Chapter 20 The Appearance of Romantic Luck

The Copa America final has ended.

Lu Zhe took off his headphones and exclaimed, "Argentina won! That's great, Messi has finally won the national team title... Messi's fans must be very happy, right?"

As soon as he finished speaking, he subconsciously looked at Xue Xiaodie beside him and found that her expression seemed to confirm it.

The girl gently patted her chest with one hand and rested her forehead on the other, smiling with relief.

Lu Zhe asked with a smile, "How is it? Aren't you happy? But Messi didn't score in the final, so it must be a bit of a shame..."

Xue Xiaodie immediately said, "It's okay, I have no regrets at all."

Whether Messi scores or not is not important at all; what matters is his savings. Now he can trade his bicycle for a motorcycle.

Considering the European Championship final that evening, Xue Xiaodie suddenly felt a pang of regret—why didn't she watch more penalty shootouts before her rebirth? If she could remember the results of the next few seasons, wouldn't she have easily reached the pinnacle of life?

Her thoughts drifted there, and the girl blurted out unconsciously, "If you ever become financially independent, what would you do?"

Lu Zhe: "I don't know, that's not realistic for me. In first- or second-tier cities, you need at least tens of millions to be financially independent, right?"

Xue Xiaodie smiled mischievously: "Dreaming isn't illegal."

Lu Zhe, however, said rather obliviously, "Indeed, everyone daydreams, but it's meaningless."

Xue Xiaodie looked at this idiot and suddenly felt a tickle in her teeth.

Perhaps her recent successful bet on the football match had made her a little reckless, and she was starting to lose her temper. The girl took a deep breath and suddenly acted.

Xue Xiaodie squeezed his hand, smiled and whispered, "You know what? Sometimes, dreams can suddenly become reality."

Lu Zhe looked completely bewildered: "Huh?"

Xue Xiaodie stared into his eyes and asked directly, "Haven't you ever imagined what romantic luck looks like?"

Lu Zhe: "This is...!"

Before he could react in his usual straightforward way, Xue Xiaodie continued, "You have two new jobs now, and the salaries are pretty good. You're already financially secure, so why not think about finding love?"

Lu Zhe's expression was no longer so blank; he just frowned, his eyes filled with deep suspicion.

He whispered, "You wouldn't be thinking—"

Before I could finish speaking, my phone rang. It rang so abruptly, yet at just the right time.

Xue Xiaodie sighed: "You answer the phone first."

Lu Zhe took out his phone and saw that the caller ID showed it was Miss Tang.

After the call connected, I heard Tang Qi say, "Hey, where are you? I'm already up, and I've looked all over but can't find you..."

Perhaps because she had just woken up, the young lady's voice was very languid, as if she was yawning while speaking.

The sound leaking from the phone's receiver made Xue Xiaodie's face freeze instantly.

Lu Zhe thought for two seconds and then made up an excuse: "I'll have breakfast outside."

Tang Qi: "Breakfast... Could you bring me some back, please?"

Lu Zhe: "What do you want to eat?"

Tang Qi: "Where did you eat? Were there any options?"

Lu Zhe: "The KFC near the software park has panini, wraps, coffee, soy milk and fried dough sticks, and other options..."

Tang Qi hesitated for two seconds and said, "Beef panini, iced coffee, thank you!"

The other party hung up the phone.

Lu Zhe held his phone and looked at the girl beside him.

Xue Xiaodie sighed: "You're going to start working now, right? Okay, I'll go back and work on my drafts..."

Lu Zhe returned to the apartment with the paper bag and began feeding the animals.

He sat on the sofa, looking at the dining table a few meters away—Tang Qi was sitting at the table, eating happily.

Lu Zhe discovered a pattern.

Whenever she's indoors, especially when it's just the two of them, Miss Tang will tie her hair into pigtails. Paired with her slightly trendy short skirt and high socks, she looks like a girl straight out of a comic book.

Of course, it must be admitted that this kind of look really suits this legal loli...

However, at this moment, Lu Zhe was thinking about another girl.

Xue Xiaodie.

Before saying goodbye, a few words that the girl suddenly uttered made Lu Zhe ponder a question, a question that he originally thought was very unrealistic.

That is, is it possible that she actually likes him?

As a young man who was both physiologically and psychologically normal, Lu Zhe had certainly fantasized about romantic relationships before, but by the time he entered university, he had essentially extinguished such fantasies. That brief and painful relationship made him lose hope in real-life romances.

After that, he realized that dating is a grand adventure in the 21st-century city. You don't know what will happen next, or what you will gain, but the investment of time, energy, and money is very real.

The costs are high and the returns are uncertain. Whoever is willing to do it can do it; Lu Zhe certainly isn't.

But now... what if Xue Xiaodie really likes me?

After spending the morning thinking about this question, Lu Zhe began to ponder it.

Just then, Tang Qi finished her breakfast.

The young lady ran to the sofa and sat down next to him. There was almost no distance between them, just like when Lu Zhe and Xue Xiaodie sat side by side not long ago.

But the reason she sat so close to Xue Xiaodie before was because they were using the same phone and headphones to watch the game. Now, what is Miss Tang planning to do?

Lu Zhe looked at her, puzzled.

Tang Qi said with a smile, "Thank you for breakfast!"

Lu Zhe: "It's nothing, it's what I should do."

Tang Qi pouted, seemingly a little dissatisfied with his reaction. Then she said, "I woke up earlier today than usual, and I looked for you as soon as I woke up... I wanted to ask you if you wanted to go out for a walk? Are you used to being cooped up at home all the time..."

The further she spoke, the softer her voice became. By the last few words, it was as if she were whispering. Fortunately, Lu Zhe was close enough to hear her clearly.

Then Lu Zhe fell into a new round of confusion—Miss, you are the employer. You should decide what to do. Why are you asking for my opinion?

Meeting Lu Zhe's questioning gaze, Tang Qi suddenly blushed, shouted "Never mind, never mind," jumped up from the sofa, turned around, and ran back to her bedroom.

The door closed, and silence returned.

As Lu Zhe recalled Tang Qi's expression earlier, as well as all the words and actions of this young lady since he met her, a certain inexplicable guess gradually surfaced in his mind.

"No way... Something's wrong with this world!"

Lu Zhe pondered for a while, then suddenly had an idea and took out his phone.

He dialed a number he hadn't used in a long time.
