Chapter 31 Fainting

Zhiyin's voice wasn't quiet, so everyone present, as well as her grandfather and aunt outside, could vaguely hear it.

Both of them looked at her with hatred and anger.

The grandfather began to curse under his breath, "Damn it, what a disgrace to our family! How could we have raised such an ingrate?"

If looks could kill, Zhiyin would probably have been killed countless times over.

However, she didn't care at all, and even accurately caught her grandfather's gaze, giving him a provocative and sly smile, which infuriated her grandfather.

"Slap slap slap..."

As the sound of the board hitting flesh echoed, a look of pain appeared on Grandma's face, and her fingers gripped the ground so tightly that she almost dug it apart.

If her mouth hadn't been stuffed with rags, her screams would have been deafening.

The two burly men took turns slapping Grandmother's bottom repeatedly, showing absolutely no mercy.

Grandmother kept sobbing, her eyes almost bulging out of their sockets from the pain, her eyes were bloodshot, and snot and tears were streaming down her face uncontrollably. She looked so pitiful with tears streaming down her face.

The initial chill from having a piece of clothing removed has now vanished, replaced by excruciating pain all over my body. My buttocks feel completely numb, as if they've been beaten to a pulp, only filled with agony.

Fresh blood kept seeping from his buttocks, staining his entire clothes red.

The smell of blood spread instantly.

At first, she would stare at Zhiyin with hatred, but gradually the pain in her body overshadowed everything else.

However, she was probably thick-skinned and tough, so she could withstand a lot of beatings. An ordinary person would faint after being hit with ten strokes of the cane, but my grandmother actually took 18 strokes of the cane before she fainted.

It's still quite powerful.

The grandfather and aunt, who were standing to the side, could not bear to look at their grandmother's miserable state and, of course, dared not plead for her.

She looked at Zhiyin with fear in her eyes, feeling that Zhiyin was really cold-hearted, that she had actually caused her grandmother to become like this, and that Zhiyin still dared to laugh.

Although no blows landed on the grandfather and aunt, each loud thud felt like a blow to their hearts, making them tremble, their hands and feet go weak, and their legs shake uncontrollably.

"Alright... Now that the fight is over, let's wake him up! I still have some questions to ask him."

Jun Yexue spoke without any mercy.

The grandfather seemed to have finally regained his conscience, unable to bear the thought of waking his wife after she had been beaten and was covered in blood.

With her aunt's help, she staggered over and knelt before Jun Yexue, her eyes blurry with tears. Her voice trembled with unprecedented respect, "Magistrate Jun, my wife knows she was wrong. Please, have mercy on her!"

"Tell me what's wrong, please stop torturing her... Waaaaah!"

Jun Yexue nodded, "Alright... since you are her husband, it's fine to tell you."

After saying that, her voice became stern again, "Is it true that your granddaughter accused your wife of embezzling her father's pension?"

Seeing her grandfather hesitate and appear unwilling to tell the truth, she slammed her hand on the table again and shouted, "Tell the truth!!!"

She sneered, "If you dare to lie to me, I will find out the truth, and then this matter will not be so simple!"

Yes, yes, yes, yes.

Grandfather was startled by the sudden loud noise and, fearing he would be beaten as badly as Grandmother, quickly admitted it.

But he still shamelessly argued, "But we didn't do it on purpose. We just thought that Yinyin and her two daughters were still young, so we were just keeping them safe for them temporarily."

Having said that, he concealed the gloom in his eyes and looked at Zhiyin as if she were an ignorant child, with a hint of reproach, "You child, how could you trouble the county magistrate with such a small matter?"

"If you have any complaints, just say so. We're your family, how could we possibly bully you!"

"Oh, you're such a thoughtless child!"

His eyes were full of disapproval, and he even turned the tables on the other side.

Zhiyin looked at his hypocritical act, which seemed to be thinking of her, and couldn't help but sneer, her eyes full of mockery.

"Tsk... What are you saying, Grandfather? Have you forgotten?"

“My mother only asked a few questions, and you punished us by making us kneel in the snow, almost freezing us to death. Is this what you call caring for us?”

When his grandfather saw that his confidant was so ruthless and revealed everything, he immediately lost face, turning pale and then red.

"Shut up! If you have it, return it immediately. You guys are really bold! Don't you know that according to the imperial law, you can only receive half of the compensation?"

"If there's a next time, it won't be as simple as just returning it!"

The grandfather, like a grandson, let Jun Yexue scold him. He glanced at the crowd of onlookers who were pointing and whispering about them. He was filled with hatred. He hated his confidante for being so merciless.

Why did she have to embarrass herself at her age?

But facing Jun Yexue's icy gaze, they nodded repeatedly, "Yes, yes, we know we were wrong, we didn't mean it! We'll never do it again!"

"Then return it now!"

Jun Yexue rubbed her forehead, looking a little tired.

The grandfather shook his head awkwardly and embarrassedly, "I...I don't have any money on me...only the family has some."

He quickly added after saying that, "But don't worry, I will definitely give it to you!"

Jun Yexue frowned. "Are you trying to trick me? Are you trying to stall for time? Or are you just putting on an act for me?"
