Chapter 111: Mecha Wreckage 2

Chapter 111: Mecha Wreckage 2

Amidst the sound of gasps, the ceiling light in the lounge was turned to the dimmest warm light.

It casts a hazy glow, enveloping the bed in soft light and shadow.

Lin Yao lay on his side with his back pressed against Ye Heng's chest. He could clearly feel his steady heartbeat and the arms around him.

It wasn't tight, but it held a force that made it impossible to break free, as if afraid that the person would disappear if he let go.

The quilt was new, as light as a cloud, yet it kept me warm all over.

Lin Yao moved his fingertips and touched Ye Heng's hand on his abdomen.

There were thin calluses on his fingertips from years of holding guns, which made his skin a little itchy.

He gently turned his hand back and held the hand, his fingertips unconsciously rubbing his knuckles.

"When do you plan to go to Black Crow Star?" Lin Yao's voice was very soft.

With a hint of hoarseness from just relaxing, the ending tone almost melted into the warmth of the quilt.

Ye Heng kissed the back of his shoulder with his chin, and his breath brushed against the side of his neck, bringing a slightly itchy warmth.

"I've asked Ye Mang to change his route." His voice was muffled in Lin Yao's hair.

"I guess the Shadow's course has been adjusted and it's heading towards Black Crow Star."

Lin Yao was slightly startled, and when he turned his head, the tip of his nose touched Ye Heng's cheek.

"When did you send it? Why were you so quick?"

Aren't they always fighting in the goblin world? How did Ye Heng do it?

"When we were on the sofa," Ye Heng pointed over there, "Ye Mang replied 'Got it'."

"It's better to go early." Ye Heng said as he tightened his arms around him and completely held him in his arms.

Lin Yao could feel his cheek against his ear and his breathing steady, as if a heavy burden had been lifted from his body.

The lounge was very quiet for a while, with only the breeze from the vents.

There was also the overlapping heartbeats of the two people, beating out a slow rhythm in the warm light.

"Wait until you get the things," Ye Heng's voice came softly, a little sleepy, but very clear.

"Let's go back to the Red Shadow Base."

Lin Yao hummed, patted his arm, and said, "Get some sleep. We'll be busy again when we get to Black Crow Star."

Ye Heng didn't say anything else, his breathing gradually became heavier, but the hand around him still didn't relax.

Accompanied by Ye Heng's breathing, Lin Yao also fell into a deep sleep.

The warm light from the lounge cast shadows on the quilt.

Lin Yao was awakened by a knock on the door. The sound was very light.

But it carried a persistent rhythm, knock, knock, knock, and each beat echoed in the silence of the room.

He moved, and the chest against which his back was pressed tensed.

Ye Heng took a deep breath, rubbed his head on the pillow, loosened his arms around Lin Yao, and muttered something in a hoarse voice.

He propped himself up with his arms and sat up, the quilt sliding down to reveal his well-defined shoulders and back.

"I guess something happened." Lin Yao rubbed his eyes, his fingertips still showing fatigue.

The knocking continued, a little heavier than before.

Ye Heng grabbed the robe beside the bed and put it on. After tidying himself up, he walked to the door and opened it: "What's the matter?"

Standing outside the door was Ye Mang, wearing a neat combat uniform, with the star patterns on his epaulettes shining.

Seeing that the door was only a crack open, he lowered his head tactfully:

"Marshal, I just sent you a message but you didn't reply. I thought you might still be resting.

But we still have half an hour to reach Black Crow Star's atmosphere, and the route needs final confirmation."

Ye Heng's eyebrows twitched, and then he remembered that he had turned the communicator to silent mode.

He moved sideways to block the way. "Follow the previous covert route, avoid the main channel, and go directly to the abandoned starport."

"Yes!" Ye Mang responded straightforwardly, took a half step back and prepared to get ready.

"Yeah." Ye Heng responded, and waited until Ye Mang's footsteps disappeared in the corridor before closing the door.

When I turned around, I saw Lin Yao putting his coat on, but the buttons on the collar were in the wrong place.

He walked over and helped Lin Yao unbutton his clothes.

The fingertips rubbed the skin on the side of his neck, and the itchy feeling made Lin Yao shiver.

Lin Yao slapped his hand away, buttoned her clothes herself, and when she looked up, there was a hint of anger in her eyes.

Ye Heng chuckled softly, leaned over and pecked the corner of his mouth, running his fingertips through his messy hair: "Wash up, we're going to Black Crow Star."

-

The Shadow's landing gear scraped harshly against the metal floor of the abandoned starport, raising a cloud of rust-colored dust.

The hatch slowly lowered, and Ye Mang and Lin Yue were the first to walk down the gangway.

The combat boots made a dull sound as they stepped on the uneven ground.

Ye Heng and Lin Yao walked in the middle, their eyes scanning the surroundings.

"This way." A hoarse voice came from the shadow of the warehouse on the right.

Lin Yao looked in the direction of the sound and saw several men in work clothes walking out from the shadows.

The leader was a burly man with a scar running diagonally across his left cheek from his brow to his jaw. It was the same scar from the knife that had attacked and scratched him.

At this moment, he was no longer wearing the black suit he wore before, but a washed-out work jacket.

He held a knife in his hand, and the scar was clearly visible in the gloomy light, but it no longer had the original ferocity.

Scar's eyes first fell on Ye Heng, and he nodded slightly perfunctorily as a greeting.

Then he turned to Lin Yao, and a smile that was not natural appeared on the corner of his mouth: "Major General Lin, long time no see."

Lin Yao's fingertips moved almost imperceptibly.

When Scar threatened him, he was full of ruthlessness and cruelty, but now he looked a little out of place.

"Long time no see." He replied calmly, his eyes passing over the few people behind Scar.

"I'm so sorry for offending you last time." Scar scratched his head and spoke in a lower voice than before.

"I'm just following orders. Major General Lin, how have you been lately?"

The question sounded like an old friend greeting each other. Lin Yao was stunned for a moment before nodding: "Not bad."

Ye Heng watched from the side, his eyebrows slightly raised, but he said nothing.

He knew about the feud between Lin Yao and Scar, but Scar's attitude at this moment was obviously deliberately relaxed, which was obviously because Lin Ruheng had given him a heads-up.

Scar seemed to find this greeting a bit awkward. He coughed dryly, turned around, and raised his chin towards the depths of the warehouse.

"The things the boss ordered are inside. I'll take you there."

He took a step forward, and his work boots made a "crunching" sound on the broken glass.

Ye Heng and Lin Yao followed his footsteps.

The guards behind him dispersed tacitly, guarding the entrances to the warehouse, with their guns pointed concealedly at the shadows.

The warehouse was darker than outside, with only a few scattered lights coming in through a few holes in the ceiling, illuminating the mountains of discarded parts.

Scar stopped in front of a rusty metal door, took out a remote control from his pocket and pressed it.

The sound of hydraulic pipes starting up was heard from behind the door, and the heavy iron door slowly slid open to both sides.

The space behind the door was unexpectedly tidy. An emergency light hung from the ceiling, emitting a dim light that illuminated the huge object covered with dust cloth in the center.

The outline can be vaguely seen to be a cylindrical shape, about three meters high. There is a thin layer of dust on the dustproof cloth, which obviously has been there for some time.

"It's right here." Scar pointed at the item, "The boss said everything you want is in there."

Lin Yao walked forward and reached out to lift a corner of the dust cloth, revealing what was indeed the storage device from the auction.

Lin Yao's fingertips gently slid across the metal shell, and he could feel the faint energy fluctuations coming from within. "How do I open it?" he asked.

Scar took out a palm-sized controller from his pocket and pressed the green button on it.

With a slight "hum" sound, the upper part of the cylindrical device slowly rose, revealing the scene inside.

A layer of transparent energy shield wrapped around the remains of a mecha, suspended in a light blue buffer.

The shape of the mecha can be vaguely seen in the outline, and the Zerg traces on the edge of the wings appear particularly clear under the refraction of the energy shield.

"You need to unlock the energy shield yourself. The boss said you can open it." Scar handed over the controller.

"This is the storage device's operator. Except for unlocking the energy shield, all other functions are usable."

Ye Heng took the controller and tapped the button lightly with his fingertips.

The saved data of the mecha wreckage immediately popped up on the controller's electronic screen: humidity 60%, temperature 18°C, and energy shield strength 80%.

Lin Yao looked up at Scar: "Boss, do you have anything else to tell me?"

"It's gone." Scar shook his head. "He just told us to guard it until you come and get it. He said you'll know what to do after you see it."

He paused, then added, "We have patrols outside the starport. If you want to go through the main channel, I can grant you temporary passage."

Ye Heng walked over to the wreckage of the mecha and tapped on the cockpit door with his fingers. The metal echoed hollowly. "No need."

Without turning around, he said, "We have our own routes."

Scar wisely didn't ask any more questions and winked at the person behind him: "Then we'll go out first. If you need anything... just give me a shout."

After saying that, he led his men out of the warehouse quietly. The iron door slowly closed behind them, blocking out all the noise from outside.

Only Ye Heng and Lin Yao were left in the warehouse, and the light from the emergency lights cast shadows on the wreckage of the mecha.

Lin Yao walked to the cockpit and tried to press the door switch, but there was no response.

"We need to find tools to pry it open." He turned to Ye Heng and said.

Ye Heng turned and looked at the toolbox in the corner of the warehouse. "Let's pry it open. Let's see what the Third Prince has hidden in there."

The emergency light was still dim, illuminating the figures of the two people.

Lin Yao picked up the crowbar from the toolbox and walked to the cockpit.

The sound of metal colliding with metal echoed in the empty warehouse, as if questioning a buried past.
