Chapter 240 The Birth of the Little Bun

On March 20th, chaos reigned in the Prince of Yan's mansion. Servants rushed in and out of the main courtyard, and a group of people in the courtyard wore expressions of anxiety.

Kong Xihan, dressed in blue, sat in the courtyard with Murong Xuan, holding a baby. The old lady, the first wife, and the second wife stood to the side, pacing back and forth in the courtyard.

"Have you gone to inform the Prince?" Kong Xihan asked worriedly.

Murong Xuan took the child into his arms and said with a smile, "Don't worry, Xia Fan has already rushed to the military camp outside the city to inform the Prince and his maternal grandfather. He will be back soon."

Kong Xihan nodded, "Xiaoxiao is stronger than me; there hasn't been a single sign of anything for so long..."

Madam Murong, standing nearby, comforted her, "It's normal. Xiao'er just went in; it's still a long way from her due date. If she's exhausted now, what will she do later? Xihan was considered to have given birth quickly before..."

Murong Xuan gently rocked the baby in his arms and smiled tenderly, "Our Huanhuan is the best behaved, she doesn't cause any trouble at all..."

A smile appeared on Kong Xihan's face as she playfully tickled Huanhuan with her finger, "Yes, our Huanhuan will soon have a little brother..."

Murong Xuan snorted, and Kong Xihan smiled helplessly, "You still have complaints about Huanhuan having godparents..."

"It would be great if Xiaomei's child was a daughter, so that someone wouldn't have to torment our daughter every day. Huanhuan, don't you think so..."

Murong Xuan shook Huanhuan again, laughing as he spoke, not caring whether she could truly understand him or not…

"Xuan'er, don't say that. The Prince treats Huanhuan very well. I'll go in and take a look..." Madam Murong the Second glanced at Murong Xuan disapprovingly, somewhat reproachfully, before entering the room.

Murong Xuan disagreed. He hadn't said it was bad, but that person was being too good for him.

Inside the room, Bai Chuxiao lay calmly on the bed. Madam Xu and the midwives beside her were speechless. They had never seen anyone give birth so calmly.

Madam Murong the Second walked in, puzzled, and asked, "What's going on? There's not a sound at all..."

Bai Chuxiao turned her head and smiled, "Second Aunt, what brings you in?"

"It's too quiet inside. I was worried, so I came in to check on you. Your grandmother is frantic outside, but you're so carefree!"

Bai Chuxiao quickly said, "It's not that fast. It only hurt for a moment. There's still a long way to go. Tell Grandmother not to wait..."

The midwife beside her chimed in, "That's right, the princess's pregnancy hasn't really started yet; it'll be quite a while longer!"

"Mother, Second Aunt, please go out. Don't just stand here and watch; it's tiring!"

"Xiaoxiao, are you really not afraid? And it doesn't hurt? Tell your mother the truth, don't force yourself!" Madam Xu asked with some doubt. She herself had experienced excruciating pain during childbirth, but Bai Chuxiao was unusually calm.

"I'm really fine. It hurts a little, but I can bear it!" Bai Chuxiao said, touching her lower abdomen as she looked at the two suspicious eyes.

I don't know if it will hurt more later, but the pain at the beginning is nowhere near as bad as being shot or stabbed...

"Okay, if you feel uncomfortable, just shout it out. Don't hold it in. What would you like to eat? I'll go prepare it for you. You'll eat your fill after you give birth."

"Let Mother arrange it!" Bai Chuxiao said with a nonchalant smile. Just thinking that she would be free after today and would be lively and energetic again made her want to eat two more bowls of rice.

Seeing her like this, Madam Xu and Madam Murong exchanged a glance and then left helplessly.

Inside the military camp outside the city, Chu Tianze and Murong Yuan were inspecting the drill ground.

Xia Fan, who had rushed over, had just dismounted and hadn't even finished speaking when he arrived.

"What?"

Chu Tianze was startled. Without giving any further instructions, he took Xia Fan's horse and quickly disappeared from the camp.

Murong Yuan shook his head, "Is it really necessary to be in such a hurry? Let's go back too..."

Xia Fan scratched his head. "Your Highness is in a hurry, but even you, Marquis, aren't slow enough..."

Inside the main courtyard of the Prince's Mansion, a group of people waited from morning until dusk. Finally, movement came from the room, but it wasn't Bai Chuxiao's shouts. Instead, it was the midwife's instructions and commands, and a maid came out and then went back in with water.

"She's about to give birth!" The old lady Murong and the others waiting in the courtyard finally breathed a sigh of relief, and were no longer as nervous as before.

Inside the room, Bai Chuxiao, lying by the bed, couldn't help but frown. Madam Xu held her hand, "Xiaoxiao, how are you? Are you alright?"

Bai Chuxiao forced a smile and said, "I can hold on, Mother, you should go out..."

Madam Xu patted her and said, "I'll stay here with you. If you're in pain, just shout it out. Don't hold it in. If you can't breathe properly, it will actually make childbirth harder!"

The midwife chimed in, "Your Highness, the lady is right. If you keep going like this, it will only make things worse..."

Bai Chuxiao nodded, "I understand, I won't hold back..."

"The prince is back!"

Everyone turned around and saw Chu Tianze standing at the door, looking travel-worn and exuding an aura of iciness. He didn't even glance at them before rushing into the room.

But Murong Xuan, quick-witted and agile, stopped him, "Your Highness, please don't go in and cause trouble..."

Chu Tianze said coldly, "Get out of my way!"

Murong Xuan said helplessly, "You'll frighten the midwife if you do this. You should wait outside..."

When Xi Hansheng was born, he couldn't even get in, and with Chu Tianze looking like a dead man, he was even less likely to get in.

"Ah," came Bai Chuxiao's painful groan from inside.

Chu Tianze's expression grew even colder as he anxiously called inside, "Make way, Xiaoxiao, I'm back..."

Hearing his voice, Bai Chuxiao took a breath and said loudly, "Wait for me outside, don't come in. Second brother, stop him..."

Although she used to think that it was important for her partner to be by her side at this time, when the moment actually came, she found that she didn't want Chu Tianze to see her in such a disheveled state.

Murong Xuan shrugged. "See? Your Highness, you should just stay outside and not go in and distract Xiao-mei..."

Chu Tianze stopped in his tracks, not insisting on going in, but his expression was as somber as still water.

Leaning against the window, listening to the constant moans of pain coming from inside, Chu Tianze felt a sense of helplessness. Xiao Xiao, who was usually so strong-willed, was in so much pain. Childbirth was indeed a torturous experience. Xiao Xiao was right; once was enough.

Another hour passed, and finally the sound of a baby crying came from inside. Chu Tianze did not hesitate any longer and rushed in like a gust of wind.

The room still smelled faintly of blood. Several midwives were cleaning the baby. They were startled when they saw someone come in, but when they saw that it was Chu Tianze, they dared not say anything and lowered their heads to continue their work.

Madam Xu smiled as she saw Chu Tianze enter, made way for him, and quietly left.

Chu Tianze didn't even glance at the child, rushing straight to the bedside. Looking at Bai Chuxiao, whose face was pale and forehead covered in sweat, he softly asked, "Xiaoxiao, how are you?"
