Chapter 67 Gu Sheng also disappeared, just like Xia Yunzhou…

Gu Sheng also disappeared, just like Xia Yunzhou.

When Jiang Shi heard the report from his subordinates, he did not react.

In Jiang Shi's view, Gu Sheng did nothing more than two things: betray him or pledge his allegiance.

Regardless of which one, Jiang Shi would be happy to see it happen.

The betrayal goes without saying; just get rid of him. In Jiang Shi's eyes, Gu Sheng is not as important as the already dead Wen Yan.

As for the pledge of loyalty, no matter what Gu Sheng does, as long as Gu Sheng does it, he will be happy to accept it. However, he will not trust Gu Sheng because of this. To Jiang Shi, Gu Sheng is just another pawn that he can use.

However, before Gu Sheng reappeared, Jiang Shi first received a notification from headquarters.

An emergency meeting must be convened, and only senior officials are allowed to attend.

There are many people in the organization who can be called cadres, but only six people can be called senior cadres, three of whom are related to the BOSS by blood.

Jiang Shi was one of the other three cadres who had no direct relationship with the BOSS. He was able to stand in this position entirely because of his loyalty to the BOSS.

Jiang Shi may not have been the most capable, but he was definitely the most loyal.

If we were to ask who the boss trusts most in the organization, it would definitely be Jiang Shi.

Only senior executives in the organization can see the BOSS. To everyone else, the BOSS is mysterious, and even his gender is a mystery.

Since it was an emergency meeting that only senior officials could attend, the person convening the meeting could only be the BOSS.

Jiang Shi never ignored his boss's summons. The moment he received the notification, he was already heading to the airport to arrange a direct flight to the meeting location.

The meeting was held on an inconspicuous private island.

This island does not exist on the map; only those who know its coordinates can reach it.

Jiang Shi got off the plane and walked towards the conference room.

On the way, Jiang Shi heard a bell ringing not far away.

There is a clock tower on the island, but this was the first time Jiang Shi had heard the clock tower bell ring.

He couldn't help but glance at the defensive line of the clock tower, but saw nothing.

Continuing on, he encountered another high-ranking official, who was also one of his few friends, Lin Yu.

Lin Yu stopped Jiang Shi, who was in a hurry, and asked, "What's wrong? What happened? Why are you in such a rush?"

Jiang Shi slowed down and walked alongside Lin Yu.

"I received a notification that an emergency meeting was to be held. The last emergency meeting was because of the bank. I wonder what big thing has happened this time."

Lin Yu smiled and said, "Nothing serious, just good news."

Jiang Shi frowned. In all his years in the organization, the emergency meetings he had encountered were almost always due to internal problems. He had never heard of a meeting being held because of something good.

Lin Yu could tell what Jiang Shi was thinking just by looking at his expression.

He patted Jiang Shi on the shoulder: "Relax, the BOSS has been in a really good mood lately, and his temper has improved a lot too."

Jiang Shi stopped and looked at Lin Yu, his brows furrowing even deeper.

He looked at Lin Yu as if she were a madman.

Good-tempered? When did the word "bOSS" become associated with this?

Jiang Shi pictured the BOSS's face in his mind—an old man in a wheelchair, with a strange temper, a perpetually cold face, and a suffocating gaze that made people feel breathless; no one dared to meet his eyes.

It has absolutely nothing to do with the phrase "good temper" no matter how you look at it.

Jiang Shi carefully examined Lin Yu but found nothing unusual.

Are you sure you're talking about the BOSS?

Lin Yu paused for a moment, his pupils dilated for a split second, then returned to normal. He turned to look at Jiang Shi without saying a word.

Jiang Shiyu and Lin Yu looked at each other. He stared into Lin Yu's eyes and suddenly noticed that Lin Yu's eyeballs were moving irregularly within a very small range.

Jiang Shi said, "Your eyes..."

Lin Yu moved his neck slightly: "What's wrong with your eyes?" As he spoke, he moved closer to Jiang Shi, seemingly wanting Jiang Shi to see more clearly.

Jiang Shi took a step back, a strange feeling welling up inside him.

His familiar old friend looked perfectly normal, but he always felt like something was off.

Jiang Shi didn't look away, but repeated the question he had just asked: "Are you sure you mean the BOSS?"

"Your temper has improved a lot?"

Lin Yu raised an eyebrow: "You don't believe me?"

Jiang Shi said, "That's hard to believe."

Lin Yu didn't explain: "Believe it or not, you'll know I'm telling the truth when you meet the BOSS in a bit."

After speaking, Lin Yu looked away, walked past Jiang Shi, and entered through the gate.

After Lin Yu looked away, the inexplicable sense of oppression disappeared.

Jiang Shi blinked, his eye twitching involuntarily, and he couldn't stop it.

He pressed his hand to the corner of his eye, thinking that perhaps he had been too tired lately.

Jiang Shi followed Lin Yu and went inside.

After walking through the lobby, the two arrived at the entrance of the conference room.

Standing at the door, Jiang Shi could vaguely smell a foul stench.

Lin Yu seemed completely unaware and simply opened the conference room door.

After the door was opened, an even stronger stench wafted out.

Jiang Shi couldn't help but cover his mouth and nose. Just as he was about to ask Lin Yu what was going on, he saw Lin Yu calmly walk into the conference room as if she hadn't noticed anything.

Anxiety spread through Jiang Shi's heart.

Ever since arriving on the island, he had felt inexplicably uneasy.

Just as he followed Lin Yu into the room, the clock struck again.

Hearing the bell, Jiang Shi felt a little dizzy and unsteady on his feet, almost falling. He managed to stand up by holding onto the wall.

The bell stopped ringing quickly. Jiang Shi rubbed his temples and looked up. He then saw a familiar wheelchair parked not far away.

Beside the wheelchair lay a corpse already infested with maggots.

The stench was coming from the corpse.

Jiang Shi stood there, completely stunned.

He stared wide-eyed at the familiar face on the corpse.

Lin Yu had already sat down, and flies attracted by the corpse landed on his face, but he seemed oblivious.

Upon discovering that Jiang Shi was still standing at the door, he called out, "Don't stand at the door anymore."

The other four senior officials have also arrived.

Xia Yunzhou stood next to the head of the table, while the rest of the people sat facing each other.

Jiang Shi pointed at the corpse on the ground, trembling as he said, "What happened? The BOSS..."

Lin Yu said, "BOSS? He hasn't arrived yet, but he should be here soon."

Jiang Shi suddenly turned to look at Lin Yu. Looking at Lin Yu's calm gaze, he felt as if he could hardly breathe.

Jiang Shi said in a trembling voice, "Are you all crazy? The BOSS is right here! Who did this? Who did this? Who killed the BOSS?!"

The five people gathered around the conference table all looked at Jiang Shi, their expressions remarkably similar, excessively calm.

Jiang Shixin jumped suddenly upon seeing the five people who looked so strangely alike.

Lin Yu said, "What are you talking about? The BOSS hasn't arrived yet!"

Jiang Shi swallowed hard. He pointed at the corpse on the ground and said, "What's wrong with you? Can't you see the people on the ground? And the wheelchair? The BOSS is right here."

All five men looked in the direction Jiang Shi was pointing, their eyes fixed on the wheelchair and the corpse, yet they seemed to ignore them.

Xia Yunzhou raised an eyebrow and looked at Jiang Shi: "I think you've gone mad. There's nothing there. Are you so tired that you're hallucinating?"

Jiang Shi looked at the five people in disbelief. He rushed to the conference table and slammed his hand on it, making a loud noise.

Then he felt a strange sensation on his hand.

Jiang Shi picked up his hand and saw that he had just stepped on a maggot.

Maggots had already spread throughout the room from the corpse, and a feeling of nausea washed over me.

Jiang Shi looked at the five men, and the five men looked at him in return.

Jiang Shi saw maggots crawl onto the table and then fall onto the people, but they didn't react at all.

Flies crawled all over them, on their faces, and even in their ears, but they seemed completely unaware.

Lin Yu even frowned and said, "Jiang Shi, are you too tired? Why don't you go and rest for a while? Anyway, the BOSS hasn't arrived yet."

Jiang Shi opened his mouth, but seeing the unchanging expressions in the eyes of the five people, he said nothing.

He turned to look at the corpse on the ground, then at the maggots crawling everywhere, and the flies swarming all over the room.

For the first time, he began to doubt himself. Was this really just his hallucination? Otherwise, why didn't anyone else react at all?

Those five people, even if they weren't all germaphobes, would certainly not be able to accept sitting in such an environment.

Moreover, putting aside others, Xia Yunzhou is absolutely loyal to the BOSS, even if the BOSS doesn't completely trust him.

How could Xia Yunzhou let the BOSS's corpse lie there? And who killed the BOSS?

Who can kill the BOSS?

Security on the island is top-notch; no one else can get close except for the six of them.

None of these six people would be capable of killing the BOSS.

So this really was his hallucination?

Just then, a familiar voice came from the doorway: "Why hasn't the trash been disposed of yet?"

Jiang Shi turned his head, and then he felt as if he were really hallucinating.

Jiang Shi saw Gu Sheng.

What's Gu Sheng doing here?

What Jiang Shi didn't expect was that the five people stood up and respectfully said to Gu Sheng, "Boss, you've arrived."

Jiang Shi glanced at the five men, then at Gu Sheng.

His lips twitched slightly, forcing a twisted smile, and his pupils contracted and then dilated as he tried to comprehend what was happening before him.

Jiang Shi looked at the corpse on the ground, then at Gu Sheng, and felt that he must have really gone mad.

Jiang Shi said with unusual agitation, "How did you get here? BOSS, what happened to BOSS?" As he spoke, he pulled out his gun and was about to point it at Gu Sheng.

However, someone was faster than him; the cold muzzle of a gun was pressed against Jiang Shi's head before he could even raise his hand.

Jiang Shi stopped what he was doing and glanced at the outstretched hand out of the corner of his eye. When he saw who was holding the gun, his pupils trembled involuntarily.

"Lin Yu," his voice was hoarse, unable to believe his friend would point a gun at him, "what are you doing?"

Lin Yu frowned and looked at Jiang Shi: "I should be asking you that. What are you going to do to the BOSS?"

Jiang Shi vigorously rubbed his hair: "He's not the BOSS. The BOSS is right there, why can't you see him? How can you stand this smell? There are flies everywhere, don't you feel anything?!"

Lin Yu looked at Jiang Shi with a complicated expression: "What are you talking about? A BOSS is a BOSS. You're either crazy or pretending to be crazy. I hope you're really crazy, otherwise I can't accept that you would betray the BOSS."

Jiang Shi felt utterly speechless: "I didn't, I didn't betray the BOSS, he wasn't the BOSS at all." He looked at Xia Yunzhou, "It was you, wasn't it you who conspired with Gu Sheng to pull this stunt? It must have been you, you did it, you must have killed the BOSS."

Xia Yunzhou looked coldly at Jiang Shi: "Gu Sheng? He's already dead. I killed him. As for the BOSS," he looked at Gu Sheng, "you'd better be really crazy. The BOSS is right in front of you."

"You," Jiang Shi was about to say something when the bell rang again. Hearing the bell and thinking about what had just happened, Jiang Shi felt like his head was about to explode. "You've all gone mad, mad, all of you have gone mad."

Lin Yu whispered in Jiang Shi's ear, "Quickly apologize to the BOSS. He's in a good mood lately, so he'll definitely forgive you."

Jiang Shi covered his head and took a step back, and the others surrounded him.

With blank stares and dazed expressions, they surrounded Jiang Shi and said in unison, "The BOSS is right in front of you."

"Can't you see?"

Jiang Shi covered his head, panting heavily: "He's not the BOSS, the BOSS is dead."

Lin Yu whispered in Jiang Shi's ear, "How could the BOSS die? Do you even believe the BOSS could die?"

Jiang Shi's pupils slowly began to lose focus: "No, the BOSS won't die." He looked at the corpse on the ground, the sound of the bell in his ears growing louder and louder.

The group continued in unison, "The BOSS is right in front of you, can't you see him?"

“I can see him,” Jiang Shi’s gaze became unfocused. He looked at Gu Sheng, his mind filled with only “BOSS”. The person in front of him was BOSS. “I see BOSS.”

The seemingly endless chimes, which appeared to Jiang Shi, actually only rang twelve times.

When the bells stopped ringing, everything returned to calm.

The room seemed unchanged.

Six senior officials took their seats in turn.

They sat there upright, looking straight ahead.

Flies landed on their faces, but they didn't move.

A fly even crawled into Jiang Shi's slightly open mouth, but he still didn't react.

Gu Sheng stood at the door, covering his nose, looking at the room with a smug expression.

"I said, let's change rooms, can't you hear me?"

The six people suddenly realized what was happening.

Their expressions became more vivid.

Jiang Shi frowned, spat out the fly from his mouth, and showed a look of disgust.

Xia Yunzhou asked, "Which room would you like to move to?"

The six people got up and walked outside.

Gu Sheng looked at the unattended corpse on the ground and said, "Take care of the trash, and have this room cleaned up too."

The six looked down at the ground, as if they had only just noticed something there, but their expressions remained unchanged.

"I'll have someone handle it immediately."

Xia Yunzhou called his men to handle it. The people here have a lot of experience in dealing with this kind of garbage, and they will clean it up very well.

Gu Sheng said, "Let's go next door... no, forget it, I don't want to stay on this floor anymore, let's go upstairs."

The group changed rooms and sat down again.

Gu Sheng sat in the head seat, Xia Yunzhou stood beside him, and the others sat facing each other.

Gu Sheng glanced at everyone and said, "Alright, let's get down to business. The organization needs some restructuring."
