Chapter 195 Cooperation

Inside Zuihuan Tower

Looking at the once bustling and lively lobby, where customers would flock every evening, now only a pitifully sparse number of people, Mom was furious.

Even the girls inside the building were listless, their faces filled with anxiety and worry.

After all, they only make money when they have more customers; what will they do if they have fewer customers?

Are we going to starve?

However, even though they kept trying to attract customers outside, the results were still minimal.

"What's going on? Why are there fewer and fewer customers?"

"There used to be so much more! We were making a fortune every day!"

"Have all the guests turned over a new leaf? Have they stopped being interested in women? That can't be, can it?"

The mother paced anxiously, muttering to herself. Then, she couldn't help but poke the girls' foreheads behind her, her face full of anger. "Tell me, did you brats fail to serve the guests properly?"

"Or did you offend them?"

"So they were pushed into other brothels?"

"Otherwise, how could there be so few people? Or has a new brothel opened and is competing with us for business?"

She started babbling incessantly, spitting everywhere, her whole demeanor extremely fierce. The girls whose names were called stood there timidly, their expressions utterly defeated.

They said in unison, helplessly, "Mom, we don't know what happened either!"

"We didn't do anything!"

"There are still many customers looking for the courtesan, so that shouldn't be the reason!"

"We have guests! We have guests!"

Suddenly, a girl's eyes lit up, and she eagerly pointed to the people squeezing in through the door and went to greet them warmly.

"Sir, how many people are in your party?"

"Today, all of us sisters can serve you!"

As they spoke, the girls winked at them, their voices incredibly charming.

Normally, the guests would have been eyeing them with lustful looks, but the next second, something happened that completely surprised the girls.

Instead of embracing the girls as usual, the guests frowned, slapped their noses in disgust, and said, "Stay away from us!!"

"You all smell too strongly of cosmetics!"

It couldn't compare to the delicate fragrance and floral scent that the fairies of the Memory Theatre possessed—a subtle yet incredibly pleasant aroma.

I never realized it before, but now, compared to them, this group of people in front of me seems like a bunch of ordinary, unremarkable women.

They're worlds apart, one in the heavens and the other on earth—they're completely incomparable!

Upon hearing this, the spineless girls were instantly embarrassed, frozen in place, unsure whether to leave or stay.

Her mother's expression changed, but before she could say anything...

The guest frowned at the woman's giggles and the man's rough shouts and drinking games, then said, "Find us a quiet private room, and a few more quiet girls."

The mother was dumbfounded; she never expected that someone would make such a request when they came to a brothel.

But when they handed him the heavy sum of silver, he immediately beamed with joy and hurriedly ushered them inside.

But in his heart he was full of disdain, thinking that these people were just being pretentious. They had come to a place like this, and now they were still pretending to be so virtuous!

Are you kidding me?

I reckon he won't be able to hold on once we get into the private room; he'll collapse under the girls' skirts in no time.

However, she was soon dumbfounded again. After these people entered the private room, they ordered a pot of tea and some pastries, leaving the girls staring at each other in disbelief.

They, however, started chatting amongst themselves.

After listening for a while, the girls finally understood why business had gotten worse!

They were all quite frustrated, wondering, "Are these so-called novels and plays really that good?"

"Were those seven fairies really that beautiful? Like celestial beings?"

"Why are these people acting like they're possessed? How can this be so outrageous? This isn't realistic!"

At first, Mom didn't care, but soon after, when she went to the Zhiji Theater herself and experienced the overwhelming crowds and the fact that tickets were almost impossible to buy, she finally understood that what was said was true.

I was so envious!

She really wanted to learn it secretly so that her girls could follow suit, but she soon discovered that it was just too difficult.

It was just a matter of letting the girls wear it, and it was relatively easy to imitate the same clothes, which briefly attracted another wave of foot traffic.

But that's not a long-term solution.

When she learned that Zhiyin's teahouse was collaborating with other teahouses, she also had her own ideas and tried to use her connections to collaborate with Zhiyin.

Not only her, but other cosmetics shop owners who saw the booming popularity of Zhiyin also wanted to seek cooperation.

They want to get their fans to help them collaborate on a brand, which might boost sales of their cosmetics as well.

Zhiyin did not accept all of these collaborations.

I simply accepted the collaboration with the cosmetics store that the theater ladies usually use really well, because cosmetics are something that should be handled with caution.

Zhiyin readily accepted the collaboration with Zuihuanlou, but on one condition: Zuihuanlou would completely transform itself into a theater.

Ultimately, it ended on a sour note!

The manager behind Zuihuanlou always believed that the theater couldn't cause any trouble.

After all, people were probably just curious at first, and if there weren't any new stories to tell, it would eventually go out of business.

Moreover, the seven fairies ultimately looked more at women and children; the men were merely following the trend, purely lusting after the fairies' looks and bodies.
