"Lung cancer? How could it be lung cancer?"
Ji Mushu simply couldn't believe it, and her eyes instantly reddened. "He almost never smokes, and he's so young..."
"The specific diagnosis will be determined after a consultation with experts tomorrow morning, so please don't worry."
The chief physician patiently explained, "However, our hospital is considered one of the most authoritative in Shengjing. Once a diagnosis is made, we still need to find a way to start treatment as soon as possible, but the specific results will not be available until tomorrow morning."
After the doctor left, Ji Mushu's legs went weak. She leaned against the windowsill, her eyes suddenly losing all light.
Even though the view outside the window was lush and green, at this moment, her heart was filled with despair.
How could it be cancer?
At this moment, the same question kept repeating in her mind: How could this be?
But she had no choice but to believe the doctor; he certainly wouldn't be joking with her.
Ji Mushu's fingers dug hard into her skin. She took a deep breath and forced herself to calm down because she could hear Yu Mobai's footsteps behind her.
"What's wrong."
Yu Mobai strode in casually. He had just come out of the restroom when he saw Ji Mushu standing in front of the window, staring blankly out the window.
"No, it's nothing."
Ji Mushu gently shook her head. "I got sand in my eye."
"oh."
Yu Mobai walked up to her, gently pried open her eyes with his fingers, and blew on them. "Are you feeling better?"
"Okay...okay."
Ji Mushu nodded hurriedly.
"If you're sick, you should get treatment."
Yu Mobai sighed.
"You found out?"
Ji Mushu looked up and stared at him blankly.
"Tears in the wind are an illness, and they need to be treated."
Yu Mobai said with a grin, "Look, I blew on you and your tears started falling."
"Yes...yes."
A storm raged in Ji Mushu's clear eyes, and she choked out, "Outside...the wind is so strong outside."
Yu Mobai smiled and gently wiped away the tears that slid down her cheeks. "What did the doctor say?"
"I don't know yet."
Ji Mushu wiped away her tears discreetly. "The doctor said the results won't be available until tomorrow."
"It'll be fine."
Yu Mobai waved his hand dismissively, "Let's go home."
"....good."
Ji Mushu glanced at him, and after a long while, she nodded.
The two walked out of the hospital hand in hand. Ji Mushu couldn't help but press her body against him, gently biting her lower lip before asking, "What do you want to eat tonight? I'll make it for you."
"Didn't you tell me to go to Dong Yike's place?"
Yu Mobai said this deliberately.
"Can't I change my mind?"
Ji Mushu hugged his arm tightly and clung to him, whispering, "Suddenly I don't want you to leave."
"Let's go out for dinner tonight."
Yu Mobai rubbed her head, "Hey, you didn't wash your hair today, it's not easy to rub."
"No way..."
Normally, Ji Mushu would have argued back, but this time, she explained very obediently, "I changed my shampoo. This shampoo makes my hair feel rough and it's not good at all."
"It's best to stick with what suits you best."
Yu Mobai said with a smile, then pulled Ji Mushu's tall figure into his arms, "It's been a long time since I've eaten near the school. I want to eat barbecue today."
"good."
After the two had dinner and returned home, Ji Mushu unexpectedly snuggled into Yu Mobai's arms and rubbed against him.
"Mo Bai."
Ji Mushu was particularly proactive tonight, her fingers dancing across his chest, her face as rosy as a peach blossom, her eyes brimming with spring.
I'm a little tired today.
Yu Mobai refused outright. He hadn't forgotten that Ji Mushu was pregnant, but Ji Mushu was unaware of it yet. What if she miscarried because of some random thing? There would be no way to clean up the mess.
However, upon hearing this, Ji Mushu was clearly saddened. She obediently found a comfortable spot next to Yu Mobai, but the moment she closed her eyes, a tear welled up...
Yu Mobai felt a chill on his arm, but he pretended not to notice.
...
The two of them went to the hospital again early the next morning.
This time, Ji Mushu got a definitive conclusion: Yu Mobai was diagnosed with lung cancer.
This is the worst possible shock.
Ji Mushu prayed all the way here that it wouldn't be true, but things didn't go as planned.
"The best course of action now is to be admitted to the hospital for treatment immediately."
The attending physician said, "The earlier the treatment, the longer the patient's life will be. The family should consider it."
"If...if we start treatment now, is there still a chance of a cure?"
Ji Mushu's lips were deathly pale, devoid of any color, and tears streamed down her face uncontrollably.
"The chances are slim."
The doctor shook his head. "The condition is already very serious. If it continues to drag on, it will probably get worse."
"Okay... thank you... thank you doctor."
Ji Mushu was sobbing, and Yu Mobai was waiting in the lounge. She made an excuse to go to the restroom.
However, she couldn't accept this result.
After thinking for a while, she picked up her phone and dialed a number.
Half an hour later, two tall and slender figures walked into the lounge at the same time.
Yu Mobai was somewhat surprised, "Why are you here too?"
Dong Yike didn't say anything, but sat down next to him with red eyes and held his hand tightly.
"What are you doing?"
Yu Mobai asked, somewhat puzzled, "Is your stomach upset?"
Dong Yike shook her head, biting her lip to stop herself from crying out loud.
