Chapter 79 Star Pirates
After receiving the news, the rescue team of the Red Shadow Legion rushed to the waterway between the Sphenoid Bone Galaxy and the Black Crow Star Region as quickly as possible.
The roar of the starship engine pierced the silent universe, and the searchlights swept among the floating stardust and asteroids, each beam of light carrying anxious expectations.
When they arrived at the scene, the scene before them made everyone feel depressed.
The once intact command ship was long gone, replaced by the wreckage of starships scattered along the channel.
The broken hull, twisted metal plates, and unburned energy residues glowed coldly in the dark universe.
"Expand the search range! Check every piece of wreckage carefully!" The voice of the rescue team captain echoed in the command cabin with unquestionable determination.
The team members operated the robotic arm and detector to clear the floating debris bit by bit.
Not long after, the detector issued a rapid prompt sound - three escape pods were discovered one after another.
"Report! Escape pod found! The pod is intact and there are signs of life!"
When the escape pod was docked to the rescue ship and the hatch slowly opened, everyone held their breath.
Xu Li and Zhao Kun came out first. Their uniforms were stained with oil and blood, and their faces were filled with fatigue and despair.
Seeing the rescue team, Xu Li stumbled over, grabbed their arms and roared, "Where's Major General Lin? Is he with you?"
Zhao Kun slumped on the ground, staring blankly at the wreckage outside the window, muttering over and over again, "We were useless... We failed to protect him..."
The accompanying soldiers also came out of the other two escape pods one after another. Some were injured and were urgently treated by medical soldiers.
But more people just stood there silently, staring at the broken hulls, as if trying to find a familiar figure inside.
The rescue operation lasted for a full six hours, and all detectable areas were searched repeatedly.
Apart from these three escape pods and the wreckage scattered all over the ground, no other valuable discoveries were made.
Until the detector captured a trace of special energy residue on a larger piece of debris, which was the residual energy of Shasha.
The team members immediately gathered around and carefully cleaned off the attachments on the debris.
The wreckage was about one person tall, with the special alloy pattern of the escape pod still visible on its edge, but it had been torn into pieces by the huge impact force, and there were still some dark red marks on it.
"Adjutant Xu, this seems to be..." A team member's voice trembled as he pointed to the serial number on the inside of the debris. "It's the wreckage of Major General Lin's escape pod."
Xu Li rushed forward and grabbed the cold metal tightly with both hands, his knuckles turning white from the force.
He stroked the lines over and over again, as if trying to find evidence to refute the claim, but in the end he could only lower his head helplessly, his shoulders shaking violently.
When Zhao Kun saw the wreckage, his legs went weak and he knelt on the ground, tears finally rolling down his cheeks.
Two images instantly flashed in his mind.
One was when the battle was at its most intense, Lin Yao shouted over the noise in the tactical channel, "Zhao Kun, take Xu Li to escape pod number three, leave immediately."
At that time, the alarm of the command ship was so piercing that it made people's scalps numb, but Lin Yao's voice was as steady as a reef.
The other was when Ye Heng called him and Xu Li to his office before leaving. His dark green eyes were filled with seriousness as he patted his shoulder and warned:
"Lin Yao has a stubborn temper, so you guys should keep a close eye on him. Even if he loses a hair, I'll ask you guys when I come back."
"We promised the Marshal..." Zhao Kun wiped his face with his sleeve, but the more he wiped, the more tears flowed, mixing with the oil on his face and forming black marks.
"We promised him..."
He remembered that he had patted his chest and promised that he would not let anything happen to Major General Lin even if it cost him his life.
But now, they came back alive, but left the man who always said everything was fine in a star field full of debris.
The piece of escape pod debris with dark red marks on it was like a blunt knife, repeatedly cutting his heart.
Xu Li walked over and reached out to pull him up, but just as his fingertips touched his arm, he staggered.
He recalled the last look Ye Heng gave him before boarding the plane. Although the banquet he was about to attend was extremely dangerous, his eyes were full of concern for Lin Yao.
If the marshal knew that they had lost someone, what kind of anger would burn in his eyes?
Or maybe... even worse than anger is despair.
"Stop talking." Xu Li's voice was as hoarse as rusty iron. He turned his head and stared at the wreckage. "As long as no one is found, it's not over."
But he couldn't even fool himself.
They knew better than anyone how strong the alloy of the escape pod was. The fact that it could be broken into pieces like this required one to imagine the impact.
Zhao Kun covered his face, and his suppressed sobs were particularly clear in the silent cabin, like a taut string that was about to break at any time.
Among the accompanying soldiers, someone whispered, "Major General Lin will be fine," but no one responded.
Everyone remembered that it was Lin Yao who activated the overloaded defense shield, and it was Lin Yao who provided them with the last chance of survival amidst the pirates' artillery fire.
The rescue team leader looked at the wreckage, then at the surrounding debris, took a deep breath, and reported solemnly into the communicator:
"Reporting to headquarters, we've found the wreckage of the command ship and three escape pods. The crew are Xu Li, Zhao Kun, and their accompanying soldiers...
No trace of Major General Lin Yao has been found, but the wreckage of his escape capsule is suspected to have been found. The specific situation requires further identification."
There was silence on the other end of the communicator for a moment, and then the base commander's voice, suppressed with grief, came: "Collect the troops, take the wreckage and personnel back."
The rescue ship's engine made a dull roar, dragging those broken memories along with it, slowly sailing away from this hopeless place.
Zhao Kun was still kneeling on the ground, looking at the accident site outside the porthole which was getting smaller and smaller, repeating Ye Heng's instructions in his heart.
He didn't know how to face Ye Heng.
The universe is boundless, and the lights of the rescue ship move forward in the darkness, carrying the scarred survivors, as well as heavy worries and faint hopes, heading home.
Lin Yao's whereabouts remain a mystery without an answer.
—
The Star Devouring Cave, the base camp of star pirates.
Lin Yao was lying in the treatment cabin, with light green nutrient solution flowing over his neck and an oxygen mask covering his mouth and nose. Every breath he took carried the unique fishy and sweet smell of the nutrient solution.
The metal walls on the outside of the cabin were covered with rusty dents, as if they had been corroded by strong acid.
Compared with the sleek new medical equipment at the Red Shadow Base, this treatment cabin looks more like a defective product removed from a scrapped starship.
His consciousness was still in chaos, and his eyelids felt heavy as if they were weighed down by lead.
The remaining fragments of memory collided in his mind: the moment when the pirate ship's laser beam penetrated the escape pod's shield, the stinging pain of the murderous vines growing wildly and wrapping around his wrist, and the roar that exploded in his ears when he was thrown into the air by the huge impact force.
“Ding Di——”
The monitor in the treatment cabin issued a harsh beep, and Lin Yao's fingers suddenly moved.
Through the translucent cabin wall, you can see the vine mark on his wrist, which is a faint ice blue, flickering like a dying firefly.
"woke up?"
A hoarse voice sounded outside the cabin, with a texture like metallic friction.
Lin Yao struggled to open his eyes, and a tall figure appeared in his blurry vision.
The man was wearing greasy leather boots and had a serrated short knife on his trouser leg. A string of dried finger bones hung from the scabbard.
The leader of the Broken Claws pirates, nicknamed Scar.
Lin Yao's pupils suddenly contracted, and the remaining sleepiness disappeared in an instant.
He had seen this person before. He was the leader of the group of pirates who stole the wreckage of the mecha from the Jiuchen Auction House.
Although the man covered his face at the time, the scar left a deep impression on Lin Yao.
He tried to struggle to sit up, but found that his limbs were firmly fixed by the straps in the nutrient solution. The slightest movement caused a tightening pain in his wrists.
"Don't waste your energy." Scar squatted down and knocked on the bulkhead with his metal-covered fingers.
"Your escape pod was completely blown up. You're lucky to be alive."
His eyes swept over the healing wound on Lin Yao's neck, which was scratched by the escape pod fragments, and then fell on the monitor screen, and a cruel smile appeared on the corner of his mouth:
"The mental strength of a 3S+ guide is truly different. You can still hold on even in this state. No wonder Ye Heng treats you like a treasure."
Lin Yao's heart suddenly sank.
They knew Ye Heng, and he might even have been targeting them from the beginning.
"What do you want to do?" His voice came through the oxygen mask, carrying the damp and cold sound of nutrient solution.
Scar laughed out loud as if he had heard a joke, his finger bones jingling as he moved.
"What for? Of course, I want to exchange you for something good. A major general of the Red Shadow Army, and also Ye Heng's partner, that's a lot of money."
He leaned closer to the bulkhead, lowered his voice, and spoke with venom in his tone:
"I heard the Lin family's banquet is about to begin? Perfect! I'll send your head over as a gift. Do you think Ye Heng will go crazy right then and there?"
Lin Yao clenched his fingertips suddenly, and his nails dug deep into his palms.
The nutrient solution in the treatment chamber began to ripple. He could feel Shasha screaming wildly, and golden-red lines moved under his skin, as if looking for a way to escape.
"Don't be so quick to get angry."
Scar stood up slowly and kicked the cabin. "Take good care of you. Once we have negotiated a price with the Ye family, we will naturally send you 'home'."
The footsteps gradually faded away, and the heavy alloy door locked with a clang. The only sound in the cabin was the monotonous beeping of the monitor.
Lin Yao closed his eyes and let the nutrient solution flow over the wounds all over his body. In the cold liquid, he seemed to see Ye Heng's eyes before he left.
His dark green pupils were filled with reluctance, as if he was afraid that he would never see her again if he turned around.
'Ye Heng' he muttered the name silently.
The indicator light outside the treatment cabin emitted a faint red light, illuminating Lin Yao's profile in flickering light.
The golden-red lines on his wrist were still faintly hot, conveying the murderous and restless emotions. Like himself, it hated the feeling of being imprisoned.
But he forced himself to calm down.
Scar's words were harsh but effective, allowing Lin Yao to see the current situation clearly:
The pirates need a living and valuable Lin Yao in order to exchange benefits from the Ye family or the Red Shadow Legion.
As long as he is still useful, his life will not be in danger for the time being.
"What's the rush?" Lin Yao whispered to Shasha in his heart, his fingertips curling lightly in the nutrient solution, "Confronting it head-on now will only make things worse."
Shasha seemed to understand his words, and the golden-red light gradually subsided, leaving only a faint warmth under the skin.
Not long after, the alloy door was pushed open again, and two pirates carrying trays walked in.
They were dressed in uniform black work clothes, with undisguised malice on their faces as they placed the trays heavily on the metal rack next to the treatment cabin.
On the tray was a nutritional supplement and a small bowl of something mushy that smelled like a cheap energy bar.
"Eat, Major General." One of the pirates sneered and kicked the cabin with his toes. "Don't starve to death, or we won't be able to report to you."
Lin Yao ignored the other party's ridicule and just looked at them calmly.
When the pirate untied the head restraints and took off the oxygen mask, he even opened his mouth on his own initiative.
The taste of the nutrient supplement was greasy and the paste was even harder to swallow, but Lin Yao didn't even frown as he swallowed it all mouthful by mouthful.
He could feel the energy sliding down his throat into his stomach. Although it was far less than the food in the base, it was enough to maintain the body's basic needs.
The two pirates obviously didn't expect him to cooperate so well. They were stunned for a moment before they packed up the tray and left cursing.
The moment the hatch closed, Lin Yao immediately closed his eyes and mobilized his mental power to sort out the energy in his body. He needed to recover his strength as soon as possible.
At least the wounds on the body should heal and the internal organs damaged by the impact should recover.
But Lin Yao discovered that there was something wrong with Shasha. The healing power and purification power given to him by the three colors were not as good as the strange liquid given by these pirates outside.
Lin Yao felt a strong sense of curiosity and uneasiness in his heart. He immediately calmed his mind and entered into the spiritual picture.
The scene before him stunned him.
In the past, this forest created by killing was full of energy and bright colors.
But at this moment, the energy that was supposed to be flowing seemed to have been sucked away, leaving only a faint halo floating on the edge.
Meanwhile, Shasha's main body was unusually lively at this moment, with 200 ice-blue vines tightly entwined together.
Wrap it into a round, plump bag that is neither too big nor too small.
Like a carefully cared-for fruit, it was deeply hidden in the dense tree canopy, and even the leaves were deliberately closed, as if deliberately covering itself.
What surprised Lin Yao even more was that the six colored vines of Shasha were surrounding the bulge layer by layer, forming an impenetrable barrier.
Their energy fluctuations were extremely active, but instead of being released outward, they all gathered inward and poured into the bulge.
No wonder I couldn’t get treatment. It turned out that all my energy was concentrated on that one bump.
Lin Yao: ???
He subconsciously wanted to get closer, his heart full of doubts.
When did Shasha become so mysterious? What was hidden in this package that required so many layers of vines to protect it, and required the mobilization of all Shasha's energy?
"Kill, kill, what's going on?" Lin Yao spoke, his voice full of confusion.
There was no response, only the ice-blue package trembled slightly, as if to say: "Do not disturb."
Lin Yao couldn't bear it any longer and tentatively extended his spiritual tentacles to touch the package to see what treasure was hidden inside.
But just as his tentacles were about to touch the ice-blue vines, several golden-red vines suddenly shot out from the neighboring branches, blocking him like a wall.
The golden-red vines, with sharp energy fluctuations, were obviously trying to stop him.
They even gently pushed Lin Yao's spiritual tentacles, with a firm attitude and no intention of backing down.
Lin Yao was completely stunned.
This was the first time Shasha took the initiative to stop him.
You know, Shasha is in tune with him and always listens to him. Let alone stopping him, even if he just has a thought, Shasha will respond immediately.
But now, just wanting to take a look at the bulge, he was clearly rejected by the golden-red vines.
"You..." Lin Yao's mental strength was a little unstable, he was greatly shocked.
"What's hidden in there? Why are you so nervous?"
The golden-red vines still blocked his path firmly, without any intention of explaining.
The ice-blue vines hiding in the treetops trembled slightly again, as if silently emphasizing "don't look".
Lin Yao stood there, looking at the barrier made up of vines of six colors and the mysterious bulge, and doubts in his heart surged like a tide.
Could it be that when the escape pod exploded, something special was accidentally caught in it?
Or did something happen to Shasha himself that he was unaware of?
Lin Yao frowned, looking at the indestructible line of defense in front of him, knowing that he would definitely not be able to open the package now.
He tried to retract his spiritual tentacles, and the golden-red vines indeed retreated and merged back into the barrier.
"Okay, I won't watch it." Lin Yao sighed in his heart, his tone helpless.
"But you have to tell me what's going on, right? It's not good for you to have such concentrated energy all the time."
The bump moved again, and this time it felt like... comfort?
As if to say, "It's okay, it will be fine soon."
Lin Yao looked at the package, then at the dim energy field around him, and finally decided not to ask any further questions for the time being.
He was absolutely certain that Shasha would not harm him.
Since they care so much about this package, they must have their reasons.
But... what is hidden here?
For someone who enjoys watching the show, it is really torturous when the real secret is right in front of him but he cannot solve it himself.
Lin Yao exited the mental image, opened his eyes, and looked at the purple healing fluid in the treatment cabin. He thought that it seemed that he could only rely on this healing fluid.
In the following time, Lin Yao always maintained this submissive attitude.
He took the healing medicine sent by the pirates without hesitation, no matter what color or taste it was;
When the medical soldiers came to check his wounds and adjust the parameters of the treatment chamber, he just lay there quietly. At most, when the other party moved roughly, he would glance at them coldly, but he never resisted.
Once, Scar came to see him in person, playing with the finger bones in his hands, staring at the data on the monitor with interest:
"It recovered quite quickly. It seems the 3S+ guide's self-healing ability is even more powerful than the legend says."
Lin Yao leaned on the pillow in the treatment cabin, his face still pale, but a little more lively than when he just woke up.
He looked at Scar and said calmly: "Don't you want me to be valuable? If I can't get up well, how can I negotiate terms with the Ye family?"
Scar raised his eyebrows, as if he didn't expect him to say that: "You are quite open-minded."
"What else?" Lin Yao pulled the corner of his mouth and revealed a mocking smile.
"Am I going to resist like a fool and get beaten to death by you?"
Scar laughed out loud, his knuckles jingling.
"That's interesting. Don't worry, as long as you behave well, we won't treat you unfairly. Once we get the benefits, we might even let you go."
Lin Yao didn't say anything else, but just closed his eyes again.
He knew in his heart that Scar's words were as filthy as the air in the pirates' lair and were not worth trusting at all.
But he needs this kind of promise that he will not be treated unfairly, and he needs to use this time to accumulate strength.
—
But everything was broken on this day.
Lin Yaogang was helped out of the treatment cabin by the pirates and was allowed limited movement in the cabin where he was imprisoned.
The heavy alloy door was kicked open with a loud bang.
Scar rushed in with a murderous look on his face, holding a laptop in his hand. The scar on his face was twisted with anger, and his eyes were like poisoned knives, shooting straight at Lin Yao.
Scar slammed the laptop hard onto the metal table in front of Lin Yao. The screen flickered a few times due to the impact and finally froze on a news clip.
"You are worthless!"
Lin Yao frowned and looked at him, a bad premonition rising in his heart.
His eyes fell on the computer screen and his pupils suddenly contracted.
The holographic image shows a solemn funeral scene, and the black and white photo shows himself wearing a neat major general's uniform.
The soldiers of the Red Shadow Legion carried the empty coffin and walked slowly across the memorial square of the Central Star.
The surrounding area was filled with people holding white flowers, and the crying and funeral music mixed together, piercing his eardrums.
"The Empire is holding a funeral for you, Major General Lin."
Scar sneered, his tone full of sarcasm, "You can't even find your body, yet you've earned the false title of 'Hero of the Empire'. Isn't that ridiculous?"
Lin Yao's fingers curled up unconsciously, his nails dug deep into his palms, but he didn't feel any pain at all.
Before he could recover from the news, Scar switched to the news channel again. The official announcement popped up on the screen, clearly written in black and white:
Upon application by the Ye family and confirmation by the Imperial Household Registration Management Center, the marriage registration information of Marshal Ye Heng and Major General Lin Yao will be cancelled from today.
"Is the Ye family kind enough?" Scar took a step closer, lowered his voice, and spoke with malicious pleasure.
"'The dead are gone, there's no need to leave any traces behind', what a beautiful way to put it. He's just kicking you out of his family's roster even though you were never even on his radar."
Lin Yao's breathing suddenly stopped, and his heart seemed to be tightly grasped by an invisible hand, and even breathing was painful.
He stared at the notice, as if he wanted to see through the words.
Scar seemed to think the blow he dealt to him wasn't enough: "What a pity! Major General Lin, you're no longer popular."
"According to insider information from the Lin family, Lin Xue is about to register her marriage with Ye Heng, and the wedding is scheduled for March next year, which is when the Lin family's youngest daughter is ripe for marriage..."
"Did you see that?" Scar patted his laptop. "What do you think you are? A discarded pawn that's been used up and then thrown away?"
"You are worthless! Major General Lin!" Scar repeated this sentence again, his eyes full of certainty, as if he was sure that Lin Yao would completely collapse because of this.
However, to Scar's surprise, Lin Yao was stunned for a moment, and then burst into laughter.
The laughter echoed in the small cabin, with an almost crazy and unrestrained tone. Scar frowned and felt a sense of unease inexplicably in his heart.
Lin Yao laughed enough, wiped the tears from the corners of his eyes, and his eyes suddenly became as sharp as a knife. He looked directly at Scar and asked:
"No value?"
He took a step forward, approaching Scar, his tone filled with undisguised sarcasm:
"If it's worthless, you should just kill me instead of coming to me with this information and trying to persuade me to stay."
"You think I don't know my own weight?"
Lin Yao's voice suddenly rose, with an innate arrogance.
"In the entire empire, I'm the only 3S+ guide! Just based on this, I can't be worthless!"
Scar was choked by his question and subconsciously took half a step back.
He didn't expect that after experiencing these blows, Lin Yao not only did not collapse, but became even more powerful and gained the upper hand in an instant.
"Isn't the purpose of your arresting me because of my identity as a 3S+ guide?" Lin Yao continued, his eyes sweeping across the scar on Scar's face.
"Now you tell me I'm worthless?" Lin Yao sneered.
"If I were truly worthless, would you have gone to such great lengths to rescue me from the ruins and keep me well-fed and well-fed?"
Scar's face turned pale and blue. Lin Yao hit the nail on the head, but he couldn't find any words to refute.
The value of the 3S+ Guide is too great. Even if the Ye family really gives up on him, there are still many forces willing to buy him at a high price.
Lin Yao looked at Scar's gloomy face and sneered in his heart.
The news just now really stabbed his heart like a knife, but he knew very well that now was not the time to collapse.
In times like this, the more calm you need to be in order to save your life and launch a more deadly counterattack, whether it's from pirates or the Empire.
"So, stop trying to test me with these little tricks." Lin Yao took a step back, distanced himself again, and his tone returned to calm, but with an unquestionable strength.
"I'm asking you to tell the real boss behind the scenes that sincerity is much better than testing the waters when asking someone to do something."
Scar suddenly raised his head, his eyes filled with doubt and uncertainty: "What did you say?"
"I said, I want to see the person behind you who actually manages these pirates." Lin Yao repeated clearly, word by word.
"You are not qualified to negotiate with me."
Scar's face instantly turned extremely ugly, as if a sore spot had been stepped on.
He has always regarded himself as the leader of the Broken Claw Star Pirates and has the final say in the Star-Devouring Cave. Lin Yao's words were undoubtedly a humiliation to him.
"Lin Yao, don't be shameless!" Scar's voice became deeper, and his hand unconsciously touched the dagger at his waist.
"In this Star Devouring Cave, I am the boss!"
"Really?" Lin Yao raised his eyebrows, and the sarcasm in his tone became stronger.
"Then tell me, who ordered you to capture me alive, and who was behind this to use me for profit?
You are just a vanguard following orders, do you really think you can make the decision?"
He pressed on, his eyes sharp as an eagle:
"Let the people behind you come to see me. Otherwise, even if you trap me here, you won't get any benefit from me.
You can try to see how difficult the 3S+ guide's mental power is.
Scar's hand was clenched so tightly on the hilt that his knuckles turned white.
He knew that Lin Yao was telling the truth. This operation was indeed commanded by higher-ups, and he was only responsible for charging into battle.
Lin Yao's words were like a needle, piercing through the illusion of being a leader that he tried so hard to maintain.
"Good, very good." Scar stared at Lin Yao for a long time, and finally released his hand holding the knife, his tone gloomy.
"I'll take your words to you. But you'd better pray that you don't regret your decision today."
Lin Yao looked at him expressionlessly: "I never regret my decision."
Scar glared at him fiercely, turned around, kicked open the cabin door, and left angrily.
This time, there was a hint of embarrassment in his steps.
The moment the hatch closed, Lin Yao's tense body relaxed slightly.
He knew that his action was risky, but it was the only way to break the deadlock.
Scar is just a reckless man. There is no point in wasting time with him. Only by meeting the real person behind the scenes can we get a chance to turn the tables.
The night in the Star-Eating Cave gradually deepened, and the lights in the cabin flickered, illuminating Lin Yao's calm and determined face.
A new game is about to begin.
—
Ever since Lin Yao asked to meet the person behind Scar, his treatment has changed drastically.
That afternoon, the two pirates knocked on the hatch, their attitude respectful to the point of being eerie.
They led Lin Yao to another cabin, which was no longer a small and cramped prison cell.
Instead, it was a room with a separate lounge area and washbasin, and there was even a holographic screen on the metal wall that could display a star map.
Although the furnishings were still simple, it was a world of difference compared to the previous detention center.
"Major General Lin, you will live here from now on." The leading pirate put down a clean uniform, and said in a cautious and flattering tone.
"If you need anything, just let us know and we will arrange it immediately."
Lin Yao raised his eyebrows and looked at the new environment without saying a word.
He knew that this was just a gesture of goodwill from the other party, in order to make him wait in peace.
It was also a silent test to see if he would let down his guard because of this improvement.
In the following days, the food delivered was no longer the inedible paste, but a balanced nutritious meal, and occasionally even a small bottle of rich-tasting nutrient solution.
The pirates guarding the cabin were also replaced. They no longer looked as ferocious as before. They just stood far away outside the cabin door, but their eyes were always alert.
Lin Yao was happy to enjoy this preferential treatment.
He ate on time and maintained a regular schedule every day. In his spare time, he would analyze the route by looking at the star map, or sink into the sea of spirituality to observe the changes in the bulge.
It's growing bigger every day, and Lin Yao is starting to wonder if there's any life inside it.
On the evening of the fourth day, Scar appeared at the cabin door again.
The hostility on his face had subsided a lot, but the look he gave Lin Yao was still complicated, with a bit of unwillingness, but he had to suppress it.
"The boss agreed to see you." Scar leaned against the door frame, his arms folded across his chest, his tone stiff, "But you have to wait a few more days."
Lin Yao was sitting in the rest area looking at the books provided here. There were actually antique books in this corner that he couldn't even buy on the Central Star.
Hearing this, he turned a page without even looking up: "Okay."
Just two simple words, no unnecessary questions, and no expression of any urgency.
Scar seemed to have not expected him to be so straightforward. He paused for a moment before adding:
"Don't play tricks. The boss has a bad temper. If you make him unhappy, everything you've fought for will be gone."
"I hope this meeting goes smoothly more than you do." Lin Yao put the book on his lap and said in a calm tone.
"After all, everyone's goal is the same: to negotiate a good deal."
Scar was so frustrated by his words that he snorted angrily, "You're smart. I'll come and call you when the time comes."
After saying that, he turned and left, and even another glance seemed unnecessary.
After the hatch closed, Lin Yao picked up the book and started reading again.
Waiting is also a weapon.
—
What Lin Yao didn’t expect was that after a few days, the person behind him turned out to be him!
Then, Lin Yao laughed, and after laughing, Lin Yao said the first words between him and the pirate leader:
"Hello! My savior!"
