you here and in such a mess?"

Jiang Jiang leaned back in his chair, closed his eyes tiredly, his mind groggy, and spoke softly, "We were kidnapped, um... we finally escaped with great difficulty."

Xiaoan was so frightened that she slammed on the brakes, causing the car to come to a sudden stop. Her eyes widened in shock. "Kidnapping? Is this true? Kidnapping??"

Seeing that Jiang Jiang didn't refute her, she looked at Xiaobai and nodded, her face solemn, "Let's go, let's call the police!"

Jiang Jiang shook his head and said, "No, let's go back to my house!"

Xiaoan frowned, unwilling to agree, "This is kidnapping! You can't let those bad guys go!"

Jiang Jiang still shook his head and insisted on going back home.

Xiaoan couldn't persuade Jiang Jiang, so she pursed her lips.

Jiang Jiang has her own ideas and should have made her own decision not to call the police.

Xiaoan had no choice but to drive them back to Jiang Jiang's house.

Xiaobai originally wanted to pretend to be in the house and lean on Jiang Jiang's shoulder, but when she noticed that Jiang Jiang's body was shaking slightly and her lips were a little pale, she didn't bother to pretend to be weak anymore. She immediately stood up and anxiously hugged Jiang Jiang to check the situation.

Jiang Jiang had frowned tightly, closed his eyes, and leaned back in his chair.

Xiaobai saw the abnormal blush on Jiang Jiang's pale cheeks and hurriedly said to Xiaoan, "Let's go to the hospital, Jiang Jiang, Jiang Jiang, she's sick!"

However, just as she finished speaking, Jiang Jiang opened his eyes and shook his head, his voice weak but firm, "Go home, I want to go home!"

Xiaoan looked at her and finally nodded, "Okay, go back to your home."

After hearing Xiaoan's agreement, Jiang Jiang closed his eyes again, not caring about anything else and enduring the splitting headache.

The car drove to Jiang Jiang's house, and Xiaoan and Xiaobai helped Jiang Jiang into the house.

As soon as Jiang Jiang entered the door, he completely relaxed, as if all his strength had been drained away at that moment.

She staggered to the sofa, then suddenly felt a black screen and fainted.

Xiaoan and Xiaobai were startled and ran over quickly.

Xiaobai moved even faster, picked up Jiang Jiang and quickly put her on the bed.

She was very worried and reached out to touch Jiang Jiang's forehead again, only to find it was terribly hot.

"She has a high fever! What should I do? What should I do?" Xiaobai said anxiously. She sat by the bed, looking at a loss, tears welling up in her eyes.

Xiaoan quickly went to find antipyretics and a towel. While asking Xiaobai to physically cool Jiang Jiang down, he brought a cup of warm water and said, "Give her medicine first to reduce her fever. If she doesn't get better, we'll have to go to the hospital!"

Xiaobai sat on the edge of the bed, holding Jiang Jiang's hand tightly with one hand, and wiping Jiang Jiang's cheeks, neck and hands with a warm towel in the other hand.

She regrets it so much now. It's all because of her. It's all her fault. If it weren't for her, Jiang Jiang wouldn't be like this!

She was very upset. Seeing Jiang Jiang frowning because of the discomfort, she wished she could bear the pain instead of Jiang Jiang.

It was bright outside, and in the community garden downstairs, the quiet morning gradually became noisy and lively.

But the room was still very quiet.

Xiaoan cooked some ginger soup, brought it to the bedside, and asked Xiaobai to feed it to Jiang Jiang later.

"You should drink something too. She still needs your care and can't fall sick!" Xiaoan said.

Although she really wanted to ask these two people what happened, she knew that now was not the time to ask.

Xiaobai nodded, picked up the bowl and drank it in one gulp without caring about the heat or spiciness.

Xiaoan reached out to stop him, but saw Xiaobai put down the bowl decisively, opened his mouth and said nothing more.

Xiaobai gently woke Jiang Jiang up, patiently blew the ginger tea to cool it down, and fed it to Jiang Jiang spoonful by spoonful. Only when Jiang Jiang shook her head and indicated that she didn't want to drink it did he put the bowl on the bedside.

Jiang Jiang closed his eyes and fell asleep again.

Xiaoan sat aside and looked at the time, feeling a little hesitant.

"You go to work." Xiaobai said without turning his head. After tucking the corner of Jiang Jiang's quilt, he turned his head to look at Xiaoan, "Thank you so much for today."

Xiaoan opened her mouth to say something, but Xiaobai interrupted her.

"It's okay, I can take care of Jiang Jiang!"

Xiaobai's eyes were firm, and there was an inexplicable sense of conviction in them, which made people feel a little confused.

Xiaoan hesitated for a moment and nodded, "Okay, then I'll ask for leave for Jiang Jiang!" After that, she left for work.

After Xiaoan left, the room became quiet again.

Xiaobai leaned against Jiang Jiang and hugged her gently, as if this could give her strength.

Time felt long and difficult, but fortunately Jiang Jiang was young and in good physical condition.

Jiang Jiang's breathing gradually became longer and his frown relaxed, and Xiaobai finally breathed a sigh of relief.

While relaxing, he hugged his beloved Jiang Jiang. Xiaobai's head was next to Jiang Jiang's head, and he fell asleep unconsciously.

She fell into a dream again.

The dream still revolved around the princess and her ginger.

Xiaobai felt as if she was possessed by the princess again. She opened her eyes and looked at her hands. She felt that they were clear, yet with an indescribable sense of illusion.

She stood in a hazy white, with a faint mist all around her. There seemed to be a hint of the smell of burning paper and incense in the air.

She didn't know what was going on yet, but she saw Jiang Jiang kneeling on the ground, her hands tightly clutching the corners of her clothes, her shoulders trembling slightly, and tears silently sliding down her face.

Jiang Jiang's face was filled with pain and despair. She almost fainted from crying, but she still sobbed and put paper money into the brazier.

Her heart suddenly tightened, and she ran over eagerly, wanting to hug Jiang Jiang, comfort her, and tell her not to cry, as she would feel bad.

However, when she ran towards Jiang Jiang and wanted to hug her, she found that she had actually passed through Jiang Jiang's body.

She stood there in a daze, looked down at her hands, and then turned back to look at Jiang Jiang.

Jiang Jiang was still kneeling there, completely unaware of her presence.

It seemed that Jiang Jiang couldn't see her at all...

"Jiang Jiang? Jiang Jiang!" She called out anxiously, her voice echoing in the room, but there was no response.

Only then did she see clearly that the room was all white.

White curtains hung from the ceiling, white flowers were hung on the plaque, and the air was filled with a solemn and heavy atmosphere. The servants outside the door were all dressed in mourning clothes, with their heads bowed and sobbing.

She looked back in surprise and saw a coffin placed in front of her in the middle of the hall.

Her heart sank, and she quickly walked to the coffin, wanting to see who was lying inside.

However, when she got closer, she saw herself lying in the coffin.

"How is this possible? How is this possible?"

She looked back at Jiang Jiang, wanting to say that she was still alive and still here, but she found that Jiang Jiang couldn't see her at all and was still crying in grief.

She felt that this must be a dream! This was impossible!

Jiang Jiang was already lying on the ground, sobbing uncontrollably.

"Jiang Jiang, I'm here, don't cry, don't cry..." She didn't care about anything else, she only saw Jiang Jiang was sad and grieving, she didn't want to make Jiang Jiang so painful.

"Jiang Jiang..."

However, Jiang Jiang fainted on the ground due to excessive grief.

“No, Jiang Jiang! No!” She murmured to herself, and finally shouted, “Someone, call the imperial physician, someone! Someone, someone, come quickly!!”

But no one could hear her voice.

The group of servants outside the door seemed not to have seen what happened. They still stood at the door with their heads down, pretending to sob.

All this made her feel heartbroken.
