In the weeks leading up to Monday's sudden onset, Yang Ye couldn't sleep. She tried counting sheep, drinking hot milk, and lighting various sleep-inducing aromatherapy devices in her room, but nothing helped. Frustrated by this sudden onset of insomnia, she went to the hospital and got some sleeping pills, which only allowed her to fall asleep.

That day, she slept for a very long and deep time, so long that Xiao Xiao thought she had taken too many sleeping pills and passed away.

In the dream, she and Xue Shangyang were walking together in Guaigun Hutong. The master in the alley could make sugar figures. They were in front of the master's stall, and Yang Ye asked for a rabbit-shaped one. They walked home together arm in arm, back to the home they had when they were newly married, watched movies and circuses together, and went for walks in the park on the outskirts of the city.

On the train platform, they hugged for a long time, as if they wanted to hold each other tightly in their arms. Hearing Xue Shangyang's heartbeat, she felt Xue Shangyang loosen his hand first. He walked forward, and his back in military uniform became farther and farther away from her eyes. He stepped onto the train, and the moment he grabbed the handrail, he stopped.

Xue Shangyang turned his head and looked at Yang Ye. The reluctance in his eyes was more obvious and deeper than ever before.

Yang Ye looked inexplicably flustered. She wanted to run over and hug Xue Shangyang one last time, but in the blink of an eye, Xue Shangyang and the train waiting on the platform disappeared.

Before her eyes was a chaotic white mist, and the sound of the train whistle seemed to be far away. The adjutant said that the train had already started and Xue Shangyang had left on the train. Yang Ye was very anxious. She rushed forward regardless, but she could only see the vague outline of Xue Shangyang.

He was wearing the dark blue suit that Yang Ye was very familiar with, and standing in Yang Ye's former home.

The feeling of uneasiness grew stronger and stronger. Yang Ye noticed that Xue Shangyang was very young at this moment, just like when she first saw him. Xue Shangyang was sitting in the chair in the entrance hall and waving at her.

For a moment, Yang Ye was speechless, as if all the strength in her body had been drained away. Xue Shangyang was getting farther and farther away from her, his clear figure gradually blurring until he turned into a black dot and completely disappeared from her sight.

People were coming and going on the platform, but Yang Ye was the only one standing there in a daze, with a dull expression and empty eyes looking into the distance.

The sound of gunfire started again.

Xiao Xiao came to see Yang Ye once in the morning, but she didn't disturb her because she saw that Yang Ye was still asleep. She waited until the afternoon and then the sun set in the west. When the sky outside was completely dark, she still didn't show up.

Xiao Xiao knocked on the door and went in, seeing Yang Ye sitting on the bed.

The whole person is just a dim outline

"Boss" Xiao Xiao turned on the light in the room.

"Boss" Xiao Xiao called her again.

Yang Ye still didn't respond.

Xiao Xiao felt strange. She walked over and saw Yang Ye hugging his knees tightly with his head lowered.

"Boss, what's wrong with you?"

"He's gone," Yang Ye said.

She raised her head and looked at Xiao Xiao helplessly like a lost child, her eyes panicked, as if she had lost all her life.

"Xiao Xiao, he's gone"

The deep night enveloped the sky, and the sparse shadows of the trees were stretched into long and thin by the moonlight, casting them obliquely on the cold ground.

Familiar memories become stories, and become history that we can no longer reach.

After wiping the dust off the tombstone, she looked at the familiar name on it with a smile.

Twenty years ago, the government wanted to develop the mountainous area, so they moved all the tombs there and found this spot specifically for it. When Yang Ye bought the house next door, he also bought it, thinking he could use it for himself in the future.

"What's wrong with you? I haven't been here for just a month, why is there so much grass growing next to you?" Yang Ye smiled, pulled out all the grass around, took out two empty cups from his bag, and filled them with wine.

"The owner of the flower shop at the corner of the street is pregnant, so the sunflowers this time were arranged by her husband." Yang Ye sat down cross-legged. Perhaps she really felt that she was old, so when she sat down, she used the tombstone as a support board.

"You haven't been around for so many years, yet you still helped me sit down," Yang Ye said jokingly. "In recent years, I always feel that I am almost done and my days should be over. Hey, what did you say to Master Chu Fang? How many years do you have to live? How can you let me live so long?"

"Look at you, you're not living your own life at such an old age, and you're letting me, who should have died a long time ago, live. It's meaningless," she sighed softly.

Picking up her own wine glass, she habitually clinked it with the glass on the ground. "Do you still remember the assistant I told you about before, the girl? She's getting married. She showed me her wedding photos a few days ago. Wedding photos nowadays are so varied, and the clothes are all beautiful. It's not like our time, when I wore a cheongsam and a white wedding dress, and you just wore a suit, and the photos didn't look anything new."

"She took me to see a movie a few days ago. It was about the Korean War. You don't know how many wars we fought after you left. I ran from north to south, and then from south to north. Forget it. You've listened to me talk about these troubles for so many years, and you must be tired of them. Look at you, you died at the beginning of the war, and you didn't catch up with all the things that happened later. Isn't it a loss? Don't you hate it?"

She sat down a little further, resting her head on the tombstone, just like she had rested her head on Xue Shangyang's shoulder many years ago. "I saw that short video a few days ago. Some young people found the remains of former soldiers in the mountains. Hey, even if they find yours, don't go with them. Just stay here with me. I'll come find you when I'm old. I chose this place for us. Okay, I've inquired about it. There will be a park four miles south. Didn't you like taking me to the park before? Now that we're so close, we can go to the park every day. You have to keep the money I burned before and don't spend it carelessly. When I'm gone, no one will burn money for us. We have to save some money and can't be as extravagant as before. Tell me if you don't have enough money.

"Look at you, it's been decades, why haven't you even given me a dream? Does it cost money to send me a dream? If it does, then I won't. I thought about it, if you don't come to see me, it means you are fine, but if you are fine, you should at least tell me. I am always thinking about you, and I always feel lonely if you don't come."

Her throat felt like it was clogged, and her eyes were swollen. She drank the rest of the wine in the glass, and her vision of the sky gradually became misty and blurry. She closed her eyes.

"Xue Shangyang, I miss you so much"
