Lu Zhe stood in the crowded subway car, took a deep breath, and felt his lungs filled with restlessness.
Of course, as a working adult who had been out of school for two years, he was already used to mornings like this. But today was slightly different for him.
Today is my first day at the new company.
Therefore, he put on the most expensive shirt and trousers in his wardrobe and even styled his hair before leaving. Looking at the car window now, his reflection, while not exactly handsome, was at least presentable. His young face also carried a touch of mature composure.
Just as Lu Zhe was checking his condition, he suddenly felt something brush against his cheek, light and airy, with a faint, delicate fragrance.
He immediately realized that it was a girl's long hair, specifically the ends.
Lu Zhe subconsciously turned his head and met the gaze of the girl beside him. His first thought was—she was a beautiful woman, perhaps even a pretty young girl.
The girl looked very young and was wearing glasses. But the clear lenses couldn't hide her beauty at all, especially her beautiful, bright, sparkling eyes.
She was wearing a JK uniform, of medium height, about 1.6 meters tall, and rather thin.
Out of the corner of his eye, Lu Zhe noticed that the girl was wearing white mid-calf socks under her JK skirt... but he was too embarrassed to look closely and only glanced at them briefly.
The girl blinked, then suddenly realized what she had done, raised her hand to touch her long hair, and lowered her voice: "Did I brush against you?"
Lu Zhe nodded expressionlessly. He noticed that the girl's hairstyle was not simple; it was a princess-style braid that looked quite exquisite. The long, flowing hair beneath the braid also appeared to be very smooth.
But no matter how good-looking he is, what does it have to do with a corporate slave like him who has no interest in dating?
The girl stuck out her tongue and smiled a little shyly: "I'm sorry..."
Lu Zhe: "It's okay."
After saying that, he took out his phone.
Two more minutes passed, and the subway arrived at a new station.
Lu Zhe arrived at his stop. Just as he stepped out of the carriage, he subconsciously glanced at the girl next to him—the one in the JK skirt was also getting off at this stop.
However, he had no time to fantasize about strangers; after all, work was the most important thing.
Following the flow of office workers, Lu Zhe exited the subway and, relying on his memory of the interview he had last week, found the office building where his new company was located.
"This is it. From now on, I'll be a happy working person again..."
He muttered to himself as he stepped inside.
I squeezed into the elevator and went up to the tenth floor. After getting off the elevator, I arrived at the office of the company I was about to start working at.
As soon as he entered, the receptionist said to him, "You've arrived just in time. Mr. Li is inside and is about to process your onboarding."
Lu Zhe: "The person who interviewed me was General Manager Li, and he also helped me with the onboarding process, right?"
The receptionist smiled and said, "That means you're highly valued! That's wonderful!"
Lu Zhe smiled and followed the direction the receptionist pointed into a conference room.
Mr. Li, a slightly overweight man in his thirties or forties, was sitting inside. Seeing him enter, he waved for him to sit down, then handed him a contract and a pen, saying, "This is our employment contract. Sign it quickly."
Lu Zhe took the contract but did not write it down immediately. Instead, he glanced at it first.
He immediately realized a problem after just one glance.
Lu Zhe tentatively asked, "Mr. Li, what is our company's rest policy...?"
Mr. Li replied casually, "We have Sundays off every week, don't worry, that'll be enough!"
Lu Zhe's smile remained unchanged, but inwardly he was grumbling—didn't he say during the interview that he usually had regular weekends off? Could he really go back on his word?
Suddenly, the conference room door opened again.
A dozen or so people rushed in. Most of them were young men, dressed in almost identical suits, while the three women were also young, wearing the same color and style of office lady dresses, including the receptionist.
"Come and get to know each other, this is Lu Zhe, he'll be our comrade-in-arms from now on! Lu, it's time for morning exercises now, you can watch first, and we can come together next time."
Mr. Li's words, as well as this group of 'colleagues,' left Lu Zhe quite confused.
Do internet companies really need employees to wear such uniform suits? And what's with the terms 'comrades-in-arms' and 'morning exercises'?
What happened next stunned Lu Zhe completely, leaving him frozen in place. His already paused pen stopped moving altogether.
General Manager Li slammed his hand on the table and shouted, "Attitude determines success or failure!"
A dozen or so colleagues shouted in unison: "Unity creates the future!"
Mr. Li raised his voice and shouted: "Only the mindset of the off-season!"
A dozen or so people gathered together and shouted even louder: "There is no off-season in the market!"
Mr. Li: "You have to find the right method to succeed!"
A dozen or so people said, "Making excuses will only lead to failure!"
Mr. Li looked around, nodded in satisfaction, and clapped his hands: "One, two, three, four!"
A dozen or so men and women in suits and uniforms also performed the same movements, but with even more passion. With each clap, they would shout, creating a very rhythmic beat, with everyone perfectly in sync with the drumbeat.
"One, two, three, four!"
"Two, two, three, four!"
"Three, two, three, four!"
"One more time!"
Mr. Li and a dozen colleagues clapped and shouted loudly, while Lu Zhe, who was in the same conference room, was completely dumbfounded.
