Chapter 53 Adventure

Ming Weiting closed his computer, took off his headphones and stood up.

The air has a special coolness when it rains. The water from the sky and the water from the sea collide with each other, forming a mist with blurred boundaries, and the wind blows freely through it.

The large green leaves on the terrace stretched out, catching some raindrops, adding a fresh scent of grass and trees to the sea breeze.

Luo Chi was sleeping in a recliner, covered with an exceptionally thick blanket, with one hand hanging down.

He was not sleeping soundly. When he noticed Ming Weiting approaching, he opened his eyes. The hazy fog from waking up dissipated in a blink, and I could accurately locate the familiar figure.

As soon as he opened his eyes, he saw Mr. Shadow. Luo Chi was in a good mood and his eyes immediately narrowed.

Ming Weiting was relieved by him and smiled, touching his forehead: "Are you not bored anymore?"

"It will be much better if it can breathe." Luo Chi said as he took a deep breath. His fever had just subsided and his breathing was still not smooth. He couldn't help coughing twice, but he still let out a long breath comfortably.

Seeing that he was in good spirits, Ming Weiting felt relieved and sat down beside him, picking up Luo Chi's hanging right hand.

Luo Chi hadn't played the guitar for a while. His hands were itching to play the guitar. Once he touched the strings, he couldn't bear to let go. He practiced all day without feeling tired. He even slept with the guitar in his arms at night.

He couldn't exert much strength in his right hand, and his hand shape was not correct. After a day, there were some obvious bloodstains on Luo Chi's fingertips.

Ming Weiting had never played the guitar before, so he estimated the hardness of the strings and asked, "Will it hurt?"

"No." Luo Chi smiled and shook his head, "Very comfortable."

He spoke very seriously. Ming Weiting looked into his eyes and knew that Luo Chi really thought so, so he lowered his head to help him apply medicine on his hands.

Ming Weiting had never done these things before. At first, he watched the nurse take care of Luo Chi, but Luo Chi's consciousness was in a state of confusion at that time. He was already very uneasy because of the unfamiliar environment, not to mention being pressed on the bed by a group of complete strangers to treat his physical condition.

In order to prevent Luo Chi from hurting others or himself while struggling unconsciously, we can only use sedatives or restraints. Ming Weiting had seen that situation once, and he vowed never to let it happen to Luo Chi again.

At that time, Luo Chi only had an impression of Mr. Shadow, so Ming Weiting began to learn how to take care of Luo Chi.

These things were not difficult. Luo Chi had originally been a very cooperative patient. As he did so, he became more and more natural and skilled at them, and they gradually became a habit.

However, Luo Chi had fully woken up now. He was holding his right hand and applying medicine to it like he was taking care of a child. He felt warmth gradually rising behind his ears, and his fingers curled back involuntarily.

Ming Weiting was slipped away by his fingers several times and looked up at him questioningly.

Luo Chi was rarely embarrassed, so he coughed lightly and explained in a low voice: "I have been applying medicine to myself since I was five years old."

These words were very convincing. Ming Weiting stopped to think about it and looked towards the room.

The guitar was sleeping on the bed, covered with a quilt.

Luo Chi slept with his guitar in his arms last night, and he even said "good morning" to the guitar this morning. When he carried Luo Chi to the terrace to get some fresh air, he saw Luo Chi arranging the pillows himself and covering them tightly with the quilt.

Luo Chi froze and his ears began to feel hot as he watched him calmly bring up the old matter from a few hours ago.

Ming Weiting has already measured the maturity of this behavior and gave an objective assessment: "Four and a half years old."

Luo Chi almost wanted to jump off the recliner to hide the evidence that he was four and a half years old. But he really had no strength. The slightest movement would make him feel dizzy. He had no choice but to slide down slowly and guiltily until he slid under the blanket.

It was the first time Ming Weiting saw him have such a reaction, which was both novel and funny. Take the opportunity to finish taking the medicine. He couldn't help but raise his hand and touch Luo Chi's hair through the blanket.

Ming Weiting sometimes thought that what he rescued from the water that day was just an empty shell.

He protected this empty shell and waited for Luo Chi. Luo Chi waded back from somewhere cold and dark on the other side and filled this empty shell again bit by bit.

Luo Chi did not hide things from him, so he saw many things that he had not known before.

Some were novel, some were funny, and some made him want to touch the other person's hair, but no matter what the situation was, his chest unconsciously felt soft and warm.

In between taking care of Luo Chi these days, Ming Weiting took the time to watch those videos and would also think about Luo Chi when he was ten years old.

At that time, Luo Chi had just been brought back to the Ren family, and he already looked like a little adult. He seems precocious in everything he says and does, and his manners are exceptionally steady.

...But you can hug it by just bending over, and lift it up with some effort.

So you can’t blame Aunt Ren for always holding him in her arms and kneading him hard.

Mrs. Ren opened her steady and mature outer shell and took out the Luo Chi inside.

Luo Chi's unyielding temper was probably developed this way - he also had a time when no matter what he did, as long as he did the right thing, there would always be someone to support him.

Even though that period of time was not very long, the confidence that was always there made Mrs. Ren continue to protect Luo Chi even after her death.

Ming Weiting and he had a secret code for whispering, so he also lifted the blanket and asked in a low voice: "Are you still sleeping with Guitar tonight?"

Luo Chi was even more embarrassed, and even the back of his neck was hot: "Is it convenient?"

Ming Weiting groaned: "It's a bit inconvenient."

Luo Chi sighed reluctantly and nodded regretfully.

Ming Weiting looked at him, raised his hand, put it on the back of Luo Chi's slightly cold neck, and rubbed it gently.

He had discovered before that he would not have any objection to any reasonable request made by Luo Chi, even if it was disagreed or rejected without any reason.

"You can sleep with your guitar in the future." Ming Weiting said softly, "It's not convenient right now."

He was trying, intentionally leaving the words half-answered, and Luo Chi was indeed aroused by curiosity: "Recently?"

Ming Weiting nodded: "It will be inconvenient for the next ten days, you need to take care of your health."

Xun Zhen initially scheduled the operation for ten days later. Ming Weiting and Ming Lu discussed it and decided to stay in Wanghai Villa for these ten days to get Luo Chi's body into the most suitable state for the operation.

After these days of rest, Luo Chi's physical condition has indeed improved a lot compared to the worst period, but he still cannot let his guard down easily.

Luo Chi himself actually had no idea what happened last night.

The rainy season in Linhai is not long but it is definitely not short. Yesterday it rained for most of the day and was sunny for only a few hours at night. It started raining again not long after it got dark.

This rain was heavier than before, with loud thunder and the rain almost making the windows crackle at night. Ming Weiting couldn't sleep well, so he got up to check on Luo Chi, and found that Luo Chi was indeed feeling unwell.

With the guitar sleeping beside him, Luo Chi felt very peaceful. But after all, the fever didn't go away until the evening. I stayed in an airtight room all day, and the air pressure was a little lower at night, so I felt suffocated.

Luo Chi fell into a deep sleep at night. Even if he felt uncomfortable, he could hardly wake up. He was just troubled by a suffocating dream and was immersed in cold sweats without realizing it.

Ming Weiting held Luo Chi up and let him lean on him to breathe oxygen for half an hour. Luo Chi's condition finally improved a little, but today he still couldn't muster up any energy and felt dizzy when he moved a little.

"It's more convenient to sleep with me." Ming Weiting tried to proceed step by step and discussed with Luo Chi, "I will know as soon as you feel uncomfortable."

Ming Weiting explained to him truthfully: "You can't be left alone to take care of you at night."

After he finished speaking, he looked at Luo Chi, whose eyes widened and he didn't move at all. "What's wrong?"

Luo Chi had already slid into the blanket. Now he had no way to slide. He opened his mouth and spoke even more quietly: "I have been sleeping by myself since I was three years old."

Ming Weiting looked back at the guitar again.

Luo Chi was of course aware that this was an accusation of "you slept with your guitar in your arms last night." He wanted to explain the difference between the two in detail, but his thinking was a little slow before he caught up with the other party's last sentence.

Ming Weiting watched his expression change slowly. First, he felt the heat burning into his collar, then he was visibly startled, and after thinking for a moment, he was obviously absent-minded.

These changes were very subtle, and Luo Chi looked no different from before, except that the enthusiasm that seemed particularly fresh just now had faded abruptly.

Ming Weiting lifted the blanket and tidied it for him again, his eyes still on Luo Chi: "Flame?"

Luo Chi smiled and shook his head: "It's okay, I——"

He stopped talking and looked at Mr. Shadow who came around in front of him and put his hands around his neck.

"Huomiao." Ming Weiting looked at him seriously, "I said the wrong thing."

Luo Chi immediately shook his head without hesitation.

The amplitude of his movements was slightly larger than before, and he immediately felt dizzy. He groaned uncontrollably and hastily closed his eyes.

...It's a bit bad.

One bad thing is that he seems to be in poor health.

Of course Luo Chi already knew about this. Although he thought he had only broken his leg a few days ago, he still had to take a lot of medicine, receive intravenous drips and physical therapy, and if the doctor came, blood would be drawn for tests.

I was so excited about playing the guitar yesterday that I didn’t pay much attention to feeling uncomfortable. When he lay down at night, the discomfort in his body and the side effects of the medicine took their toll on him, and he had a basic understanding of his situation.

Luo Chi closed his eyes. He was protected by the strong support from behind his neck. He rested his forehead on Mr. Shadow's chest and concentrated on regulating his breathing to suppress the dizziness.

"It will be fine after the surgery, Xun Zhen promised."

Ming Weiting knew that he was dizzy, and said in a low voice: "It will be very good."

He had made this promise to Luo Chi, but since he wasn't sure if Luo Chi still remembered it, he planned to repeat it many times: "You will be very healthy in the future."

This is not what Luo Chi cares about most - of course he cares about this, but since Mr. Shadow said it would be fine, he does not doubt it.

Since childhood, Luo Chi has suffered from many illnesses, and the number of accidental injuries he has suffered is more than the number of illnesses he has been sick. He knew that being ill was painful, and he also knew that he had to cooperate with treatment and work hard to recuperate. He always believed that he would be able to recover.

If the patient himself does not believe that he can be cured, his condition will naturally fluctuate, and it will also cause a lot of trouble to the people around him and the doctor in charge of the treatment.

In the past, when he encountered such a situation, he would find ways to take care of himself...but this time the illness seemed a little more serious.

It seems that physical problems cannot be solved by just making extra efforts.

He couldn't seem to take care of himself.

Ming Weiting suddenly said: "Wait a moment."

Luo Chi was stunned for a moment. He watched Ming Weiting quickly return to the room. Soon he came out with the computer and sat in front of him again.

"Because I'm sick." Ming Weiting looked at the screen, "I'm worried that I'll cause trouble."

Luo Chi was a little stunned and widened his eyes slightly.

Ming Weiting operated the mouse again and continued to scroll down two pages.

"I don't want anyone to worry about me, or to take care of me." He raised his head and looked at Luo Chi, "I don't want anyone to suffer because of you."

Luo Chi's eyes were already a little wide open.

He was wrapped in a thick velvet blanket, with his chin slightly tucked into the blanket. He was wrapped tightly. Standing there with his eyes wide open, he almost looks like the twelve-year-old in the video.

Ming Weiting couldn't help but reach out and touch his hair.

The terrace can block the rain very well, but some water mist still inevitably drifts in. Luo Chi had been outside for a while, and his hair was slightly damp, so it felt softer to the touch.

Ming Weiting placed one hand on the top of his head, held the computer with one hand, and continued to look at the screen: "It would be great if physical illnesses could be cured as long as we work hard enough."

...Aunt.

Mr. Shadow may have bought a mind-reading machine disguised as a computer.

Luo Chi opened his eyes wide. He was so shocked last time, but this might be the first time he saw Aunt Ren holding the young man from a noble family who had said something bad about him to apologize to him.

"'Star-Chasing Notes'." Ming Weiting read the title of the document to him one last time, "There is a lot more content."

Luo Chi still remembered that he had been on the show. But all he said on the show was what he liked to eat and what he liked to do. Most of it was made up. He definitely couldn't have said: "When..."

Luo Chi suddenly reacted: "Truth or Dare?"

Ming Weiting nodded: "That night, there was a period of time when you were so sleepy that you couldn't open your eyes, so we played many rounds."

"Lucky fan." Luo Chi slowly regained his memory, "Keep turning the conch to your side."

The lucky fan remained calm: "It's because of friction."

Luo Chi was so amused by him that he couldn't help but purse his lips, but then he remembered that this question was very serious, and tried to suppress it: "The strength of turning the conch is also very important. Uncle Lu said that the master is very good at roulette."

"I have no interest in gambling." Mr. Ming was equally calm. "If necessary, I will modify the props."

Luo Chi was curious: "Has the conch also been transformed?"

When Ming Weiting saw that he had recovered his spirit, a smile appeared in his eyes and he shook his head.

When Luo Chi couldn't hear, he had to rely on lip movements to make out what the other person was saying. He had gotten used to looking into Luo Chi's eyes. He held onto the armrests of the recliner, lowered his shoulders slightly, and looked at him seriously from bottom to top.

"I'll discuss this with Hai Luo," Ming Weiting said softly, "I want to take better care of this person. Please let me ask him a few more questions."

Ming Weiting said: "Please let me get to know him better."

His voice was low and exceptionally soft. He turned his back to the window, which was filled with drifting wind, rain and mist, and stared at Luo Chi.

Luo Chi's smile was still in his eyes. He opened his mouth but no sound came out.

Ming Weiting closed the computer and put it aside.

"Lucky fans also asked," Ming Weiting said, "If these things happen, how can we make Huo Miao happy again."

Luo Chi came back to his senses. His earlobes felt hot for some reason. He looked at Mr. Shadow seriously and explained earnestly, "I am very happy now."

"It's just my own psychological problem. I'm just used to my old ways. It won't have much of an impact." Luo Chi assured him, "I'll try to adjust myself—"

Ming Weiting raised his hand and gently touched his eyelashes: "Flame."

He rarely did this when Luo Chi was awake. Luo Chi blinked subconsciously, feeling both itchy and curious, and asked softly, "What's wrong?"

"Both physical illnesses and those here." Ming Weiting moved his hand downwards and pressed it against his left chest through his soft home clothes. "Neither of them can be solved by hard work alone."

“You’ve tried very hard.”

Ming Weiting said: "You are the most hardworking and brave person I have ever met. You came back from the farthest bottom of the sea to find me."

Luo Chi blinked slowly.

His chest, which was being held down by Mr. Shadow, seemed to tremble silently, and his heart suddenly became uncontrollably active, hitting the other person's palm through his chest again and again.

"Leave the rest to me." Ming Weiting asked softly, "What did you dream about last night?"

Luo Chi actually didn’t remember it. He thought about it carefully for a long time, but it was still not clear: “I dreamed of… the beach.”

"Watching the sunrise." Luo Chi said, "I accidentally fell asleep."

He dreamed that he accidentally fell asleep against a reef, and then was trapped in a place where he could not move. He could only listen to the people around him talking to him... He actually wanted to talk to the people around him and wanted to open his mouth, but no sound came out.

He dreamed that he tried hard to reach out his hand, but he had no strength. The sunlight was pushed towards him by the waves, right in front of him.

I've even been through that completely confusing fog, so this kind of dream is actually nothing.

He didn't feel uncomfortable, he just felt relaxed in that dream. It was a kind of genuine relaxation and satisfaction that made him want to laugh just thinking about it.

He watched the people around him getting better little by little, and this process of improvement was something he tried his best to achieve.

He had been in this world before and left something behind as proof.

Luo Chi came back to his senses.

He thought carefully for a long time, then carefully crossed out the word "once". "I'm back."

"I haven't had enough fun yet." He imitated Aunt Ren's words, pursing his lips, "Hey, I'm back again."

He himself was not of that temper at all, but he imitated Aunt Ren's tone so vividly that this sentence became quite justified.

Lian Mingweiting also smiled and touched his ear: "Why are you so cool?"

Luo Chi felt really happy this time.

He took a deep breath. The wind coming from the sea, with a fresh rain mist wrapped in the scent of grass and trees, continuously poured into his body, and suddenly he had a new idea.

He wanted to touch the rain.

He wanted to touch the things in front of him.

No longer just looking at them from a distance, he wanted to touch them, to remember what it felt like to touch them again.

Luo Chi twisted his fingers slowly.

He burned from his earlobe down to his neck, and relying on the sudden sense of righteousness he had just felt, he moved his hand over little by little and quickly pulled down Mr. Shadow's shirt.

Mr. Shadow had his hands on the armrests of the recliner and was looking down at him seriously. Before he could take his hands away, he held his hand firmly.

"The last one." Luo Chi whispered, "The truth."

Luo Chi was actually very embarrassed to ask his lucky fans such a question, but he still made up his mind: "How did I... answer?"

Ming Weiting recalled for a moment and repeated: "If these things happened, how can we make Huo Miao happy again?"

Luo nodded enthusiastically.

He was actually very happy, but he seemed to be easily carried away, for example, he was feeling very carried away right now.

That rather greedy thought that seemed to have been extremely long ago began to quietly emerge from the soil again.

"I don't know." Ming Weiting said.

Luo Chi was stunned for a moment: "I don't know?"

Ming Weiting nodded.

After that night of study, he had already mastered the rules of the game: "If the person falls asleep, according to the rules, it is considered a refusal to answer the truth."

Luo Chi immediately felt extremely regretful: "Why is the person involved so disappointing?"

...Mr. Shadow actually nodded.

Luo Chi was so amused that he couldn't help laughing out loud. He sighed forcefully and realistically, and was about to fall back into the recliner to sleep, but his head and neck were firmly held by a hand.

"Why is the person involved so disappointing?"

Ming Weiting touched Luo Chi's forehead and said, "I can't answer the truth question, so I can only take the risk."

Luo Chi was stunned for a few seconds, then slowly opened his eyes.

...Big Adventure?

A big adventure, of course!

Luo Chi didn't know why he was so nervous, but his heart was pounding.

"Big Adventure." Ming Weiting asked softly, "Huo Miao, what do you want to say?"

Luo Chi still looked at him.

The words were buried in his chest, and the wind poured the fresh and cool rain mist into his body, so the words gradually resurfaced and flowed over his throat.

What did he actually want to say when he handed the painting to Mr. Shadow on that rainy day?

It seemed like he didn't say he succeeded many times because he didn't have the courage to take the big risk. But it doesn't matter, he can try again.

He'll try again.

He will speak to be heard.

Luo Chi looked at the corner of the terrace. That location was very close to him and he could reach it in just a few steps.

Although it was raining, a small cloud in the sky was lifted by the wind.

Golden sunlight leaked through the gaps in the clouds and fell on the dark green leaves washed by the rain.

"I want to touch the rain. I haven't touched it for a long time. There is also a piece of sunshine there. I want to touch it too. It looks warm and bright. I think I can touch it..."

Luo Chi suddenly smiled, he took a deep breath and raised his eyes.

"Please give me a hand."

Luo Chi raised his eyes: "I want to stand up."

Ming Weiting hugged his shoulders, supported Luo Chi's shoulders and pulled him up from the recliner, holding his hand tightly.
