Chapter Fifteen: Dustless

"Huh?" Wei Wangqing suddenly had a flash of inspiration and thought of the Beggars' Sect. "Why don't you go and contact the beggars in the capital?"

Li Nuo was completely bewildered. A princess and a beggar? Li Nuo really couldn't follow Wei Wangqing's train of thought.

“Beggars roam the capital, mingling in various places. If we could connect them, wouldn’t that be a huge information network?” Wei Wangqing said excitedly.

Li Nuo's eyes lit up. That's right! How could he not have thought of that? His Highness truly is His Highness! Li Nuo exclaimed.

However, His Highness is busy assembling manpower and building up his power base. He's clearly still striving for that position!

I can't hold His Highness back! Li Nuo was suddenly filled with boundless passion again.

What a wonderful misunderstanding!

"Yes, Your Highness, I will immediately contact the beggars in the capital and will certainly not disappoint you." Li Nuo clasped his hands in greeting.

Wei Wangqing didn't know why his subordinates were so passionate, but he still said with affection, "Yes, go."

Wei Wangqing stayed by himself for a while longer.

After dinner, I suddenly remembered Wuchen and wondered how he was doing, so I asked someone to lead me to the pavilion.

When Wei Wangqing saw the Buddhist scriptures and pen on the table, he wondered if Wei Wangqing had been copying Buddhist scriptures day and night.

You two are clearly evenly matched; you also read and write every day. Tch!

"Your Highness?"

"Hmm." Wei Wangqing was still stunned when he suddenly turned around. With the eye covering his forehead, Wuchen no longer had that contradictory feeling of being both immortal and demon, but only had the appearance of an immortal. And the blue cloth strip on his forehead added a bit of heroic spirit to him.

Wei Wangqing immediately felt that it was a disservice to keep such a beautiful person confined in his courtyard.

"How have you been lately?" Wei Wangqing asked first, not forgetting how taciturn this man was.

"It's all good, thank you, Your Highness." The days have indeed been good lately, making him feel as if he has returned to his life in the temple, as if nothing had happened.

"Okay, that's good. What are your plans for the future?"

Seeing Wuchen's puzzled expression, Wei Wangqing couldn't help but tease, "What? You want me to support you for the rest of your life?"

Wuchen blushed deeply. "I didn't mean that. I just..." He thought that His Highness had bought him back and that he was His Highness's person now. Did His Highness not mean that?

"It's nothing, I was just teasing you. I just wanted to ask what you wanted to do instead of staying in the mansion all the time. I didn't mean to confine you."

Wuchen was at a loss for words; he had never thought about these things before, nor had anyone taught him.

When I was little, I spent my time in temples eating vegetarian food and chanting scriptures. Later... later I was always on the run. Even living became a luxury. How could I think about the future? This period has been a rare moment of peace!

Are we going to lose even this peace now? Are we going back to those days of being hunted, sold, and starving?

Wei Wangqing noticed that Wuchen seemed a little off and nudged him, asking, "Are you alright? Why do you look so pale?"

Wuchen snapped out of his daze. "Are you trying to kick me out?"

Wei Wangqing was speechless at his pitiful look. His behavior made Wei Wangqing feel like a heartless man, or rather, a heartless woman!

"No, when did I say such a thing?" Wei Wangqing couldn't help but rub his forehead.

“Just now,” Wuchen accused.

Sigh! Wei Wangqing sighed deeply, feeling a little soft-hearted seeing him like this, wondering what he had been thinking about.

He could only say gently, "No, that's not true. I was just asking if you wanted to learn anything so you wouldn't be bored and would have something to do." To avoid him misunderstanding again, he added, "Of course, I'll be learning in the manor."

So that's how it is! Wuchen blushed a little, realizing he had misunderstood.

But he didn't know what "learning" meant, nor did he know what he was capable of. Wouldn't it be better for him to just stay in the mansion and chant scriptures?

Seeing Wuchen's puzzled expression, Wei Wangqing could only say, "You can consider studying literature, martial arts, or business. After all, aren't you from the Southern Dynasty? You won't care about showing your face in public. Of course, this is just a general guideline, or other options are also fine." Wei Wangqing felt as if he had raised a son.

Is she looking down on herself for being from the Southern Dynasty?

But Wuchen had no interest in any of what she said, nor did he want to learn it.

"You make the arrangements!" Wuchen could only say, afraid that she would be unhappy and send him away.

"It's not my arrangement; it depends on what you like and what you want to do," Wei Wangqing said wearily.

“I only like chanting scriptures,” Wuchen said, looking into her eyes.

“Alright,” Wei Wangqing conceded.

Suddenly, a thought struck him: "How about I have someone find you more Buddhist scriptures, and you can spread the word in the future?"

Wuchen had an "I knew it" look on his face. "You still want to send me away."

Sigh, whatever. Wei Wangqing was too lazy to care anymore. "You can do whatever you want. I can have someone find you more books to read. That's all, I'm leaving now."

Wuchen became even more uneasy; she seemed to be angry.

The next day, Wuchen looked at the two boxes of books delivered by the housekeeper and was even more at a loss.

So he simply asked the housekeeper, "Where is she?"

"Who is it?" The butler was completely confused. Oh, he must be talking about His Highness.

He replied, "His Highness is reading in the room and has not come out."

This person even boasts about herself, saying she hasn't learned anything either. Humph! It's a double standard: officials are allowed to set fires, but commoners are forbidden even to light lamps.

Wuchen stopped caring and simply started reading a book in the room.

The butler, on the other hand, looked completely bewildered.

I used to think His Highness had finally seen the light, but now it seems they're just two bookworms!

They're all engrossed in their books, unmoved even by beautiful women before them. Sigh!

His Highness is even better; he's sent two more boxes of books. His Highness isn't young anymore! The steward is truly worried!

Butler, Wei Wangqing will beat you up if he knows what you're thinking. He's still just a little baby!

Until this day, the Fourth Princess came directly to the mansion.

The steward was so worried that several strands of his hair turned white. He hoped that the Fourth Princess could help his prince to understand things, but he was also afraid that the Fourth Princess's flirtatious nature would lead his prince to become obsessed with men.

Despite his many worries, the steward could only greet the fourth princess with a smile.

"Please wait a moment, Fourth Princess. This old servant will go and inform His Highness immediately."

The fourth princess hummed indifferently, her eyes darting around.

Ever since their last parting, the Fourth Princess had been thinking about Wei Wangqing. It was a rare treat to finally meet someone who shared her interests. Moreover, she wasn't someone who had gotten close to her because of her status; they were practically sisters, so it was only natural to feel a little closer to her.

Therefore, Wei Qingye came directly to the mansion, intending to take his sixth sister to a nice place and broaden her horizons.
