Chapter Sixty-One: The Person in the Painting

Because it was actually him that was drawn on it!

The man in the painting is dressed in white, with eyebrows like distant mountains and eyes full of affection, gazing at something unknown.

Her long, black hair was tied up high with a jade hairpin, with a few loose strands fluttering in the wind. Her extraordinary temperament seemed to leap off the page from a painting, captivating the viewer.

Chen Zhiyan was amazed by her painting skills, but also ashamed that she thought he was like this in her eyes.

Such beauty, captured in just a few strokes of this painting, sketches out an unparalleled beauty.

Wei Wangqing felt a little nervous seeing that he remained silent for a long time, after all, this was the first time she had given him a gift.

Do you like it?

Chen Zhiyan looked at His Highness asking him cautiously, as if afraid that he wouldn't like it, and laughed out loud, "I like it, I like it very much, I like it very much."

Wei Wangqing thought that he used the word "like" three times, so he must really like it. She was really amazing that her fiancé liked the gift so much on the first time she gave it to him.

He smiled and said, "If you like it, I'll draw it for you again later."

Chen Zhiyan smiled even more happily; she was so wonderful, she didn't want others to know what she was doing.

"good."

Looking at Chen Zhiyan's eyes, which seemed to be moistened with water, and his captivating smile, Wei Wangqing felt that she had more material for her next painting.

How can someone be so beautiful, so to my liking? I don't want anyone else to see her!

Chen Zhiyan was extremely embarrassed upon hearing this. Even if His Highness liked him because of his appearance, he didn't care. At least he still had a place worth His Highness staying for.

But when Wei Wangqing saw the blush on this man's face, he felt as if a trace of blood had appeared in a piece of unpolished jade, which was even more captivating and mesmerizing, and made him want to hide him away.

Upon seeing this, Chen Zhiyan said, "Your Highness, I will treasure this painting." The implication was that he would never let anyone see it.

He didn't want others to see how good His Highness was!

That way, no one will compete with him for the prince's place, and the prince will belong to him alone.

Whether Wei Wangqing understood or not, he simply said, "Hmm."

The two looked at each other in silence for a moment.

Chen Zhiyan carefully rolled up the painting and put it into his sleeve.

By this time, it was completely dark, and the last glimmer of light had long since disappeared into the foot of the mountain.

The sounds of vendors hawking their wares gradually drifted up from the riverbank, creating a lively atmosphere.

"Take us back," Wei Wangqing said to the boatman.

The two disembarked and disappeared into the crowd. The streets were lined with all kinds of lanterns, a dazzling array that illuminated the entire street.

The crowd was filled with both men and women, and on this day, the strict separation of men and women didn't seem so important.

Many unmarried men and women also made plans to visit the lantern festival together.

Seeing the smiles on everyone's faces, Wei Wangqing glanced at the people around him and couldn't help but grin foolishly.

I heard a vendor nearby calling out, "Miss, sir, come and buy a lantern!"

Wei Wangqing led Chen Zhiyan over.

Looking at the riddles above, I realized I didn't have the talent to solve them.

Seeing the customer looking at the lanterns, the vendor said, "Miss, you can take any of these lanterns as long as you solve the riddle. If you solve all the riddles, you can get that one." He pointed to the largest and most ornate lantern.

"That's the stall's prized possession."

Wei Wangqing found the vendor quite interesting, even considering him the stall's prized possession.

However, Wei Wangqing was not interested in that lantern king. One reason was that she didn't think it was very pretty, and the other was that she couldn't guess it!

She knew she didn't have the ability to guess all the riddles; one or two might be manageable. All of them? Forget it.

but……

"Young Master Chen, would you like that lantern?" She could buy it if he wanted it.

Chen Zhiyan shook his head. He wasn't interested in the biggest or best lantern; he only wanted the one he wanted most.

Pointing to a simple and elegant little lantern, its four sides carved with unidentified openwork flowers, it had a unique charm.

"I want that." She said, looking at Wei Wangqing.

Since her fiancé had already proposed, how could Wei Wangqing refuse?

Moreover, she also felt that her fiancé had excellent taste.

Wei Wangqing stepped forward and looked at the words written on it: "Shrimp play in the streams on all sides."

After thinking for a while, Wei Wangqing picked up his pen and wrote.

Luckily I guessed it, otherwise I would have been so embarrassed in front of my fiancé.

Chen Zhiyan couldn't help but smile.

The vendor picked up the paper, which had the character '思' (si, meaning 'think') written on it. He said, "Congratulations to this customer for answering correctly. '四面山溪' (Si Mian Shan Xi, meaning 'four sides of mountain streams') is composed of four '山' (shan, meaning 'mountain') characters forming the character '田' (tian, meaning 'field'). The shape of the '虾' (xia, meaning 'shrimp') resembles a reclining hook. '戏水' (xi shui, meaning 'playing in the water') indicates that there are several drops of water around the reclining hook. Together, they form the character '思' (si, meaning 'think'). Here's your lantern."

Wei Wangqing took the lantern and was about to hand it to Chen Zhiyan.

"etc."

Chen Zhiyan walked to a lantern, wrote down the answer, picked up the lantern, and walked to Wei Wangqing.

The movements were executed in one smooth motion, flowing like clouds and water without any pause.

Wei Wangqing couldn't help but sigh, looking at others and then at himself.

It's so difficult to even solve a simple riddle.

"Here, take this." He then took the lantern from his own hand and handed it to him.

So, this is an exchange of lanterns?

I never thought I'd be receiving a lantern as a gift! Wei Wangqing thought to himself with delight.

Seeing her silly grin, Chen Zhiyan couldn't help but laugh along.

Seeing the two people smiling at each other in a beautiful scene, the vendor couldn't smile.

She had to pay for two lanterns and watch the two men chatting and laughing and talking about love in front of her. The vendor felt extremely upset.
