Chapter 26 The Little Thief

Eating the steaming hot bun in her hand, Zhiyin couldn't help but squint her eyes and exclaim in admiration, "So delicious! Meat in ancient times was truly hearty!"

She walked for a few minutes and arrived at the general store again. Seeing the deerskin and other items in the basket, she immediately finished the last bite of her bun and went inside without hesitation.

The shopkeeper was a shrewd-looking old man. When he saw Zhiyin enter, he merely glanced at her and said, "Oh, young lady, what would you like to order?"

Without hesitation, Zhiyin placed all the animal hides from his basket onto the table. "Hey, shopkeeper, how much silver are these animal hides worth?"

The shopkeeper, upon seeing so many snakeskins, deerkins, mink skins, and leopard skins, instantly woke up from his drowsiness. He immediately stood up, his eyes gleaming, and carefully picked up a large leopard skin to examine it closely. The more he looked, the more delighted he became, and his gaze towards his kindred spirit was filled with light.

Her voice was filled with surprise, "Wow, little girl, where did you come from? These are all top-quality items!"

Animal skins such as deerskin, mink skin, and leopard skin are highly sought after by the wealthy and powerful, serving as a symbol of status. They are often in short supply and therefore generally command high prices.

Zhiyin casually sat down on the bench and said, "Don't worry about where you're from, just name your price!"

"Alright, alright, why are you in such a hurry, young lady? Surely you won't be shortchanged on your money?"

The shopkeeper gave Zhiyin a disgruntled look, then immediately picked up the deerskin and examined it closely, his eyes practically glued to it.

Seeing this, Zhiyin couldn't help but twitch her lips. "Shopkeeper, you're looking so closely, are you trying to find a flower, or something else?"

Seeing the shopkeeper's wolfish gaze, Zhiyin was afraid he would devour the leopard skin at any moment.

"Hey, isn't this the first time I've seen such complete and high-quality leopard skins? Tsk tsk tsk, every single one is perfect. You're quite the little girl!"

The shopkeeper was a little embarrassed by what he was told, but he was genuinely excited.

After all, although people had come to sell animal hides in the past, they were mostly incomplete and were mostly deer hides; leopard hides had never been seen before.

If this could be made into animal skin coats, it would definitely sell like hotcakes!

Thinking of this, he excitedly moved closer to Zhiyin, his old, dim eyes staring intently at her. He rubbed his hands together, his face full of flattery, "Little girl, your master is a professional hunter, isn't he?"

An ugly face suddenly appeared in front of Zhiyin, startling her greatly. She quickly backed away, looking at him warily. "What do you want? So what if it is? So what if it isn't?"

"Stop talking nonsense! Can you sell it or not? Give me a straight answer."

She frowned in displeasure, feeling that the old man in front of her was very impolite, always asking such private questions.

"Hehe, little girl, don't be angry. I didn't mean any harm."

After saying this, he saw that his confidant was getting impatient, and realized that he had asked too many questions, so he couldn't help but touch his nose.

His expression turned serious, and he said, "I won't mince words with you; after all, I don't want to do business only once."

"Deer and sable furs are relatively common, so I'll charge you two taels of silver per piece. As for leopard fur, it's extremely rare and practically priceless, so I'll charge you ten taels of silver per piece."

"What do you think? This is the highest price I can offer! I just hope that if the young lady has any more animal hides in the future, she can sell them to me. I promise you won't lose out."

He spoke with a voice full of confidence.

Upon hearing the price, Zhiyin was momentarily surprised, but on the surface, she remained calm and composed, showing no sign of it. Instead, she nodded decisively, "Deal!"

There were a total of 16 taels of silver, which was a considerable sum of money.

The shopkeeper was very decisive at this moment, and without hesitation, he immediately went to the inner room to get the silver.

After seeing Zhiyin take the money and turn around decisively, he still called out reluctantly from behind, "You must come to my house to sell animal skins in the future! Tiger skins would be even better!"

Zhiyin simply waved her hand at him, knowing it was impossible.

Let alone tiger skin, this time it's because it was skinned by Yuanyuan's mother's husband. If it were her, she wouldn't kill an animal for its skin just to sell it for money.

Furthermore, Yuanyuan's mother doesn't have this habit, so this is a one-time transaction.

That's what she thought, but looking at the heavy silver in her arms, she was also thinking about how to repay Yuanyuan's mother.

After all, without it, he wouldn't have been able to acquire so much silver in such a short period of time.

But it seems that the tiger doesn't lack anything for the time being, right?

Zhiyin felt like her head was about to explode from thinking so hard, when suddenly she saw a clothing store and an idea popped into her head.

I plan to buy some fabric when I get back later to make clothes for everyone, and I'll also make a set for Yuanyuan and Mengmeng.

Zhiyin was so engrossed in her thoughts that she didn't notice that someone had been watching her the moment she stepped out of the grocery store.

Seeing her stuff the heavy object into her sleeve, his eyes lit up instantly, and he immediately made up his mind.

Soon, a short boy, clearly a child, found an opportunity and accidentally bumped into Zhiyin from the side.

Before Zhiyin could get angry, the boy lowered his head and stammered, "I'm sorry."

He ran away immediately after saying that.

Zhiyin paused for a moment, then seemed to realize something. Her eyes widened suddenly, and she reached for her sleeve.

When they realized that the place was empty.

He cursed as he watched the figure rush past.

"Damn it, you son of a bitch, how dare you steal my money in broad daylight! You're asking for trouble!"

After saying that, she immediately sprinted up at top speed. Just as he was about to turn, Zhiyin picked up a pebble from the ground and threw it at him.

It hit the man's calf squarely, and his child staggered from the intense pain.

In that brief moment, Zhiyin rushed over and delivered a swift flying kick, striking him squarely in the back and knocking him to the ground.

At the same time, he plopped down on him and, without any hesitation, threw left and right hooks at his face.

"You bastard, how dare you steal my things? You want to die!"

Zhiyin snatched the item from his hands and stuffed it into her bosom, kicking him repeatedly.

The boy was completely terrified. He never expected that his confidante would catch up so quickly and then beat him up like a tigress.

He swallowed hard, seeing the sinister expression on Zhiyin's delicate face. "I...I'm sorry, I was wrong, please forgive me! Don't hit me anymore..."

Feeling the excruciating pain, he immediately begged for mercy.

At the same time, they were filled with regret. They thought she was just a little girl, but they never expected her to be such a tigress.

This is a complete loss; they didn't get any money, and now they have to spend money to see a doctor.
