Chapter 1 Ah! I'm dead.

Chapter 1 Ah! I'm dead.

"Urgent Notice! Urgent Notice! Following an official announcement, all employees are to be immediately dismissed! Please return home immediately and do not go out!"

An announcement came over the loudspeaker, and everyone looked up at the sky before whispering among themselves:

"What's going on?"

"The company has never issued such an evacuation notice."

"Earthquake? Typhoon?"

"We don't experience earthquakes in this plain area, and even typhoons are usually warned in advance. How come we haven't heard a single word about it this time?"

...

Lin Xi, who was on her way to pick up a customer's takeout, huddled in the crowd, listening to their whispers, and her curiosity grew.

She took out her phone, opened the Green Bubble group "Sharing Blessings and Leaving in Times of Trouble," and after typing just two words, two new messages popped up:

[Jiang Xiaoli: Why did the broadcast suddenly announce an emergency evacuation? @Li Sijia]

[Li Sijia: I don't know, I don't have any information about it.]

It seems that the message was not only urgently announced in the elevator, but also received in the office.

Just as Lin Xi was about to reply to the message, the elevator doors opened.

"Ding! Urgent notice: All departments are requested to immediately dismiss their employees. Everyone, please go home and take refuge!"

"Didi! Urgent notification..."

The alarm sounded on a loop throughout the entire building.

However, no one cared. It was 10:00 AM, the company had just started operating, the slacker had just ordered his coffee, and most people were working in their cubicles.

The hall was filled only with busy oxen and horses.

For example, Lin Xi.

In no time, Lin Xi had already picked up the takeout from the back door of the lobby, but the building's alarm was still echoing, repeating itself like a death knell.

Lin Xi couldn't help but send a message to the group:

[Lin Xi: So, was there an emergency evacuation? If so, the people on the first floor just slipped away.]

[Jiang Xiaoli: 360 said they wouldn't lay off any employees, and even said that an extra person from the leadership had arrived, so they asked you to prepare five cups of coffee.]

[Lin Xi: Where am I supposed to get an extra cup of coffee? I'll just replace them all with bottled water.]

360 is Zhou Ling, the finance department head where Lin Xi works. The reason she was given this nickname is because she often monitors the work status of the employees in the surveillance team, which is comparable to 360-degree surveillance without blind spots.

A reply came in the group a short while later.

[Wei Shuhan: 360 said no, the boss needs coffee to stay awake while jet-lagged.]

The nickname "360" comes not only from Zhou Ling's love of watching surveillance footage, but also from her frequent and absurd demands, attacking working-class people from every angle.

For example, right now, the coffee is ordered in advance and delivered, and the hospitality strategy doesn't change even if there's an extra person at the last minute.

[Li Sijia: Xixi, what are you going to do?]

Lin Xi calmly typed a reply on her phone:

[Pour coffee in the face of each leader, one cup at a time, then give the last leader without coffee a wicked smile and tell them they got lucky this time.]

[Li Sijia: You should still get a scolding, feel utterly ashamed and indignant, and then hang yourself at your 360 workstation the next day.]

Lin Xi was speechless for a moment.

The only solution now is to go back and find five cups, then divide the coffee evenly among them and make do.

Just then, a scream came from the entrance of the hall. Lin Xi looked toward the source of the scream and saw that the hall guard had been tackled to the ground by someone. His two colleagues rushed to pull him away, but they saw that the person who tackled him was burying his head in the guard's neck and twisting it. The guard struggled and screamed in pain.

But the person who tackled him was extremely strong, and the other two colleagues were unable to pull him up.

Soon, a bright red stain appeared on the warm yellow floor tiles—it was blood!

Was that person biting the security guard?

Lin Xi stared in disbelief at the scene. How could someone attack another person by biting them in broad daylight?

The bitten gatekeeper gushed blood from his carotid artery, twitched a few times on the ground, and then slowly went still.

The man who bit the other slowly raised his head, revealing a face covered in blood. His eyes were white, and he stood up with a contorted neck. Suddenly, he lunged at another guard.

Lin Xi's pupils dilated in shock. This gushing blood didn't look staged! So the person biting him was... a zombie!

She couldn't believe it. She watched as the guard who had been bitten to death suddenly stood up, his neck stiff and limbs twisted, his eyes bloodshot. He looked at his colleague beside him, let out a low howl, and pounced on him.

What this zombie did was even more horrific. Its blackened fingers pierced into a person's chest, gushing blood from the ripped-open chest and splattering it all over the zombie's face.

"Ah ...

Several other receptionists in the lobby also screamed.

It would have been better if it hadn't made a sound. The sound attracted the zombies fighting at the door, and they rushed over.

Everyone instinctively ran. A receptionist wearing high heels took only one step before falling to the ground. As the zombies drew closer, she frantically reached out to Lin Xi for help.

But Lin Xi dared not go forward; she turned and ran away.

In the instant I turned around, my gaze was fixed on an even more horrific scene—the receptionist, who had fallen to the ground, was struggling on the ground, her limbs being grabbed and screaming in agony. However, those limbs were quickly separated from her body and were being held and devoured by several zombies.

This one met an even worse fate; he was literally torn apart alive!

Lin Xi ran towards another door without looking back.

In an instant, the building's alarm blared amidst the screams of the crowd, and Lin Xi finally realized the purpose of this emergency notification.

In just two minutes, three people died in front of her. Some were bitten to death, some had their chests ripped out, and some were eaten.

Her scalp tingled; no matter which way she died, it would be incredibly painful.

She couldn't help but scream in her heart: Is there any way to die quickly and painlessly before being killed by zombies?!

But right now, all she could do was instinctively run away. With the preconceived notion from the broadcast information, Lin Xi felt she should go home to take refuge.

Lin Xi took off running towards the other door, her eyelids twitching wildly—

The spacious hall was packed with a dark mass of zombies at the main entrance. The zombies, with their necks stiff and eyes bloodshot, were about to squeeze through the main entrance, but they quickened their pace and rushed over as soon as they saw her.

Lin Xi tried to stop, but she hadn't exercised in years and was uncoordinated. She couldn't stop in time and fell straight down the steps, rolling to the zombie's feet.

Lin Xi thought to herself, "This is it, I'm doomed," and immediately teleported to her death. Before she could even get up, Lin Xi was trampled by a zombie that, like her, couldn't stop in time.

"Ah! Help..." Lin Xi was so badly trampled that she couldn't catch her breath, and her vision was blurry. Before she could finish her cry of pain, zombies, unaware of the situation, trampled on her one after another.

Lin Xi is dead.

Before she died, she cried out in despair and lamented—

She saw people being bitten to death, grabbed to death, and torn to death by zombies, and she was terrified, but she never expected that she would unlock a new way to die.

He was actually trampled to death by a zombie!

In her final moments, she was overjoyed: Hahaha, thank goodness I'm dead! I don't have to worry about being bitten to death by zombies anymore!
