Chapter 10 Sober Career Planning

When Lu Zhe woke up, it was already a bright and sunny morning.

Opening his eyes in the unfamiliar environment, it took him two seconds to realize where he was.

He got up, washed up, and put on his new clothes. Then, he didn't know what to do next.

After hesitating for a while, he walked to the young lady's bedroom door and gently knocked. There was silence all around, and no response came from behind the door.

A girl's bedroom is not to be entered casually, especially by someone who is a sugar daddy. Lu Zhe originally intended to turn around and leave, but at this moment, he subconsciously pushed, and the door actually opened a little bit.

Tang Qi's bedroom door was not closed, but only slightly ajar.

Lu Zhe was slightly surprised, not expecting this young lady to be so unguarded. But then he thought, this was someone else's house, and as her paid assistant, he naturally wouldn't dare to break the rules. Perhaps Tang Qi understood this, which was why she was so at ease?

Before closing the door, he subconsciously glanced inside.

Tang Qi was wearing a cute pink pajama top with shorts and a short-sleeved shirt, but she was lying in a starfish position, sleeping in a very lazy and unrestrained manner. There was also a black rectangular object stuck to her face.

That's a cell phone.

Judging from the signs at the scene, the young lady fell asleep while scrolling through her phone last night.

Lu Zhe then realized that she must have gone to bed later than him. Since that was the case, he shouldn't disturb her from catching up on her sleep.

He gently closed the door, went into the study, turned on the alien computer on the desk, and started working on his employment contract.

Templates can certainly be found online, and besides, he had signed employment contracts when he joined previous jobs. However, he hadn't formally studied law, so he wasn't sure whether a contract he created would be legally binding.

"Forget it, I'll just ignore it for now. As long as she gives me the money, I'll run away if she doesn't."

After finalizing the contract, he realized he couldn't print it. There was no printer in the apartment, and if he left alone, he probably wouldn't be able to get back in. He wasn't even sure when Ms. Tang would wake up, so she was unlikely to be able to open the door for him.

So he went to the kitchen to find something to eat to satisfy his empty stomach, and then returned to the computer to search for information.

In addition to a bachelor's degree, the job requirements for an AI test engineer include software testing experience, basic database knowledge, and familiarity with Python or Java. He hadn't explored these things much before, but this last-minute cramming would hopefully be helpful for tomorrow's interview.

That's right. After thinking about it while taking a shower last night, he decided to go for the interview anyway.

While Miss Tang was certainly generous, Lu Zhe wasn't used to relying on other people's kindness for his livelihood. He figured that Tang Qi probably only hired him as her assistant because she had only recently arrived in Chengdu, hadn't started school yet, didn't know any friends, and was feeling lonely. Who knew, maybe one day she'd be having fun with other rich heiresses and wouldn't need him anymore.

On the other hand, he didn't have high expectations for this rather tempting AI test engineer position. His childhood loneliness had instilled in him a habit that as long as he didn't have too many unrealistic expectations, life would become much more comfortable, and his mentality wouldn't easily break down.

He sat down at the computer and began to study diligently.

When Tang Qi woke up, she felt a brick pressing against her face. She was stunned for a moment before realizing that the thing pressed against her face was her cell phone.

I stayed up quite late studying the textbook last night, and I can't even remember which episode I was on...

She put her phone away, sat up, and suddenly felt uneasy.

Is that guy still there?

Tang Qi jumped out of bed, hurriedly changed her clothes, and brushed her teeth and washed her face as quickly as possible. Then, without having time for more careful grooming, she went straight to Lu Zhe's bedroom.

There was no one in his bedroom.

When I went outside to look again, the living room was empty, and no one was in the kitchen either... Where was he? Could he have quietly slipped away?

Just as Tang Qi was becoming increasingly uneasy, suddenly, the sound of typing came from the study. The keyboard had blue switches, and each keystroke produced a crisp sound.

The girl hurriedly ran to the study door, pushed open the half-closed door, and immediately breathed a sigh of relief.

Lu Zhe was staring intently at the computer screen, looking at something.

Tang Qi quickly composed herself and asked in a clear, melodious voice, "What are you doing?"

Lu Zhe looked up at her, while skillfully switching screens.

The computer screen was angled towards the door, meaning Tang Qi couldn't see what was on the screen from where she was standing. Lu Zhe instinctively felt that letting Tang Qi discover he was looking for something better while he was at it seemed a bit inappropriate.

However, upon further reflection, he realized that if he were to find another formal job, he couldn't completely hide it from Miss Tang, otherwise he simply wouldn't have enough time during the week.

So Lu Zhe pondered for a moment and said, "I'm considering whether I should get a regular 9-to-5 job..."

Tang Qi frowned, somewhat puzzled, and asked, "Why? Isn't the salary I give you enough?"

Lu Zhe: "It's not about the salary, it's mainly about career planning. I can't be a personal assistant forever. Besides, I just got a pretty good interview invitation, and I think it's worth checking it out."

Tang Qi fell silent.

She really wanted to tell the guy in front of her things like "You don't need to plan your career" or "I'll take care of you," but saying those things now was way too early.

Seeing that she had been silent for a while, Lu Zhe spoke first: "I can move to live nearby. Apart from work, I can be your personal assistant all the time. What do you think, Miss?"

Tang Qi was a little confused: "Why do you want to move nearby? Wouldn't it be better if you just moved in directly?"

Lu Zhe scratched his head: "I feel really embarrassed, staying in such a big bedroom..."

"It's no big deal. If you don't live here, the room will be empty anyway. Here's what you can do: you can find another job. The conditions are simple: you can't work overtime, and you have to live here. Otherwise, you simply won't have time to be my personal assistant," Tang Qi said bluntly.

Lu Zhe couldn't help but beam with joy: "So, as long as these two conditions are met, I can find a second job?"

"Of course, but..." Tang Qi pouted, "Are you really that diligent? Are you looking for another job?"

Lu Zhe: "When people are forced to work hard, they'll become more diligent. By the way, I've already prepared the employment contract. Would you like to take a look?"

"So fast?" Tang Qi came to his side and looked at the computer screen.

On the screen was the contract that had been copied, pasted, and modified not long ago.

Tang Qi glanced at it, then patted his shoulder and said, "Okay, okay, just like that... Hey, wait a minute, what about working hours?"

Lu Zhe: "We will arrange the schedule flexibly according to the needs of the client, 40 hours per week."

Tang Qi pondered for a few seconds and nodded. At the same time, the girl thought to herself—the client's needs are endless.
