Chapter 94 Memories That Were Not Romantic at All

After dinner, Xia Xiaobing paid the bill and left. Lu Zhe and the two girls returned to their apartment and began working and studying.

To be precise, Xue Xiaodie was drawing the drafts, while Lu Zhe was looking at the newly purchased teaching materials.

As for Tang Qi, seeing the two of them like this, she wasn't about to be outdone and sat down with her tablet. Whether she actually learned anything from it, only she knew.

Xue Xiaodie listens to music while painting, and Tang Qi listens to audio while watching videos, so they both wear headphones.

Lu Zhe was the only one not wearing headphones. So, in the quiet room, the soft, even breathing of the two girls could be clearly heard.

During study, it's easy for one's mind to wander, and Lu Zhe was no exception. He subconsciously looked up and stretched, catching sight of Xue Xiaodie and Tang Qi's faces. That troubling question resurfaced in his mind.

Should I start a relationship with an uncertain future?

If I were to start, with whom?

Xue Xiaodie, Tang Qi, or Xia Xiaobing?

This problem gave him a bit of a headache. In contrast, the algorithm problems in the book were much clearer and more straightforward.

Lu Zhe sighed softly and lowered his head to read again.

Less than ten minutes later, Xue Xiaodie stopped painting, looked up and glanced at Lu Zhe.

Under the table, the girl's leg quietly kicked him.

Lu Zhe looked at her with a puzzled expression.

Xue Xiaodie blinked, took off one earphone, and handed it over.

Lu Zhe then understood what she meant—to share music with him.

He took the headphones and heard soft guitar accompaniment and a faint female voice:

I refuse a better, rounder moon.

Reject the madness of the unknown.

Rejecting ostentatious displays of wealth and power.

I won't refuse you...

Lu Zhe whispered, "I've heard this song before."

Almost simultaneously, Xue Xiaodie also said, "I guess you've heard of it too."

The unexpected understanding between them startled them both, and then they laughed in unison.

Smiling quietly, Xue Xiaodie kicked him again.

The girl's toe struck his shinbone squarely, but the force was light. Compared to the kind of powerful kicks on the court that could leave someone writhing on the ground in agony, hers was far too gentle. However, for Lu Zhe, coupled with that delicate yet slightly ambiguous smile, its psychological impact was far greater.

While shaking his head and smiling, Lu Zhe couldn't help but feel his heart racing.

The song in my headphones kept playing until the very last few lines:

"I want a better, rounder moon."

Craving the unknown madness,

Desiring to flaunt one's sensual pleasures

I want you…

As the song played in her headphones, the girl's cherry lips moved, but she didn't sing a sound.

Lu Zhe saw the change in her lip movements, listened to "I want you" in his headphones, and then looked up slightly, meeting those watery peach blossom eyes.

The look Xue Xiaodie gave him at that moment made Lu Zhe think of only four words.

Gazes tenderly.

His heart rate increased.

But just then, Tang Qi's voice suddenly rang out: "I don't understand!"

Lu Zhe and Xue Xiaodie were both startled and turned to look at the young lady.

Tang Qi paused the video on her tablet, pointed at the paused screen, and said, "What exactly is this L'Hôpital's Law?"

Lu Zhe breathed a sigh of relief and asked with a smile, "Have you already started studying calculus?"

Tang Qi: "Anyway, I'll be learning this at school in two months."

"Let me think about it, how can I explain this to you..."

Lu Zhe changed seats and sat next to the young lady. But under the table, where no one could see, a pair of mischievous little feet were teasing his calves.

This kind of behavior can certainly be interpreted as playful banter between friends. But doing it secretly under the table, and deliberately keeping it from another girl, doesn't seem like something a simple friendship would do...

Lu Zhe suddenly remembered that this girl, who looked aloof but was actually playful, seemed to be wearing white stockings today.

————

Tang Qi is very unhappy tonight.

Of course, she didn't learn anything. The key point was that while she was studying, she witnessed that scene—Xue Xiaodie and Lu Zhe were sharing a pair of headphones and chatting and laughing.

Of course, she had absolutely no idea what lay beneath the desktop.

But then I think back to our trip to the panda base today. Throughout the trip, Xia Zong seemed to be the central figure, and in the afternoon she even disappeared with Lu Zhe for an hour or two. What happened during that time? Who knows?

Tang Qi couldn't help but feel powerless.

She could only use studying as an excuse to interrupt Xue Xiaodie's seemingly normal but extremely uncomfortable interactions with him, but she had absolutely no idea how to get closer to him.

At 11 p.m., it suddenly started raining outside.

Xue Xiaodie put down her digital pen, stretched, and laughed, "I'm so tired, I'm going to sleep. What about you guys?"

Lu Zhe also put down his textbook: "I'm tired too. But, Miss, shouldn't you play some more games?"

After he finished speaking, he glanced at Tang Qi.

However, Miss Tang muttered, "Don't call me Miss..."

Lu Zhe smiled and said, "I understand, Little Candy."

Tang Qi's lips twitched slightly, and she managed a weak smile.

The joy she felt when she first heard that nickname from him had almost completely vanished. Tang Qi put down her pen, closed her notebook, and tucked the pen inside.

Then she said, "I'm going to sleep now, I'm not playing games tonight."
