"Uncle Ji, Aunt Dong?"
Yu Mobai was dumbfounded when he opened the door.
To everyone's surprise, on the first day of the Lunar New Year, this family of four actually came to wish us a Happy New Year.
He glanced at Dong Yike and Ji Mushu behind him.
They noticed that the two people were spaced far apart and neither of them was paying attention to the other.
Dong Yike quietly raised her eyebrows at him and deliberately pursed her lips as if to kiss him.
"What, you're not planning to let us in?"
Ji Zhigang said in a cold voice.
"No, no."
Yu Mobai immediately turned to the side, "Come in, come in, I'll get you slippers."
The three people in front of us have already gone in.
Yu Mobai stopped Dong Yike, saying loudly, "Wait a minute, I'll find you some slippers."
Just as she bent down, she asked in a low voice, "Why are you here?"
"Uncle Ji said your grandma is here, and we're coming over to wish her a Happy New Year."
Dong Yike's bright white teeth shone through her beautiful eyes as she swept across the living room, wrinkling her little nose. "Looks like quite a few people came to wish us a Happy New Year this morning; the living room smells of smoke."
"Old Yu has learned to put on airs too. Isn't that infuriating?"
Yu Mobai chuckled and pulled out a pair of slippers. "But most people still have to give me face."
"Wouldn't your pride be enough to stop Sister Wooden Comb from being angry?"
Dong Yike walked in with a grin, and secretly bumped into Yu Mobai as she passed by, saying, "I can't hold my head up in front of Uncle Ji anymore."
Are you talking about yourself, or your mother?
Yu Mobai checked it again.
"Of course it's me."
After Dong Yike finished speaking, she ignored her and ran to the kitchen and living room to offer New Year's greetings.
"My mother has a lot of influence."
Grandma Wang and Ji Zhigang and Dong Muhong were already chatting on the sofa.
Grandma Wang grabbed Dong Muhong's hand and kept praising her for being beautiful.
"Aunt Wang, my daughter is already so big, please stop praising me."
What woman doesn't love to hear pleasant sounds? Even women in their forties or fifties love to listen to music.
"Yes, which one is your daughter?"
Ji Zhigang hadn't seen Wang Jingchun for a long time. Every year during the Spring Festival, he would buy some gifts and send them to Yu Jinsheng's house for him to take with him.
So the last time we met was probably seven or eight years ago.
"The one with the ponytail is my daughter."
Dong Muhong smiled.
"This girl is really pretty."
Grandma Wang smiled and said, "Little Ji, you must be very happy to have two such beautiful daughters in the family now, right?"
"So beautiful, so very beautiful."
Ji Zhigang nodded repeatedly.
"Old Ji, have some tea."
Yu Jinsheng brewed a pot of tea and brought it over, saying, "This tea is excellent; I can't even afford to sell this stuff in my supermarket."
"snort."
Ji Zhigang ignored him, but Grandma Wang was there, so he pretended to pick up the tea and smell it.
"These are all good things that Mo Bai brought back, I can't bear to drink them."
Yu Jinsheng added another sentence.
Ji Zhigang immediately put down his teacup. "What lousy tea! Go away! Get me a pot of what I usually drink."
"Hey, you old rascal, you don't even like good tea anymore."
Yu Jinsheng said bluntly.
"I don't like such good tea. I prefer something ordinary."
Ji Zhigang glanced at Yu Mobai and said meaningfully, "Go and get me a new pot, or I'm leaving right now."
"You've never tried it before. What if it tastes good and makes you feel tipsy?"
Yu Jinsheng said with a smile.
"Even if it tastes good, I can't afford it; it's too expensive."
Ji Zhigang shook his head. "Keep it for yourself, it's a gift from your son."
Yu Mobai leaned against the kitchen wall, looking at the people sitting on the sofa, and quietly turned to Zheng Zhaoxia to ask, "Mom, what's the relationship between my grandma and Uncle Ji?"
“Your grandma used to be the workshop director, and she was the one who brought Lao Ji up to the top.”
Zheng Zhaoxia was busy preparing food in the kitchen. "They will definitely stay for lunch today. Don't cause any trouble, you hear me? Your grandma is still here."
"Uncle Ji, can you stay for dinner?"
Yu Mobai clearly didn't believe it.
"Don't you know what kind of person your grandma is? He didn't want to stay, but he stayed anyway."
As expected, Zheng Zhaoxia's prediction was entirely accurate.
Ji Zhigang only stayed for about half an hour before deciding to get up and leave.
Grandma Wang grabbed Dong Muhong's hand, not letting her leave, "Xiao Ji, I haven't eaten with you yet, my new daughter-in-law. Have lunch before you go."
"Aunt Wang, we've already prepared the meal at home."
Ji Zhigang quickly shook his head; if it were before, he would never have planned to leave.
But now, he doesn't want his daughter to stay with that little rascal Yu Mobai for too long, even though the two of them haven't exchanged a single word yet.
"Next time, I'll come back for dinner when you come again."
Ji Zhigang was still making excuses.
"Xiao Dong, if Xiao Ji won't listen to me, will you listen to me?"
Grandma Wang then turned her attention to Dong Muhong, "So, do you want to stay for dinner or not?"
Dong Muhong gave a dry laugh, glanced at Ji Zhigang, and said with a smile, "Aunt Wang, I don't have the final say in our family."
"Why doesn't it count? Xiao Ji is a man who is afraid of his wife. You have to keep an eye on him."
Grandma Wang snorted and gestured for Dong Yike and Ji Mushu to sit down next to her. "I like these two children more and more the more I look at them. They are so beautiful. Their opinions don't count, but your opinions do. Are you two having dinner at Grandma's house today?"
Ji Mushu and Dong Yike glanced at each other, then simultaneously looked away.
Finally, after being warmly invited by Grandma Wang, I agreed.
