Chapter Thirty: The Highest Level of Deception

"Actually, this was an activity that my family and his family did together."

Yu Mo rolled his eyes and began to lie, "Uncle Li put this refrigerator out there as a gimmick."

"A gimmick? What gimmick?"

The proprietress was completely taken aback and asked in a daze.

"Recharge your membership card at my store and you can enter a lucky draw to receive a gift."

Yu Mobai smiled and replied, "The current plan is to give away a bag of rice, a bag of flour, and a can of oil when you recharge 1,000 yuan, plus a chance to win a refrigerator in a lucky draw."

Being business people, the proprietress immediately understood his intentions and readily agreed, "No problem, I'll top up a thousand first. I usually buy things from your store anyway, so I'm getting a good deal this time."

"Thank you for your support, Sister Wang."

Yu Mobai turned and left, leaving Old Yu completely bewildered.

Didn't you just say you were trying to scam people out of money for flyers? Why did you leave?

"Hey, Mo Bai, you haven't finished yet. What kind of activity are Lao Li and your family working on together?"

Deeply aware of the recent business slump, the proprietress was not about to let Yu Mobai off the hook.

Besides, even Old Li next door, who's got a hundred cunning schemers, got involved, so it must be a profitable business!

There are so many refrigerators clearly displayed across the street, how could it be fake?

What businessperson wouldn't want to seize such an opportunity?

Yu Mobai curled the corners of his lips, but when he turned around, he pretended to let it slip, "Uncle Li told me not to say it, Sister Wang, please don't make things difficult for me."

The proprietress turned her gaze to Yu Jinsheng, who shook his head in perfect cooperation, "These were all researched by Mo Bai and Lao Li, I don't know the specifics."

The proprietress wasn't fooled by those few words; she was now convinced that these people were definitely up to something.

She brought over a few stools and placed them in front of the two of them. "Sit down, sit down, Mo Bai. Don't rush off. I've watched you grow up since you were little. Tell me the truth."

Yu Mobai sighed, "Alright then, Sister Wang, it's only because of you that I wouldn't say anything about others."

"Tell me quickly, what exactly happened?"

The proprietress urged them on.

Yu Mobai had no choice but to explain the plan in a low voice, "Uncle Li has already received the advertising fee. I will put an ad for the big store on the flyer, and there will be discounts when you use my family's membership card to buy appliances."

After finishing, he added a few more words, "Besides distributing flyers in the surrounding few kilometers, I also plan to distribute them at schools."

"School?"

The proprietress, who was already somewhat interested, lit up when she heard those two words. What does her family do? They sell stationery!

Who will buy it?

Students!

After hearing his plan, the proprietress herself felt the urge to try her luck at the lucky draw, which proves that the event is indeed attractive!

Moreover, once the supermarket across the street becomes popular, the resulting foot traffic will inevitably radiate towards this area, not to mention the promotional efforts at schools.

She glanced back and saw that the store was so big but there wasn't a single person in it. Rather than losing money every day, she decided to give it a try.

Humans are born to gamble; everyone has gambled to some extent.

For example, if you're wearing light clothing today, you might bet that it absolutely won't rain.

Or you could skip class today and bet the teacher won't call roll.

Seeing the landlady's delighted expression, Yu Mobai pretended not to notice and continued, "Uncle Li gave me two thousand yuan for printing flyers, which is why I agreed to let him participate in the event."

"Mo Bai, don't forget your sister when this good thing happens."

The proprietress slapped her thigh and exclaimed, "Can I join in on this event?"

"Huh? This..."

Yu Mobai seemed a little embarrassed, "Sister, I promised Uncle Li..."

"How about this, I'll also cover part of the cost of the flyers, is that alright with you?"

The proprietress thought for a moment, then pulled out two thousand yuan from behind the counter. "Two thousand for Lao Li, and two thousand for me too."

Yu Mobai hesitated for a moment, then nodded, "Okay then, sis, I'll reserve a good spot for you on the flyer, and you can get discounts and such when you bring my membership card."

"Okay, I trust you!"

The proprietress handed the money to Yu Mobai again, "It's three thousand in total, but I'll count it as a thousand for top-up."

"Okay, then I'll go and talk to Uncle Li. We're neighbors, after all. Cooperating together is the best way to achieve a win-win situation."

Yu Mobai said goodbye with a smile.

The proprietress watched the two of them walk straight into Old Li's supermarket before returning to her own shop, completely satisfied.

"Mo Bai, what brings you two here again?"

Old Li greeted him warmly. This was a big customer; dozens of refrigerators had been shipped out at once. Although he hadn't paid yet, it was only a matter of time.

"It's nothing, I just came from Sister Wang's place next door."

Yu Mobai waved the money in his hand, "Sister Wang insisted that I bring her to the event, and she even gave me two thousand yuan for printing flyers."

Old Li glanced over; he had indeed seen the two people come out from next door. A thought struck him. "What kind of event are you planning?"

...

As Yu Mobai left the appliance store, the amount of money in his hand had doubled.

Seeing that he had obtained four thousand yuan so easily, Yu Jinsheng could hardly believe it.

These are all business people. They're willing to hand over their money just because Yu Mobai has a way with words.

Moreover, Yu Mobai didn't mention asking for money at all; it was all given to him voluntarily!

Honest business practices don't work, so this is how you make money?

After careful consideration, Yu Jinsheng realized that, in addition to what everyone was familiar with, there was another reason that could have caused this: using someone else's strength against them.
