Chapter 1 Time Travel

The Great Chu Dynasty, Xinghe Village

"ah!!"

A piercing scream ripped through the air, shattering the silence.

"Yinyin, what's wrong? Don't scare your mother!"

"Waaaah, sister, please wake up!"

"Mother, please, Yinyin has a fever and fainted. Please give me some money to find a doctor, otherwise she will really be in danger!"

"Oh, sister-in-law, no offense, but it's just fainting, what's the big deal?"

"Pah! You barren hen, you jinx! How dare you ask for money? If I hadn't married you, would my Chen'er be dead?"

"Two good-for-nothings, dead is dead, and they still want money? Dream on!"

"Mother, how could you do this? Yinyin is your granddaughter! You can't be so heartless!"

"Pah, heartless? If I were heartless, I would have kicked you all out long ago. I'm just too sentimental, that's why I'm not that ruthless."

………

Countless voices, some pitiful and aggrieved, some gloating, and some sharp, mean, and vicious, rang out in Zhiyin's ears. She couldn't help but frown and slowly open her eyes.

Everything in sight was a vast expanse of white, as if a heavy snow had just fallen.

Standing in front of her were many people dressed in ancient costumes and wrapped up tightly.

The old woman leading the group had a wrinkled face and small, narrow eyes. She was babbling on and on with disgust and resentment, making one want to sew her mouth shut.

Standing next to her were a middle-aged man and woman, and two children, one big and one small, a boy and a girl.

Without exception, all of them wore gloating expressions and looked on with amusement.

The middle-aged man looked at her for a long time, seemingly reluctant, and said hypocritically, "Mother, please let your younger siblings go in. It's the dead of winter, they'll get sick from the cold."

However, before he could finish speaking, the middle-aged woman next to him nudged him twice with her elbow, saying, "Oh dear, husband, don't worry about it, they're fine, aren't they?"

.........

Hearing these harsh words, Zhiyin felt inexplicably irritated. Feeling a chill that seemed to penetrate to her very bones, she couldn't help but shiver, and her doubts deepened.

Wasn't she dead?

Didn't he die suddenly from working too hard all night?

How can a dead person still feel cold?

Who are these people? Are they ghosts?

Just as Zhiyin was wondering where she was and why she was here, a flood of memories rushed into her mind the next second.

Zhiyin finally understood her current situation and couldn't help but be stunned for a moment.

She actually time-traveled!

She also traveled to a fictional dynasty that did not exist in history, becoming a 15-year-old girl named Zhiyin in Xinghe Village during the Great Chu Dynasty.

The original owner's father went to serve in the army and unfortunately died on the battlefield. The pension given by the imperial court was all swallowed up by the patriarchal grandmother, who intended to use it to subsidize her eldest uncle's family.

The original owner's mother had only asked a few questions, but her grandmother accused her of having ulterior motives. Not only did she not give the original owner's mother a single penny, but she was also angry that the original owner's mother dared to covet things that did not belong to her.

They even used this as an excuse to punish the three of them by making them kneel in the freezing cold, and they were not allowed to eat until they had knelt for an hour.

The original owner was already in poor health, and being dressed in thin clothes while kneeling in the snow, he froze to death.

That's how she came to be.

As she recalled the events, Zhiyin felt a surge of anger and frustration coursing through her body, and her fists clenched tightly.

His eyes were fixed on that utterly despicable grandmother!

Damn it...

She is a self-made woman who has become the richest woman in the top 10 of listed companies and has countless assets. How could she have ever suffered such humiliation?

She immediately tried to stand up, but as soon as she moved, she felt her body stiffen and fell back down.

Not only that, she felt both hot and cold, and had a splitting headache.

"Yinyin, you're awake? My poor daughter! Waaaaah!"

The mother, Yao Yulin, immediately embraced Zhiyin with heartache. When she touched Zhiyin's burning forehead, she panicked and was about to rush off to call a doctor.

However, the next second he was shoved down hard by a large, fat hand.

A gloating, malicious chuckle followed, "Sister-in-law, didn't Mother tell you to kneel for an hour before getting up? It hasn't even been half an hour yet!"

"If you get up now, wouldn't you be disobeying Mother's orders?"

Her movements were so fast that neither Yao Yulin nor her confidante in her arms were prepared and they both fell helplessly onto the snow.

"Mother, sister, are you alright?"

Seeing this, the younger sister, Zhihua, glared fiercely at her aunt, then looked at Yao Yulin with eyes full of heartache and worry, and hurriedly and clumsily helped the two of them up.

"Oh dear, why are you glaring at me? You're so young and you're already learning bad habits. You're such a good-for-nothing. No wonder you're not as good as a son."

The aunt spoke with disdain, as if having a son made her feel superior. She looked at Zhihua with contempt and disgust, then lowered her head and picked up the boy who looked about 5 or 6 years old at her feet.

She reached out and pinched his chubby cheeks. "Our Zhifu is still the most obedient."

The baby boy in her arms immediately stuck out his tongue, nodding in a sly and malicious tone, "Hehehe, yes, the good-for-nothing was punished by kneeling, serves him right!"

His eyes, barely slits due to his obesity, were filled with malice and disgust, completely oblivious to the child's innocence.

Feeling the coldness and pain beneath her, Yao Yulin angrily pointed at her aunt, "Sister-in-law, how could you be so cruel?"

"Tsk... Sister-in-law, I'm only doing this for your own good. If people knew you disrespected your grandmother, you'd be condemned by everyone. In the end, you should thank me!"
