Chapter 25: The Ghost in the Sewer
The strong breath of life created a small world in this dirty and corrupt sewer, allowing Naomi to breathe.
With just a casual glance, Amber knew that there were at least three kinds of buff effects attached to this statue.
Life recovery, immunity to toxins, freedom of movement...all large-scale blessings, which made Amber Xiu quite envious.
This is a divine weapon, a divine weapon that can exert a powerful effect even if held by a mortal. If this thing is sold, the starting price will be at least one million gold coins.
However, the druid's artifacts require regular sacrificial ceremonies to maintain the power of the artifacts from dissipating. If they are taken by others, they may become ineffective in three to five months.
But no matter how powerful this artifact is, Amber is not lucky enough to enjoy its benefits.
Because to the undead, Silvanus's divine power is more terrifying than the poisonous gas in the sewer.
The sewer environment only made Amberxiu uncomfortable, but the green natural barrier in front of him would corrode his undead body like sulfuric acid.
After all, the undead are a race that completely violates the natural order and are considered Silvanus's mortal enemies.
"The statue of Silvanus can purify the toxins in the sewers and should also have the power to dispel illusions. Is this your reliance on saving your people?" asked Amber Xiu.
Naomi took a few deep breaths and recovered before answering, "Yes, I have entered the sewer more than once, but by the time I found the location where my tribesmen were in danger, they had already disappeared. Although the power of the Silvanus statue is protecting them, I need you to help me find them."
This druid girl really didn't have any bad intentions, so Amberxiu wasn't going to tear up the contract, lest he be caught by the Alchemy City and have his property confiscated.
"Then let's move on now and go to the place where your people are in danger first." said Amber Xiu.
No matter what kind of illusion it is, it will always leave some traces. If you know what created the illusion, it will be much easier to find the person who created it.
Naomi walked in front holding the Silvanus statue. With the blessing of the statue, the harsh environment of the sewer had almost no effect on her. In order to speed up, Naomi directly used the wilderness form to transform into a nimble black panther, biting the statue and running wildly in the sewer. Amber had to use the flying spell to keep up with Naomi's speed.
Not long after, the two came to a slightly empty flat area, which seemed to be some kind of buffer zone with a large area of flat rocky ground. However, it was still surrounded by dirty canals, and the stench was even stronger than the previous entrance.
But this place was very clean. Not to mention the druid's corpse, there were hardly any cockroaches to be seen.
"I've been here several times, but there's nothing left here," Naomi said to Amber.
But before Amber could check, a large number of scarlet spots suddenly appeared around him.
Before Naomi could see what they were, the scarlet dots of light rushed towards her. The green light emanating from her body was as conspicuous as a torch in the dark in the sewer.
Naomi was a little slow to react. She had not encountered any danger the previous two times she came to the sewer. The power of the statue of Silvanus could drive away all the monsters in the sewer. How could a monster dare to rush towards her this time?
Naomi was a beat slow to react, but Amber was not.
Two ice rays flew out from his palms, leaving large traces of frost in front of Naomi. The monsters that rushed the fastest were hit by the ice rays and were quickly frozen into ice sculptures.
Naomi then saw clearly what kind of monsters were rushing towards her. They were actually a group of giant rats, each one was about the size of a wolf, their fur was covered with all kinds of ringworm spots and cysts, and just one look at them made her feel like her eyes were going to be infected with deadly germs.
The ice rays in Amberxiu's hands swept across continuously as if they were free, until all the diseased rats were frozen into ice cubes, and they finally survived the crisis temporarily.
Naomi was shocked by Amber's power. Although Ice Ray was the simplest ice spell, could an ordinary wizard use such a basic spell like a crossbow? Naomi couldn't help but move closer to Amber, and Amber had to take two steps back to stay outside the natural barrier.
Amber Xiu quickly warned: "Be careful, do you want to sacrifice me to Silvanus?"
Naomi felt a little embarrassed. It was really outrageous that a druid like her would subconsciously approach an undead to seek shelter when in danger.
Naomi could only change the subject by saying, "What the hell are these? I've never seen them before."
Amberxiu walked to the big rats that had turned into ice sculptures, and suddenly there was a scalpel in his hand. He began to disembowel these diseased rats. The bloody and cruel appearance made Naomi unable to help but look away.
Amber Xiu didn't feel uncomfortable at all. This level of bloodiness was just child's play.
Fur, muscles, blood vessels, nerves, internal organs, bones...all kinds of parts were stripped off by Amberxiu. After studying the body structure almost completely, Amberxiu also extracted the soul of the mutant mouse for examination.
It didn't take long for Amber Xiu to come to a conclusion: "I think I know what your people encountered."
Naomi quickly asked, "You know? What kind of monster is it?"
There is no mistake in the poem, post, content, and read the book on 6, 9, and bar!
Amber pointed at the bloody corpse of the rat and said, "This kind of rat has been transformed by magic. This method was probably done by a witch."
"Ghost?"
Naomi looked puzzled.
"You haven't even heard of a hag? Don't you druids use the saying 'if you don't obey, you will be caught by the hag' to scare children?" Amber asked.
Naomi gritted her teeth and said, "We druids would never do such a thing. Using horror stories to scare children is something you undead would do, right?"
"Are you stupid? The dead don't have children." said Amberxiu.
Naomi: …
The inexperienced druid girl was completely speechless. She had just had a little bit of a favorable impression of Amber, thinking that this undead was powerful and reliable. Now she immediately silently recited Silvanus's teachings - undead are really not good things!
"Okay, let's get back to the point." Amber explained, "The hags were originally monsters from the Fey Wilds, but they came to the material plane a long time ago. Horror legends about hags occasionally appear in the Nine Kingdoms. They are a group of evil, ugly old women with cruel personalities, and most of them are arrogant and conceited. They like to harm humans in various ways.
"Using magic to transform creatures as servants is a common method used by witches. These rats were transformed by witches' magic, and are highly poisonous and aggressive. However, they are not very powerful monsters. Ordinary people can kill a few of them if they are brave enough. However, if you don't bring antidotes, you will soon be poisoned to death. Even after death, these creatures can still spread the virus."
