"Bai Chuxiao, you come out here!" Chu Fengle, accompanied by several fierce-looking servants, stepped into the Left Prime Minister's residence.
"Greetings, Princess Yongcheng," the old lady said, leading Madam Xie and the others forward to greet her.
"Get out of my way! This princess wants to see Bai Chuxiao!" Chu Fengle said angrily.
She's about to marry into Bei Yan, all thanks to Bai Chuxiao. She's a princess, after all; surely she can teach Bai Chuxiao a lesson and vent her anger?
As for winning over the Prince of Yan and cultivating good relations with the Bai family, what business is it of hers? Even if her brother, the Crown Prince, ascends to the throne, so what? Whether she'll even survive after marrying into Bei Yan is uncertain at that point.
"What's wrong with the Second Princess?" Bai Chuxiao rushed over upon hearing the news.
"You lot, seize her! This princess is going to teach this arrogant fool a lesson today!" Chu Fengle said to the men behind her.
She knew Bai Chuxiao was skilled in martial arts, so she brought several skilled fighters with her. Besides, would Bai Chuxiao dare to hit a princess like herself?
No one else in the mansion dared to speak, while Madam Xie wore a look of schadenfreude, hoping that Bai Chuxiao would be given a good beating.
Seeing that things were getting out of hand, the old lady quickly stepped forward to persuade her, "Princess, please calm down. We can sit down and talk things over."
Chu Fengle sneered, "This princess is about to go on a political marriage. It's all the work of your Bai family. I'll let it slide because of your age. But if you step forward again, I'll teach you a lesson too."
The old lady looked rather displeased after being humiliated.
Bai Chuxiao's eyes held a hint of coldness. "Aunt Yingchun, take Grandmother back to rest. I, the Princess, will handle this matter myself."
Yingchun nodded. This was not something they could interfere with; after all, the young lady held the status of a princess.
Seeing that the unrelated people had left, Chu Fengle said sternly, "Aren't you all going now?"
Upon hearing this, the servants behind her quickly stepped forward. Princess Changning was indeed formidable, but they were the Empress's people and naturally had to obey the princess.
Bai Chuxiao sneered, not ordering Qing Shuang and Qing Zhu to intervene. After all, it was a princess who needed to be injured; she herself was a princess, but her maids were a different story.
Taking the whip from Qingzhu, with a few 'swish' strokes, several relatively strong servants collapsed to the ground, groaning in pain.
Chu Fengle was furious. "Bai Chuxiao, how dare you!"
Bai Chuxiao raised an eyebrow. "What, am I supposed to just stand here and wait to be beaten?"
"You're just a princess. If I, this princess, tell you to kneel, you kneel. If I, this princess, want to beat you, you can't resist," Chu Fengle said through gritted teeth.
Bai Chuxiao smiled slightly, "Alright, this princess will stand right here, you can come and hit me, Your Highness."
Chu Fengle was somewhat suspicious. Would she really be so obedient? She gave her head maid, Chun Tao, a look, and said, "Go, give her a good slap in the face for this princess."
Chun Tao nodded. Although she was somewhat afraid of this ruthless princess, she still stepped forward. Bai Chuxiao stood still, watching her with a smile.
Chun Tao steeled her heart and raised her hand to slap her face, but just as her hand was about to strike, a sharp pain shot through her leg, causing her to involuntarily kneel down.
"Oh dear, Miss Chuntao, why are you bowing so deeply to this princess? You are a favorite of the princess; this kneeling gesture is unacceptable to me," Bai Chuxiao said with a gentle smile, looking down at her.
"To bow to this wretched woman? This is outrageous!" Chu Feng was furious. "Chun Tao, what are you doing? Get up for this princess!"
Bai Chuxiao smiled even more sweetly and ordered, "Qingshuang, why don't you help our Chuntao up?"
"yes"
Qing Shuang supported Chun Tao's back with one hand and grasped Chun Tao's wrist with the other, saying softly, "Miss Chun Tao, please get up."
Chun Tao felt as if her back was about to break, and cried out in pain, "You..."
Qing Shuang looked completely bewildered. "What's wrong?"
Chun Tao was in so much pain she could barely speak. Knowing it was Chun Tao's doing, she was about to yell at her when another sharp pain shot through her wrist, as if a tendon had been severed.
"ah…"
"Oh dear, what's wrong with Sister Chuntao? Has she gone mad?" Qing Shuang asked with a worried frown.
Bai Chuxiao's lips curled up. "It does look a bit like it. A princess can't have a madwoman by her side..."
Chu Fengle wasn't stupid either, and she immediately stepped forward angrily, shouting, "You lowly servant, get out of my way!"
Qing Shuang nonchalantly let go of Bai Chuxiao's hand and stood behind her.
Chun Tao, who had been kneeling, collapsed to the ground without Qing Shuang's support, convulsing in pain.
Chu Fengle looked flustered. "What have you done, you lowly servant?"
Qing Shuang said helplessly, "Princess, I'm innocent! Sister Chun Tao is probably only focused on kowtowing to our princess, and we can't get her up no matter what we do."
"Chuntao, tell me, did that lowly servant hit you? This princess will stand up for you." If you can't punish Bai Chuxiao, surely you can teach that lowly servant a lesson?
Chun Tao pointed to her wrist, then to the back of her hand. Chu Fengle, seeing this, lifted her sleeve, but there wasn't even a bruise on her wrist.
Bai Chuxiao shrugged. "Princess, you saw it. Our Qing Shuang didn't do anything. It was Chun Tao who lost her mind."
Upon hearing this, Chu Fengle was furious and immediately lunged at Bai Chuxiao.
Bai Chuxiao raised an eyebrow. Madmen are the scariest. With a sidestep, Chu Fengle fell straight to the ground.
"Princess…"
The servants who had been lying on the ground cried out in panic, "If the princess is injured, we'll all be in deep trouble!"
But shouting was useless; Chu Fengle still took a solid fall.
Bai Chuxiao crouched down and asked with some concern, "Oh, Princess, let me help you up. How could you slip and fall on flat ground? That's strange."
Chu Fengle angrily slapped her hand away, "Get away!"
Then she felt a pang of sadness. Why was she, a princess by birthright, living such a miserable life? Her father, the Emperor, didn't love her at all. Not only did he want to send her away to a distant land, but now he couldn't even handle a mere county princess. Thinking of this, she couldn't help but shed tears.
The more she thought about it, the sadder she became. In the end, she simply didn't get up and sat on the ground, sobbing uncontrollably. Her hairpins were a little disheveled, and she looked rather pitiful.
Bai Chuxiao blinked, somewhat bewildered. What was going on?
"Princess, why are you doing this? Xiao Chen is the legitimate prince, so his chances of winning are very high. In the future, you will be the Empress, with a noble status. With the entire Great Xia Dynasty standing behind you, no one will dare to bully you."
Chu Fengle looked up at her, choking back tears, and said, "You make it sound so easy. What if the two countries go to war before that time? What will I do if Xiao Chen fails to seize the throne?"
Her pitiful appearance made Bai Chuxiao feel a little sorry for her; after all, it was a woman's happiness that had been sacrificed.
She couldn't help but say, "Just focus on getting married and get along well with Xiao Chen in the future. I guarantee that even if our two countries go to war, I can protect your life. If you don't believe me, you should at least believe in Chu Tianze's military capabilities, right?"
Chu Fengle sobbed, "Are you serious? You really willing to help me?" She knew her Crown Prince brother's abilities well; she couldn't rely on him. Her seventh brother was brave and skilled in battle; if war broke out, she would still have to rely on him. His promise would be more effective.
