Chapter 87 A Special Day

At 11 o'clock, Tang Qi's nap ended, and she was finally woken up to study.

At noon, Lu Zhe prepared the meal, and Tang Qi and Xue Xiaodie enjoyed a lunch of two meat dishes and one vegetable dish together.

At 1 p.m., Tang Qi continued her studies.

Then at 1:30 pm, Miss Tang said she was too sleepy to study.

Sitting across the table, Lu Zhe couldn't help but wonder, "We went to bed around the same time last night, so why are you still so sleepy? Including your nap, you must have slept for almost nine hours, right?"

Tang Qi immediately perked up and retorted, "I didn't sleep well during my second nap, so it doesn't count! Besides, I..."

Lu Zhe: "What's wrong with you today?"

Tang Qi tapped her notebook with her pen, then suddenly sighed, "Never mind, it's nothing. Studying is good too, it's quite fulfilling."

Seeing that the young lady seemed to have something to say but didn't say it, Lu Zhe was slightly puzzled. But just then, the intercom on the front door sounded.

Tang Qi put down her pen and walked over. After a dozen seconds, she said to the access control, "Okay, then you can put it there."

Lu Zhe walked over and casually asked, "Who is it?"

Tang Qi turned around abruptly.

Lu Zhe was startled, not only because she turned around too quickly, but also because of her eyes—the young lady's eyes were shining, as if she had finally defeated the game BOSS at the most difficult moment, with an uncontrollable joy and excitement.

Tang Qi took two deep breaths and said, "I need to make a phone call first."

Lu Zhe: "?"

Then Tang Qi ran to the living room, picked up her phone, and then walked back this way while holding the phone to her ear.

Clearly, the call was connected, and Tang Qi said into the phone, "Mom, you sent the cake, didn't you?"

Lu Zhe immediately understood that the young lady was calling her mother, and the reason she was calling was probably because the takeout that had just been delivered downstairs was a cake.

Tang Qi: "You still remember my birthday?"

Lu Zhe leaned closer and heard a voice coming from the phone receiver—a slightly charming, mature woman's voice: "I'm your mother, how could I forget? Where's your father? Did that old banana send you a gift?"

Tang Qi: "He didn't, he's probably just too busy to remember..."

Lu Zhe paused for a moment before realizing why his aunt called Mr. Tang "Old Banana." As everyone knows, bananas are almost never straight.

Hearing this, he felt that it was a bit rude of him to listen to the mother and daughter's conversation, but just as he was about to move away, Tang Qi took the initiative to come closer so that he could hear more clearly.

Okay, since the parties involved have no objections, he will listen to them openly.

"...I wanted to call you earlier, but I thought you weren't up yet this morning. I thought I'd call you a little later, but I got so busy with work that I forgot."

Tang Qi smiled and said, "It's okay, I've received the cakes!"

"Really? Does it look good? Does it taste good?"

Tang Qi: "It was just delivered downstairs, and I was just about to go down and get it."

"Okay... Mom's a bit busy here. You eat your cake first and play by yourself. We'll talk again when Mom gets off work tonight, okay?"

"Okay..." Tang Qi said, and hung up the phone.

She put down her phone, looked up, and stared at Lu Zhe in front of her.

Lu Zhe: "Is it your birthday today?"

Tang Qi nodded.

Lu Zhe: "Then why didn't you tell us? If you hadn't told us, we wouldn't have known."

Tang Qi touched the ponytail on the right side of her head and said softly, "Because, because... I didn't know how to tell you. Should I just say 'It's my birthday today'? It feels like I'm asking you for a gift."

Lu Zhe laughed and said, "So what? This is a once-a-year opportunity, what's wrong with asking for a small gift?"

At this moment, Xue Xiaodie walked over and asked, "What are you talking about?"

Lu Zhe: "It's Miss's birthday today."

Xue Xiaodie was taken aback: "No way, just today?"

Lu Zhe nodded: "Today. It's a pity I found out too late, and now I can't think of anything to give..."

Tang Qi quickly said, "There's no need to bring anything. Just bring the cake up, and then let me take a nap!"

Lu Zhe: "Doesn't the birthday person have any other wishes besides sleeping?"

Tang Qi's eyes darted around, and she said softly, "Then go downstairs and get me the cake. I want to go to bed now..."

Lu Zhe was both amused and exasperated: "Fine, if you want to sleep, then go to sleep."

Ten minutes later, when Lu Zhe returned with the cake, he saw Xue Xiaodie sitting at the dining table drawing.

The girl wearing glasses held a digital pen, staring intently at the screen. She didn't write quickly, allowing a little time to think between each stroke, but once she started writing, her strokes were steady.

The dining table was large enough to hold quite a lot of things. Lu Zhe placed the cake on the other side of the table, naturally so as not to disturb the girl who was drawing. He walked behind the girl and silently admired her work.

A closer look reveals that Xue Xiaodie was wearing headphones while painting. In-ear headphones can block out external noise, but for many people, the music playing in headphones might also be a nuisance…

Lu Zhe suddenly became curious about what kind of music she listened to.

After standing behind her for a few minutes, Lu Zhe finally couldn't resist any longer. He stepped to the girl's side, bent down slightly, reached out, took off one of her earphones, and put it on himself.
