Chapter 660 Things Have Changed

"Even in times of national ruin and family destruction, does His Highness the Crown Prince still refuse to accept us?"

Grand Duke Melson frowned. Sometimes, the nobles really couldn't understand what the royal family was doing. Was it because they had already cooperated with the Sixth Prince and the Ninth Princess?

They clearly possess many secret powers, so why does the First Prince really look down on them? The problem is, even if he doesn't care, they don't even have a place to use their skills. They can only defend against scattered void monsters every day and watch helplessly as the enemy prepares to launch a final all-out attack.

"When you're under someone's roof, you have to bow your head, Grand Duke Melson."

Count Finn entered from the outside, loosening his tie and placing his hat on a coat rack.

"What did Udar say?"

"Wait, instead of asking me what His Excellency the Duke thinks, you should ask me how the production of my latest antibody gene drug is going."

"Oh? How's the potion making going?"

Melson also looked curious, while Count Finn sat down with a chuckle, took a small sip of his coffee, and then said:

"We still haven't been able to make it."

Grand Duke Melson: ? ? ?

"If you think this is fun, then I'll play with you a few more times."

As Lord Melson's face slowly darkened, Earl Finn also spread his hands.

"Think about it. First, we were limited by the materials, and then we were trapped in the town of Falling Rock. We would encounter the void outside and be restricted by the Crown Prince inside. It can be said that there was no good experimental environment at all."

And so, Archmage Azro and I developed new potion abilities.

A power called soul-stealing.

This power can theoretically control the void energy within the body, but the problem is that you need to make the void energy think you are completely safe first.

Cough cough, anyway, I don't know how to make the void energy think that I am completely safe.

But something is better than nothing.

Useless ability.

Grand Duke Melson was speechless. Couldn't your research department come up with anything useful?

You even claimed to have developed it with Archmage Azrod, but isn't Archmage focused on restoring consciousness corrupted by the Void? When will you have time to work on something like this?

Squeak~

Another person pushed the door open and entered.

Upon seeing the person before them, Grand Duke Melson and Count Finn quickly rose to pay their respects to Duke Udar.

"No need for that. How was the monitoring of the void today?"

"Reporting to Your Grace, the situation is dire. The Void's army has begun to enter various passes, and... we have also spotted the missing capital city to the due east."

As the second-in-command of the Noble Alliance, Grand Duke Melson also shared all the recent information with the Duke.

But this is definitely not what Udar wants to hear.

"The Empire is dying slowly, and Prince Dalark has gone mad!"

While the enhanced soldiers are indeed powerful, to the Void, they are nothing more than ants that have become somewhat stronger ants.

We didn't have enough time for the genes to take effect; instead, there was emptiness...

Not long ago, the Beta Squad secretly traveled to the fallen city of Vinaqu in the north, where they discovered Void Soldiers who were completely different from the others. After Fin's experiments, they found that the group of people were genetically enhanced beings corrupted by the Void.

I even suspect that the reason the Void hasn't attacked for so long is because they're waiting for the Crown Prince to inject everyone with the gene-enhancing reagent.

Udar shook his head. The reason they were ostracized was because they refused to receive the gene-enhancing drug from the Crown Prince.

He considered it a deception, a mere lip service to the alliance, and therefore refused them entry into the main city, forcing them to camp in the nearest town of Falling Rock.

Ironically, even though the Crown Prince had fewer elite troops than the Noble Alliance, he was able to force them to occupy the smallest territory.

The nobles, however, did not believe in the current power of the royal family and therefore continued to follow Duke Udar.

"Sir, we need to find a suitable time to retreat."

Grand Duke Melson proposed.

"Retreat? Where else can we go?"

Count Finn curled his lip. If their empire didn't unite by now, then the empire would truly be beyond saving.

Udar watched the two people in front of him talking back and forth, and they were the epitome of the two mainstream factions of the nobility today.

One side distrusted the royal family and advocated retreating to preserve the last embers of the royal family.

One side hopes for imperial unity and advocates for joint resistance against the Void.
