Chapter 763, Horse Racing
"Yiyi, it turns out it's you guys!"
Kang Naixin and Wu Xirong came to Daohua and the others with smiles on their faces.
Daohua stood up and introduced Zhou Jingwan and Su Shiyu to the two of them. Because Yan Wentao and Yan Wenkai were there, the two of them couldn't stay for long. After exchanging a few words, they left.
Before leaving, Kang Naixin pulled Daohua and whispered, "I just saw your maid go to the manger. She did a great job!"
Looking at Kang Naixin who winked at her, Daohua smiled without saying anything.
This little episode of the Princess of Western Liao did not affect everyone's interest. After dinner, everyone started boating on the river again and did not return home until the afternoon.
Not long after I returned home, Xiao Yeyang came over.
"Did you have fun today?"
Daohua took Xiao Yeyang to the pavilion in the garden. When she heard his question, she curled her lips and said, "The scenery is nice, but the people are a bit of an eyesore."
Xiao Yeyang smiled silently and moved closer to Daohua: "Looking at Wentao and the others walking together in pairs, do you miss me?"
Daohua glanced at him and said, "Don't be so conceited. I'm having so much fun playing by myself."
Xiao Yeyang took the round fan from Daohua's hand and fanned her while explaining, "I was supposed to go today, but I suddenly received an order from my uncle the Emperor and went to the royal enclosure, so I was delayed."
Daohua took the iced watermelon that Wang Maner brought over, picked up a piece with a bamboo skewer, and passed it to Xiao Yeyang's mouth. After he ate it, she skewered a piece for herself: "What are you doing in the enclosure?"
Xiao Yeyang said, "The people of Western Liao brought a batch of fine horses with them for this audience. In a few days, there will be a horse race in the royal enclosure outside the capital." He smiled and said, "When the time comes, I will accompany you to have a good race in the enclosure."
Daohua shook her head and said, "Forget it. It's so hot, I don't want to ride a horse."
Xiao Yeyang smiled and said, "There's a forest over there. It won't be too hot to ride a horse in the forest."
Daohua still had no interest, but she asked, "Can we go watch the horse racing?"
Xiao Yeyang: "Of course, officials and their families can visit."
Daohua: "I heard that the people of Western Liao are very good at horse riding. Can we win a race with them?"
Xiao Yeyang: "The people of Western Liao are indeed good at riding and shooting, but the men of our Great Xia are not much behind."
Daohua looked at him and asked, "Are you going to play?"
Xiao Yeyang smiled and said, "You don't want me to play?"
Daohua was silent for a moment. "If the Emperor doesn't agree to a marriage alliance, and the people of Western Liao can't marry a princess, then they might think of other ways, like marrying a princess to Daxia. That would also be a good alliance."
Xiao Yeyang laughed out loud: "Are you afraid that the Princess of Western Liao will take a fancy to me?" He smiled and shook his head, "The princess doesn't like me. She likes the princes."
Daohua suddenly perked up: "How did you know?"
Xiao Yeyang sneered, "These days, whenever she gets the chance, the Princess of Western Liao will have a chance encounter with a few princes. Anyone with a discerning eye can tell what she's up to."
Daohua tutted twice, then asked excitedly, "Will the emperor agree?"
Xiao Yeyang smiled faintly and said, "Marrying a princess is different from marrying a princess. Since they are offering it as a gift, how can we refuse? I just don't know which prince will get this good thing?"
Rice Flower: "Isn't this necessarily a good thing?"
Xiao Yeyang glanced at Daohua, grabbed her hand, ate the watermelon in her hand, smiled and said nothing.
"By the way, when we went out today, we also met the Princess of Western Liao and had some conflicts with her." Daohua told Xiao Yeyang what happened today.
After hearing this, Xiao Yeyang sneered: "The people of Western Liao want to steal the glass technology, they really dare to think so. Then the Princess of Western Liao will fight, so there is nothing to worry about."
After hearing what he said, Daohua stopped thinking about it.
On July 15th, Daxia and Western Liao held a horse race at the royal enclosure outside Beijing. Early in the morning, officials from Beijing and their families went to the enclosure one after another in horse-drawn carriages.
"Xinran!"
As Daohua and Madam Li and others entered the enclosure, they saw the Han family.
Han Xinran looked at her elder sister and mother standing intimately together, her eyes flickering a little. She lowered her eyes and supported her mother-in-law as they walked towards her family.
Mrs. Li greeted Mrs. Han with a smile.
Madam Han immediately smiled and introduced her eldest daughter to the Yan family: "Mother-in-law, this is my eldest daughter. She married the eldest son of the Yongqing Earl's Mansion. She is usually busy taking care of the household and has not had time to visit you. Xinman, why don't you meet your Aunt Yan?"
Han Xinman immediately greeted Madam Li with a smile, then looked at Daohua with a smile: "This must be the Princess of Shengping County, right? Hearing about her is worse than meeting her in person. She is indeed more beautiful than flowers."
Daohua did not respond, but looked at Han Xinran, as if waiting for her to introduce herself.
Han Xinran immediately smiled and said to Han Xinman, "Big sister, this is my eldest sister." Then, she pulled Yan Yihan and the other two, "This is my second sister, third sister, and fourth sister."
Daohua then greeted him: "Mrs. Fang."
Yan Yihuan and the other two followed suit and saluted: "Mrs. Fang."
When Han Xinman saw that the four Daohua sisters called her by their husband's family instead of the Han family, the smile on her face froze for a moment. As her mother had said, her second sister's husband's family was indeed lacking in social interaction.
Wouldn't it make the relationship seem closer if I called her "Sister Han"?
Han Xinman pulled Han Xinran and asked with a smile, "Second sister, where are you going to watch the game later?"
Han Xinran looked at Madam Li.
Mrs. Li looked at the stands that had been built. Seeing that there weren't many seats, she thought there might not be any for them, so she smiled and said, "We'll watch wherever everyone else is watching."
Hearing this, Han Xinman's smile deepened, and she immediately extended an invitation to Madam Li, saying, "Aunt, my husband's family has some respect in the eyes of the Emperor, and he specially gifted us a seat to watch the game. You can squeeze in with us later."
"Watching the game in the stands will help you avoid the sun, and secondly, you can sit higher up and see more clearly."
Before Madam Li could respond, Madam Han immediately took over the conversation: "Mother-in-law, please don't be polite. We are all relatives. Today, let's take advantage of Xinman's glory."
Looking at Madam Han, who looked so proud, Daohua quickly glanced at her sister-in-law and said quickly, "Thank you for your kindness, Madam Fang. But it's not necessary. Someone will arrange a place for us."
Madam Han's smile faltered. Just as she was about to say something, she saw Defu trotting over: "County Lady, the master asked me to take you over to sit down."
Daohua smiled and nodded to Mrs. Han and Han Xinman, supported Mrs. Li, and signaled Han Xinran to follow.
Han Xinran smiled and said to Madam Han and Han Xinman, "Mother, Big Sister, I'll go over first."
Seeing that the Yan family members were sitting very close to the main seats, Mrs. Han and Han Xinman both looked a little unhappy.
Han Xinman snorted, "Second sister, how could you be so kind? There was a seat at the Yan family, but you didn't tell me earlier. I worked so hard for nothing, and even had to go and ask my mother-in-law for help."
Madam Han quickly consoled her, "Your second sister has never been as thoughtful as you are. So, don't take it personally."
Han Xinman said "hmm" lightly, and just as she was about to help Madam Han to sit down, she saw Princess Lekang approaching Yan Yiyi: "Mother, how come the Yan family has a relationship with Princess Lekang?"
