Chapter 51 Filial Piety Brings Strength (Please continue reading)

The atmosphere in the room was lively.

Many people were asking all sorts of questions, but the most frequent questions, besides about Yu Mobai getting into university, were about Mobai Supermarket.

Yu Mobai said a few simple words and received a lot of praise.

But he didn't care at all. Instead, he moved closer to Yu Wei's son and asked, "How did you do on your college entrance exam this year?"

"I.."

Yu Hai immediately turned to his mother for help.

"Of course your younger brother can't compare to you, his older brother."

Bi Hongyan said sourly, "Who told you to be so quick-witted? You've swindled a lot of money from people, haven't you?"

"Auntie, you can't say things like that carelessly."

Yu Mobai glanced at her with a grin, "What did I lie about? Even the TV station didn't say I lied, so why are you saying I cheated people out of money?"

Bi Hongyan pursed her lips and didn't continue speaking.

However, Yu Mobai did not let the topic go, "Auntie, I've heard that some colleges and vocational colleges are quite good, some are even better than third-tier universities. Why don't you let my little brother go to a vocational college?"

Bi Hongyan's expression changed slightly upon hearing this.

She glared fiercely at her son.

If it weren't for this good-for-nothing who didn't even get into university, she wouldn't have had to be bullied by a junior like Yu Mobai.

"Mo Bai, you don't know this."

The aunt standing nearby said, "The college near my house is a complete mess. I often see a man and a woman hugging and kissing at the school gate. The police go there frequently. Just a few days ago, they even caught a robber on campus!"

"Exactly, it's better to just go and get a job. Going to a vocational college is useless."

"Mo Bai, does your supermarket need any staff? Why don't you let Yu Hai work at your supermarket?"

These words made Bi Hongyan extremely upset.

What's the meaning?

So your own son can't go to university? He has to work at Mobai Supermarket instead?

Whom do you look down on?

“Our Yu Hai is quite successful; he even became the sports committee member before the college entrance exam. Mo Bai, have you ever been a class officer?”

Yu Mobai suppressed a laugh and shook his head. "No."

"You need to contribute to the class regularly. Look at you, you haven't even become a class officer in your three years of high school. What are you going to do in college? Do you hear me?"

Bi Hongyan seemed to be speaking earnestly, but her words were barbed.

"Yes, yes, after all, I always put my studies first."

Yu Mobai said, "Unlike my younger brother, who puts all his energy into being the sports committee member, he would rather give up his academic performance to contribute to the class. It must be because of Auntie's good teaching."

Laughter erupted around them. Bi Hongyan glared at Yu Mobai, then sullenly sat back down on the edge of the kang (heated brick bed) without saying a word.

Yu Mobai didn't mind. After chatting with the others for a few minutes, he went to the kitchen for a look.

Yu Jinsheng and Zheng Zhaoxia were busy preparing lunch in the kitchen.

"Grandma, didn't you get a new rice cooker? Why are you still using this one that's over ten years old?"

Yu Mobai pointed to the steaming rice cooker in the corner and said, "Where's the new one my mom brought you back last time?"

"Your uncle said this rice cooker can still be used after some repairs. His rice cooker was broken, so he took it back and used it first."

"I told you not to let Yu Wei take the things I brought back, but you wouldn't listen! He's already taken so much stuff!"

Yu Jinsheng frowned as he looked at the dark rice cooker and said, "This time he asked me to bring back an electric fan, saying the one at home was broken. Is that true?"

"An electric fan?"

Grandma thought for a moment and said, "Xiaowei took the electric fan from the house a long time ago."

"Took it?"

Yu Mobai sneered, "It's over 30 degrees Celsius inside and outside this house, and he just lets his mother suffer in this heat?"

"Sigh, I'm not hot either, let him use it if he wants."

Grandma is getting old and prefers to avoid trouble, so she says, "Never mind, never mind."

"That won't do."

Yu Mobai put down the vegetables he was holding, went outside, and carried an electric fan back into the house.

A group of people were drawn to his action and teased him, "Hey, Mo Bai, did you buy Grandma a new fan?"

"This room is really hot. The back window is blocked by a wall, so there's no breeze at all."

"Your grandma knows to buy a fan to cool you down when it gets hot; she didn't spoil you for nothing."

Bi Hongyan's eyes lit up when she saw the brand-new electric fan.

The old electric fan I brought back last time was not only overly stylish, but it also made a loud creaking noise that kept me awake at night.

Look at this one, it's definitely not a cheap one!

She gently nudged Yu Hai, signaling him to go and take a look.

"You see, everyone knows my milk can make you warm, but some people don't know that."

Yu Mobai raised an eyebrow as Yu Hai approached, saying, "Right, Yu Hai?"

Yu Hai blushed furiously and turned to leave, but Bi Hongyan insisted that he stay and watch the electric fan. He couldn't leave or stay, so he could only stand there dumbfounded with his head down.

"This electric fan looks very high-end."

The aunt, who was standing nearby, fiddled with it with great interest and said, "So many functions! It must have cost a lot of money, right?"

"That's right, my aunt never buys cheap things. This electric fan cost four hundred and fifty."

Yu Mobai replied with a grin.

"Huh? Your aunt wanted this?"

The aunt was surprised. Bi Hongyan was always so stingy, how could she afford such a nice electric fan?

"I didn't want it."

Upon hearing the price, Bi Hongyan was immediately startled.

"Grandma, didn't you say you were going to buy a new electric fan and use the old one to blow on Grandma's head?"

Yu Mobai gave a thumbs up, "Look at my aunt, she's even more filial than me. She even knew to get an electric fan for my grandma because of the heat. I never would have thought of that."
