Chapter 9 The Guide 09

Yu Xing stared at Wen Qing's face, only to see his eyelashes tremble slightly. His expression was stunned for a second before returning to normal.

No surprise, no fear.

Wen Qing pursed her lips tightly and said to Yu Xing seriously: "Don't do this again."

"H-Have you ever heard the story of the boy who cried wolf?"

Yu Xing curved his lips and pretended not to understand: "Huh? What's wrong with me?"

Wen Qing frowned: "You are obviously not the guide, why do you keep muddying the waters?"

"If you tell too many lies, people will stop believing you."

He paused, then added: "If you have more votes, you have to open the door."

Anyone who opens the door without being a guide will surely die.

Wen Qing wanted to reason with Yu Xing and ask him to stop muddying the waters, but he didn't expect that after hearing what he said, the corners of Yu Xing's mouth raised even higher, and his eyes curved with laughter.

Yu Xing asked with a smile: "Don't I look like a guide?"

"Or... you don't want me to be the guide?"

“…”

Wen Qing realized that it was impossible to reason with Yu Xing.

After a moment of silence, he asked, "What about you?"

"Do you think I'm a guide?"

Yu Xing shook his head: "No."

Wen Qing raised her eyes and looked into his bottomless eyes: "Then why do you keep pestering me?"

Yu Xing shook his head again: "No."

Wen Qing: ???

Isn't this considered entanglement?!

You've been pestering me!

The shock on his face was too obvious. Yu Xing chuckled and said nonchalantly, "I'm not pestering you."

"I'm seducing you."

Wen Qing: “…”

There were several footsteps in the corridor, someone was coming.

Wen Qing tilted his head and saw Zhou Zhou, Gong Yunyun and Li Siwen all arrived.

The three of them looked at Wen Qing and Yu Xing in the study at the same time.

The two of them stood very close to each other. Yu Xing leaned against the bookshelf as if he had no bones, his pure black bathrobe hanging loosely. Wen Qing stood beside Yu Xing, their toes touching. His clothes were pure white. At first glance, the two of them looked quite harmonious.

Some people find it harmonious, some people find it dazzling.

Zhou Zhou had a cold face and strode towards Wen Qing, pulled him behind him, and stared at Yu Xing solemnly.

Seeing this, Yu Xing stared back with a half-smile.

The two of them looked at each other without saying anything.

Wen Qing blinked and took the opportunity to reach out and take the "Western Myths and Legends" from Yu Xing's hand.

As soon as his hand touched the book, Yu Xing turned his head to look over.

But this time Yu Xing did not stop Wen Qing. He let go of his hand and let Wen Qing take the book.

Wen Qing said subconsciously: "Thank you, thank you."

He regretted it after he finished saying it. It was clearly Yu Xing who snatched his book away, so why did he say thank you after getting it back!

Yu Xing sneered, bent down to pick up the discarded book "Greek Mythology" on the ground, brushed off the dust on it, handed it to Wen Qing, and left the study humming a little tune.

Wen Qing held two heavy books, looked at Yu Xing's back, and again cursed him in his heart as a primary school kid.

A weird elementary school kid.

After Yu Xing left, Zhou Zhou asked in a deep voice, "What happened just now?"

Wen Qing whispered, "I was looking for a book to read, and he snatched it from me, and then I wanted to snatch it back..."

He raised his eyes to look at Zhou Zhou, only to see Zhou Zhou staring straight at his chest, his eyes dark, as if he wasn't listening to what he was saying.

Wen Qing suddenly felt a little scared of Zhou Zhou's condition, and asked cautiously, "What, what happened?"

After a while, Zhou Zhou came back to his senses and said in a hoarse voice: "Nothing, your clothes are a little dirty."

He pointed at Wen Qing's right shoulder. His pure white clothes were stained with several stains from the medicinal wine.

Wen nodded lightly: "I'll go back to my room and change into something else."

After saying that, he quickly left the study room with the book in his arms.

Wen Qing heaved a sigh of relief only after returning to the bedroom and closing the door.

He sat down on the carpet and thought that everyone must be under too much pressure, so their emotions were not right.

After a while, Wen Qing changed his clothes and started reading.

After opening the table of contents of "Western Myths and Legends", Wen Qing was surprised.

This book is not about myths and legends, but the history of the development of myths and legends. Strictly speaking, the content is how Western political changes affect the development of myths and legends.

After reading two pages, Wen Qing put the book aside and started reading another one.

The book that Yu Xing gave him actually told a mythological story.

Wen Qing quickly found the story related to the three-headed dog.

The three-headed dog in ancient Greek mythology is called Cerberus. Just as Gong Yunyun said, it is responsible for guarding the gate to the underworld. Legend has it that a hero played the instrument he was good at in order to take his dead wife away from the underworld. The beautiful song made Cerberus fall asleep, and thus left the underworld.

Wen Qing stared at the words "instrument" and "song" and began to replay the nursery rhyme "Find a Friend" in his mind.

[Looking for friends,

Find a good friend,

Salute and shake hands,

You are my good friend. 】

Could this song be the clue?

Will this song have any meaning?

Wen Qing thought about it for a long time but still had no clue.

He stood up and wanted to go to the study to tell everyone about this, but there was no one in the study.

Wen Qing trotted downstairs. Ji Yu was the only one in the living room. In front of him were three dishes and a soup, which were steaming and had an enticing aroma.

“Gurgle——”

My stomach is growling.

The gurgling sound was very soft, but it was amplified several times in the quiet living room, making it deafening.

Wen Qing blushed in embarrassment.

Ji Yu smiled and said gently, "Sit down and eat."

There weren't many dishes, so Wen Qing was too embarrassed to eat them. He was about to refuse, but Ji Yu seemed to know what he was going to say and said, "Cooking can help me regulate my emotions and sort out my logic."

"If you don't eat these dishes," Ji Yu paused and said regretfully, "you can only throw them away."

Wen Qing quickly said, "I ate it."

“It’s such a waste to throw it away.”

Ji Yu smiled, went to the kitchen and served him a bowl of rice, then sat opposite Wen Qing and watched him eat with a smile.

Wen Qing ate very quickly, taking big mouthfuls of food with his cheeks slightly bulging.

Ji Yu asked softly, "Is it delicious?"

Wen nodded lightly, and he finished three dishes and a soup by himself in less than five minutes.

Ji Yu couldn't help but laugh and asked, "How long have you been hungry?"

Wen Qing's cheeks turned slightly red, and she whispered, "I, I eat very quickly."

When he was in high school, his studies were intense and Wen Qing couldn't keep up with the teacher's progress. He had to squeeze in time like crazy and finish his three meals a day as quickly as possible. After three years, he developed the habit of finishing his meals quickly.

Ji Yu half-closed his eyes and said calmly: "When I was in high school, I ate very quickly in order to save time."

Wen Qing said blankly: "Me, me too."

Ji Yu smiled and said, "What a coincidence."

Wen nodded lightly, and after a few simple words of conversation, the distance between him and Teacher Ji suddenly became closer.

"This habit is not good for your health."

Ji Yu slowly stood up and said to him, "I like cooking, but I don't like washing dishes."

"Can you please wash the dishes?"

After eating someone else's meal, Wen Qing certainly wouldn't refuse to do something as trivial as washing the dishes.

He put the empty plate in the sink and just as he turned on the faucet, he suddenly saw a hint of pink in front of him.

Ji Yu was holding a pink apron in his hand and pretended to put it on him.

Wen Qing quickly said, "It's okay, it will be washed soon."

Ji Yu said softly: "It would be bad if the clothes I just changed got dirty."

Wen Qing was stunned. He had changed his T-shirt, but the one he was wearing was the same style as before, with no difference.

While he was distracted, Ji Yu put on the apron for him.

"Okay." Ji Yu said.

The kitchen was unusually quiet, with only the sound of gurgling water.

Wen Qing lowered his head to wash the dishes and looked at the pink floral apron on himself, feeling a little strange because he had never seen this apron in the kitchen before.

"Teacher Ji, where did you find this apron?"

Ji Yu: "It's hanging next to the refrigerator."

Wen Qing paused abruptly. He had been here in the morning and remembered it clearly. There was no apron or any clothes near the refrigerator.

Suddenly, he remembered the underwear that had disappeared from the closet.

Why did the underwear in the bedroom disappear mysteriously, and why did the apron in the kitchen suddenly appear?

Wen Qing swallowed nervously and felt that the apron on her body was a little chilly.

Ji Yu had been looking at him, and when he saw Wen Qing's face suddenly turn pale, he asked in a low voice, "What's wrong?"

Wen Qing stuttered and asked, "Teacher, do you think there are ghosts here?"

Ji Yu's lips curled up slightly: "I don't know either."

Wen Qing felt an inexplicable chill down his spine, and his hands trembled with fear, causing him to lose his grip on the plate.

The plate crashed onto the marble countertop, shattering shards of porcelain everywhere.

Ji Yu sighed and said, "You are so timid, what can I do in the future?"

Wen Qing's mind was full of ghosts at the moment. After hearing Ji Yu's words, he blurted out: "What do you mean later? Will ghosts appear in the future?"

Ji Yu shook his head: "Last night I gave up and a three-headed dog appeared."

"If I make a wrong throw tonight... I don't know what the hell will happen."

Wen Qing shuddered, and the ghosts in the horror movies he had seen appeared before his eyes one after another.

He quickly shook his head, reminding himself not to think too much.

A wrong vote might provide mediocre clues...

Wen Qing wrapped his hands with a towel and concentrated on cleaning up the broken porcelain pieces on the table.

Ji Yu stepped forward: "Let me do it."

"No, it's fine."

Wen Qing shook his head and took a step to the side. His left elbow hit the countertop and a piece of broken porcelain pierced his skin.

His eyes turned red and tears flowed out.

"Don't move." Ji Yu held his wrist and looked down at the wound.

The porcelain shard didn't pierce deep, but the wound was three or four centimeters long. The blood quickly dyed the white porcelain shard red and dripped slowly along the edge of the shard.

"The wound is a bit long." Ji Yu curled his lips and raised his tone.

Wen Qing tilted her head with tears in her eyes.

Why does the teacher sound like he's in a good mood?

Is it his illusion?

Wen Qing blinked away the tears in her eyes and her vision became clear again.

Ji Yu took the tweezers and carefully picked out the broken porcelain pieces.

Wen Qing had just exhaled when the wound on his elbow was slightly torn open by Ji Yu, revealing a bit of bright red flesh. The pain made him turn pale.

Ji Yu explained: "Be patient, there is still a small piece inside."

The fragments were so small that it seemed inevitable that the tip of the tweezers would touch the wound flesh.

Just a few seconds seemed very long to Wen Qing, and the hair on his forehead was soaked with cold sweat.

The black hair stuck to the pale little face, and the lips were tightly pursed, without a trace of blood.

Poor and cute.

Ji Yu admired it for a while before picking out the small pieces and applying medicine and bandaging it.

"Okay, go and rest."

Wen Qing resisted the urge to cry out loud, responded with a choked voice, and walked out of the kitchen with weak legs.

Ji Yu stood where he was, slowly raised his hand, looked at the bright red blood beads on the back of his hand, lowered his head, and sniffed gently.
