Chapter Seventy-Six Refusal

Zhang Tongyang rallied his spirits and walked towards the two men.

"Did the Sixth Princess send you?"

The two nodded.

"Why did you come along?" Zhang Tongyang thought smugly, "Could it be that you regretted it and want to take him back?"

"Find an inn for the young master to stay at."

It felt like a bucket of cold water had been poured over his head. He should have known better. Humph, this woman has no heart at all!

The two servants watched as the young master's expression instantly changed from sunny to gloomy, but they could only bite the bullet and say, "Why don't you come with us, young master? The treatment at Yingfeng Inn is excellent."

"Okay." Zhang Tongyang agreed even though he was unwilling. At least this woman had some conscience and didn't abandon him on this unfamiliar street.

Hmph! He'll settle the score with her tomorrow!

The next morning, Zhang Tongyang went to the Sixth Princess's residence to find Wei Wangqing.

However, they were told that the person was not at home and had not returned from the morning court session.

Zhang Tongyang then truly realized that she was different from the women of their Southern Dynasty; she was a princess who was to attend court.

He was just abusing his father's position to do whatever he wanted, and it seemed that only now did he understand what she meant by "a child who hasn't grown up."

So they came full of excitement, but left dejectedly.

After returning home from court, Wei Wangqing heard the steward mention that Zhang Tongyang had come and gone, but he didn't take it seriously. This man was just impulsive.

Not long after, Prince An came to visit.

Upon returning yesterday, Wei Wangqing ordered someone to deliver Nan Xiangyue's belongings to Prince An's residence, but he did not go in person this time, also to avoid suspicion.

I never expected that Prince An would come to visit me in person.

"I am truly grateful to the Sixth Princess this time."

“Your Highness, there’s no need for thanks. This is as good as hot pancakes to me.”

"Sixth Princess, I want to know how my daughter is doing?" I've only seen it in a letter, not with my own eyes, so I'm still a little worried.

Although she was confident in her judgment of people, this was, after all, a matter of her daughter's lifelong happiness, and she could not afford to be careless or allow any mishaps.

Especially when the other party has become the ruler of a country, if something happens to her daughter, she, as the mother, is afraid that she will be powerless to help.

Fortunately, my daughter is pregnant, which provides a layer of protection.

Moreover, the fact that they sent a letter so quickly after their daughter became pregnant shows that they must have valued their daughter very much.

Even if it's just for the sake of the children.

Wei Wangqing thought the mother and daughter were quite similar. "She is doing very well. At least that's how it seems to me. The Southern Emperor treats her like a treasure, afraid that she might be unhappy in the slightest. Prince An can rest assured. However, she is also very concerned about Prince An and the Princess."

"Okay, I'm relieved as long as she's doing well." As for missing her, how could she not miss her? But there's nothing she can do about it.

"And regarding Rong'er's matter, I must also thank the Sixth Princess for her guidance."

Wei Wangqing was startled. Did Prince An find out?

Wei Wangqing couldn't help but feel a little guilty, after all, it seemed that she was the one who had hurt someone else's son.

Prince An found the Sixth Princess's expression somewhat amusing. His son had good taste; he hadn't fallen for the wrong person, what a pity...

"Sixth Princess, there's no need for that. Rong'er is doing very well now, and I'm happy that he has his own ideas about joining the army."

"Thank you for your understanding, Prince An." Prince An is indeed a very reasonable person; after all, few people can refrain from taking their anger out on others in such matters.

"Your Highness and Young Master Chen must be getting married soon."

"Yes." Wei Wangqing's expression softened as he thought of Chen Zhiyan.

Seeing this, Prince An felt even more sorry for her son. In her opinion, the sixth princess was a devoted woman, no less so than Nan Lin.

Unfortunately, my son was too late.

"Alright, then I won't attend on the day. I'll send the gift in advance."

"You're too kind, Prince An."

Having achieved his purpose, Prince An left without lingering any longer.

Wei Wangqing thought it was time to start preparing the betrothal gifts.

He ordered someone to summon the steward.

"What are your orders, Your Highness?"

"You should reorganize the assets under my name and prepare to present a betrothal gift to the Chen family."

"What specifications would Your Highness like to prepare?"

What specifications? Of course, the best, since this is a once-in-a-lifetime marriage.

"The highest."

The steward knew perfectly well that the future lord held a high position in His Highness's heart.

"No, that's not right." No, she had to make everyone envious of Chen Zhiyan, to let everyone know how satisfied she was with him.

Think back to your own fantasies, who wouldn't want to make a grand entrance on their wedding day?

Is Your Highness having second thoughts?

"Higher than the highest, well, just a little lower than the Empress Dowager, you decide." If it's higher than the Empress Dowager, she's afraid her mother won't stand for it.

The housekeeper was shocked. What was she supposed to do about this?

This is more than just a lot of food; it's probably going to empty out the entire Sixth Princess's residence!

The steward felt this task was really difficult.

But no matter what, it still has to be done.

Over there, Zhang Tongyang finally couldn't resist and went to find Wei Wangqing.

"Brother Wei, what do you mean by this? You're just leaving me at the inn and ignoring me? You promised to personally receive me when I came to the Northern Dynasty!"

Wei Wangqing recalled that he didn't seem to have agreed back then, thank goodness.

"I didn't agree to that, but I do want to do my part as a host."

"How about this, I'll have Wu Changming accompany you. Since you're both men, you'll have something to talk about."

Zhang Tongyang was furious. "Who told him to accompany me? I only want you to accompany me!"

The meaning was so clear that Wei Wangqing could no longer take it as a joke.
