Chapter 64: The Wisdom of the Lich
Fanxing felt dizzy and lightheaded, unable to mobilize the power of holy light. He wanted to clench his right fist while dizzy. There was a ring on it that could trigger a pre-prepared divine spell that could expel most of the toxins.
However, as soon as he reached out his hand, a wine bottle hit his arm.
The shattering of the wine bottle did not hurt him at all, but it did interrupt his fist-clenching movement.
The orc bartender held the half-broken bottle and looked at the tin can in front of him with regret. This guy had never taken off his armor, so it was difficult to sneak attack him.
Fanxing knew that he had been ambushed and had no time to think about why. A holy light appeared on his body, making his mind suddenly clear.
There is more than one divine spell to remove abnormal conditions, and he has more than one piece of magical equipment.
But just as he regained consciousness, a tall orc hit him on the head with a hammer.
A golden shield lit up on Fanxing's armor, dissipating most of the force of the hammer, and Fanxing quickly grabbed his sword. While drawing the sword, he slammed the hilt into the orc's body, knocking him several meters away and knocking down a group of adventurers who wanted to come and besiege him.
Fanxing drew his sword, and the dazzling holy light had already enveloped the sword.
Although the adventurers in the bar surrounded him, they were forced back by the halo emanating from Fanxing.
He pointed the blade at the orc bartender and said slowly, "I don't know why, but you're planning to assassinate me with just two glasses of poisoned wine. Aren't you underestimating the Knights of Judgment?"
The orc bartender shrugged and said, "I told you this amount wasn't enough, but the boss said you'd find out if I added more."
"Oh, these are your last words?"
Fanxing raised his sword high and swung a Holy Slash at the orc bartender.
The strong holy light illuminated the entire bar like daylight; before the sword fell, the scorching light had already charred the wooden bar counter.
But this sword ultimately failed to cut down.
Two silver swords extended from under the bar at an incredible angle, pierced through the table top, and stabbed towards Fanxing's crotch.
If it was an ordinary sneak attack, Fanxing could completely ignore it because the enchanted armor on his body was enough to withstand most cold weapon attacks.
But just when the two swords were about to pierce his armor, Fanxing suddenly had a strong sense of crisis, and the Holy Slash suddenly turned and cut off the two swords.
The orc bartender also managed to escape. He bumped his body backwards into a revolving secret door and ran away.
Before Fanxing could chase him, the attacker hiding under the bar had already jumped out.
"What the hell is this?!"
Fanxing only saw a silvery-white thing that looked like mercury rushing towards him.
Fanxing quickly condensed the Holy Slash and wanted to kill this strange thing.
However, at this moment, Fanxing felt her feet slip, and she didn't know when the ground was covered with slippery liquid.
"Grease Technique?! When?"
Grease spell is a panacea spell that can be used on almost any battlefield. Its effect is to create a layer of slippery oil on the ground that can make people slip.
Although Fanxing did not fall on the spot, the sudden grease technique still deformed his movements, and the Holy Slash could only cut off a small half of the monster's body.
Although the ball of mercury screamed, most of it still stuck to his body.
The enchanted armor on his body began to flash with magical light almost immediately, and bursts of green smoke emerged. The armor of Stars was corroded at a speed visible to the naked eye.
Fanxing leaned his sword on the ground, and the cloak behind him lit up with purple magical light.
There was a loud thunder, and a violent shock wave burst out from Fanxing's body, which not only blew away the mercury on his body, but also shattered the bar counter next to him.
Fanxing was panting. The continuous sneak attacks just now made sweat on his forehead.
What on earth was that mercury? It damaged his armor in the blink of an eye, and several enchantment effects were broken, making him look extremely miserable.
Something was not right today, could it be that the people of Alchemy City went back on their word? Fanxing was about to use the Phantom Step to teleport away, but suddenly found that the space around him was strangely distorted.
"Space confinement?!"
This is a very advanced spell, and there is a powerful caster hiding off to the side.
Fanxing didn't dare to delay any longer. People who could cast the spell of space confinement were very difficult to deal with. Even in a one-on-one fight, he was not 100% sure of winning.
There are more than a dozen adventurers of unknown strength around him, and he doesn't dare to fight such a high-level wizard under such circumstances.
Fanxing just wanted to escape and get back to his teammates as soon as possible. He even began to worry that such assassinations were happening elsewhere, and then his companions would be in danger.
With the Holy Slash leading the way, Fanxing ran wildly on the greasy ground, but every step he took was extremely steady, and he had rushed out of the bar in less than two seconds.
However, what Fanxing saw was not the bustling Southern Cross Street, but a thick black fog.
Another simple but practical spell - darkness.
It created a thick, impenetrable darkness that obscured everyone's vision. Even the holy light shining from the stars could not break through this darkness.
In this pitch-dark environment, Fanxing heard a deep voice: "Tsk tsk, poison protection, thunder wave, nimble steps...how many spells are enchanted on this set of equipment of yours? It's really extravagant."
Fanxing threw a ball of holy fire in the direction of the sound. This is also the signature spell of the Holy Knight. It has low power, but also low energy consumption, and is extremely quick to cast.
There is no mistake in the poem, post, content, and read the book on 6, 9, and bar!
The holy fire sank into the darkness and seemed to hit something, but the other party's voice did not change at all.
"Amazing, you are worthy of being the elite of the Ryan Empire. Your intuition is almost comparable to that of the magicians of the prophecy school."
Fanxing did not dare to be careless and cast protective spells on himself one after another, turning himself into a huge ball of light.
"Delaying time? He's a smart man. He guessed that we didn't dare to make a big fuss by using assassination methods, so he let the people of Alchemy City intervene. He's really powerful, the holy warrior of the Ryan Empire."
Although the tone was one of praise, Fanxing only felt irony when she heard it.
The young paladin thought quickly about how to deal with it, and finally chose to take a risk. His feet lit up, and then he jumped 20 meters away, directly out of the darkness.
Enhanced Leap, a special ritual spell, is the spell enchanted on his leg armor.
Up to now, Fanxing has only used up most of his strength to perform the Holy Slash twice, and he still has most of his physical strength retained. However, he has dealt with fatal threats time and time again, which shows the importance of enchanted equipment.
After breaking out of the darkness, Fanxing finally saw his real opponent - a lich floating in the air.
Fanxing's pupils shrank, knowing that he was in big trouble, but he suddenly laughed and said confidently: "You are the lich, you are much weaker than I thought, are you really a legend?"
If he really was a legendary spellcaster, Fanxing would not have been able to deal with him so easily and might have been seriously injured.
Amber Xiu shrugged and said, "I am just a scholar who is devoted to academic research, unlike you who are all about fighting and killing."
Fanxing sneered and said, "A scholar who likes assassination? You undeads are really shameless. Oh, I forgot, you have no shame in the first place."
Amber Xiu had no feelings towards this provocation, and he kept talking to himself, "I have never been careless before, and I dare not arrange assassinations, because I am not sure of your methods. The Alchemy City is a group of fence-sitters who don't help either side, and they don't even give me any intelligence. I am really afraid that if I act first, I will fall into the trap you have prepared. I just realized recently that you are so careless that you didn't even think that I would take the initiative to attack?"
After hearing this, Fanxing immediately became suspicious.
The lich said this, could it be that someone leaked the news? His companions would never betray him, and the problem might lie with the three hundred people he had just recaptured.
"But so what? Not only did you fail in the assassination, but you also exposed your own weakness. If I had known you were so weak, I could have purified you by myself." Fanxing said confidently.
Amber Xiu nodded and said, "Indeed, you guys are not legends, but you all have a set of super luxurious equipment. I may not be your opponent."
"You mean, you want to surrender?" Fanxing sneered.
Amber shook his head, then said, "No, I found a more suitable opponent for you. Gareth, I leave it to you."
As Amberxiu finished his words, a breathtakingly huge figure appeared on the street.
There was a sound of chains shaking, and a long sword that was bigger than Fanxing himself chopped down on his head.
