Chapter 158 The Thieves Arrive

Bai Chuxiao smiled slightly, "A joke? Why do you think I would appear here so brazenly?"

Chu Tianling stepped forward, staring intently at the composed woman before him. "Do you think I'd believe that? Even if Father left something behind, it was nothing more than establishing a crown prince. Now that the crown prince is dead, what use is even a will?"

Bai Chuxiao raised an eyebrow. "His Majesty has already discovered the poison you gave Cheng Song. What do you think His Majesty will do to you and Prince An, given his iron-fisted methods?"

Chu Tianling's eyes darkened, still somewhat disbelieving. "Why should I believe you?"

Bai Chuxiao smiled and said, "It's very simple. Let us leave the capital. Once I've safely left the capital, I will naturally hand over the imperial edict to you."

Chu Tianling suddenly became somewhat annoyed, "Bai Chuxiao, in what way do I lack compared to the Seventh Prince? Are you so devoted to him? I can still give you another chance."

Bai Chuxiao rolled her eyes inwardly. "This princess has no interest in being a concubine."

Chu Tianling suddenly chuckled. Originally, he had planned to torture this woman thoroughly after capturing her, but now he felt a little reluctant. "If you follow me wholeheartedly, the position of Empress might be yours."

Bai Chuxiao was speechless for a moment. What a lunatic!

Seeing this, Chu Tianling continued, "Do you still care about what the world thinks? I don't mind if you live with Seventh Prince. If you come with me, we'll find another opportunity to kill Seventh Prince. Who dares to say anything then?"

Bai Chuxiao was puzzled. Had this guy gone mad after getting the throne? What kind of quirks were these? "Oh? If Your Highness were to kill Princess Qi and Princess Zhaoyang now, this princess might consider it. Oh, and by the way, Yuwen Minke should be killed too."

Chu Tianling frowned, "Bai Chuxiao!"

Bai Chuxiao smiled slightly, "Princess Qi and Princess Zhaoyang are still here, how can I, a princess, be the empress?"

Chu Tianling's eyes darkened. "Not now. You can stay by my side for now, and I'll deal with you gradually."

Bai Chuxiao said indifferently, "Oh, then that means she doesn't even qualify as a concubine."

Chu Tianling said slowly, "With your help in consolidating my throne, I will naturally be able to eliminate them quickly, and the position of Empress will surely be yours."

Bai Chuxiao raised an eyebrow and said, "Since Your Highness isn't sincere, let's get down to business."

Now she thinks Chu Tianling is the one most like Emperor Wenxuan; both are the kind of heartless, ruthless, ungrateful, and treacherous people who discard their benefactors after using them.

Chu Tianling's face showed displeasure. "Bai Chuxiao, don't be so stubborn. My patience is running out. This is your last chance."

He was willing to treat a married woman with the rank of Empress, setting aside past grievances—that showed great sincerity and was quite unlike his usual style. Yet, this woman was still toying with him.

Bai Chuxiao smiled faintly, "Let Prince Qi have his chance; I am not worthy of it. The will allows us to leave the capital. What does Prince Qi think?"

Chu Tianling was somewhat suspicious. He knew Emperor Wenxuan's temperament; if he knew that it was he who had poisoned the Imperial Guard Commander, there was indeed a possibility that he would leave something behind. "I'll consider it. You should go back first."

Bai Chuxiao raised an eyebrow. "If Prince Qi hasn't made a decision in three days, this edict will be revealed to the world. At worst, I'll just die. Then Prince Qi and my royal uncle will come down to keep me company, so I won't be lonely, will I?"

Having said that, he turned and left without looking at Chu Tianling's expression.

Inside the main hall of the Prince of Yan's residence, the secret guards who had gone to the foot of Zhaoyun Peak had all stopped their training. All the personnel in the capital, except for the Flying Cloud Cavalry led by Cui Hao, had gathered in the hall.

Yu Fengyang raised an eyebrow and asked, "Your Highness, what was the outcome of the discussion with Prince Qi?"

Bai Chuxiao smiled slightly, "Three days are up, but tonight won't be peaceful."

Yu Fengyang said with a smile, "Does the King of Qi intend to steal something?"

Xia Fan rubbed his nose. "Young Master Yu, the Prince of Qi is already the emperor. This kind of theft is inappropriate."

Lin Huai said calmly, "The coronation ceremony hasn't been held yet, so he can't be considered an emperor."

Bai Chuxiao calmly took a sip of tea. "Alright, everyone go and make preparations. Tonight, not a single person who enters the Prince of Yan's residence can be let go, understand?"

"yes"

Yu Fengyang laughed, "Your Highness, are you that confident?"

Bai Chuxiao raised an eyebrow slightly. "He's the emperor now. He can't possibly send a large army to besiege my Prince Yan's residence, can he? Stealing things will naturally be done with a tail between his legs. Just wait and see; maybe we'll even see two old friends tonight."

As night fell, a biting wind blew. Yu Fengyang and Bai Chuxiao, dressed in light, close-fitting clothes, stood with their hands behind their backs in the front yard, gazing at the moonlight and waiting quietly.

Consort Jing stepped forward with a smile and said, "Xiaoxiao, General Yu..."

Bai Chuxiao turned around, pulled her cloak tighter, and said with a smile, "Mother, why did you come out? It's cold at night; what if you catch a chill?"

Yu Fengyang also bowed respectfully, saying, "Your Highness can simply call me Fengyang."

After tying the cloak around her neck, Consort Jing smiled at the two of them and said, "You're quite the one who should know, dressed so thinly in this cold weather."

Bai Chuxiao smiled shyly, "Mother, I practice martial arts, this little bit of cold is nothing to me."

Consort Jing smiled faintly, "Then you should wear more clothes."

Bai Chuxiao scratched her head, and Consort Jing smiled again, "Feng Yang and Tianze are friends, so there's no need to stand on ceremony now that we're outside the palace. Just call me Auntie from now on."

Yu Fengyang smiled and said, "Auntie is right."

Just then, sounds of fighting came from all over the Prince Yan's residence. Consort Jing frowned and asked, "Xiao Xiao, what's going on?"

Bai Chuxiao smiled faintly, "They're just some petty thieves who came to steal things. Why don't you go back and rest, Mother?"

Consort Jing looked worried, and Yu Fengyang added, "Auntie, everything will be alright."

Consort Jing smiled faintly, "Very well, I won't disturb you. Just be careful."

A group of men in black landed silently in the courtyard. Bai Chuxiao remained expressionless, while Yu Fengyang raised an eyebrow and said, "Your Highness, dressed like a ball, can you even lift a sword?"

Bai Chuxiao glanced at the cloak still wrapped around her, a fox fur collar, and smirked, "Would you like to try it?"

Yu Fengyang quickly waved his hand; there were so many petty thieves, he didn't want to get beaten up.

The men in black kept trying to rush in, but none of them broke through the front yard's defenses. Corpses lay scattered on the ground. Bai Chuxiao smiled slightly, "They're really quite composed."

Yu Fengyang asked leisurely, "Who is the Princess Consort?"

No sooner had she finished speaking than two men in black robes suddenly joined the fray. One was tall and imposing, the other rather slender. Bai Chuxiao smiled and snapped her fingers.

Zhan Chi, Xia Fan, and Lin Huai suddenly appeared out of nowhere and surrounded the two.

Bai Chuxiao said loudly, "Mu Linfeng, your master's great cause has been accomplished, why are you still hiding your true intentions like this?"

Mu Linfeng, who was being attacked by three people, snorted coldly. Yu Fengyang raised an eyebrow, "Who's the other one?"

Bai Chuxiao blinked. "Isn't this obvious?"
