Chapter 107 - Night Star Language
The night in the God Burial Abyss is when the evil spirit surges most violently and the chill is most bone-chilling.
The dark and evil clouds were like thick ink, completely swallowing up the last ray of light.
Only in the center of the Immortal-Slaying Square, the dark golden halo emitted by the Nine-Turn Profound Evil Gathering Spirit Array, like the only source of light in the darkness, stubbornly supports a warm and murderous area.
The newly born Guixu Sect welcomed its first night.
At the edge of the square, near the Shajing Cliff, a huge bonfire was burning.
The flames weren't the usual orange-red, but a deep, dark gold. This was the "Evil Fire" ignited by Tie Niu's brute force, splitting a crystal stone imbued with pure Fire Evil. The flames leaped, dispelling the chill of the abyss and illuminating the dancing light and shadows on the faces of those gathered around.
"Dinner is ready—!"
Su Tang's clear, joyful voice shattered the silence of the evil night. She directed Bai Xiaolu to lift the lid of a massive stone pot placed on a fire. Instantly, an indescribable aroma, a blend of rich meaty aroma, the fragrance of herbs, and... a hint of an extremely subtle and overbearing evil aura, filled the air!
What was bubbling in the pot was Luo Hongyi’s “masterpiece”!
The main ingredient is the most essential spine and leg meat of the "Earth Dragon Rhino", an unlucky Nascent Soul-level evil monster that Tie Niu brought back during the day and tried to approach the medicine garden. The meat is as crystal clear as blood jade and contains surging evil energy and blood.
The auxiliary materials are a few tender leaves of Star Tear Grass that have just emerged from the Su Tang medicinal garden, several kinds of abyss mosses and mushrooms collected by Bai Xiaolu that can neutralize the evil poison, and the most important thing is a few pieces of dragon skeleton star core fragments that have been repeatedly refined and purified by Luo Hongyi with poison elements, removing the violence and leaving only the essence!
The rich soup is a gorgeous dark golden color, like flowing molten gold, with crystal pieces of meat, emerald green grass leaves, shiny black mushrooms rolling in it, and little star-shaped stars floating in the soup.
The aroma overbearingly impacted everyone's sense of smell, arousing the most primitive appetite, and even the strong evil spirit in the air seemed to be diluted a little by this aroma.
"Wow! What a nice smell!" Su Tang sniffed, her psychic eyes brightening surprisingly, "Senior Sister Luo! Your meat stew will definitely top the Abyss Food List!"
Tie Niu couldn't wait to grab a stone bowl and stared at the pot eagerly: "Senior Sister Luo! Let me have a bowl first! I'm so hungry that I can eat a whole cow!"
Luo Hongyi rolled her eyes at him unhappily, and with a long spoon also made of black rock, she scooped up a large spoonful of steaming hot, thick meat stew and poured it accurately into Tieniu's stone bowl: "Stupid cow, why are you in such a hurry? I'll burn you to death!" Despite saying that, her beautiful face showed a hint of imperceptible satisfaction in the light of the fire.
She then served Su Tang and Bai Xiaolu, and finally scooped two bowls and walked towards the main hall.
Chu Linyuan and Xie Zhao were not sitting around the campfire on the stone steps at the entrance of the main hall.
Chu Linyuan sat cross-legged on the steps, the Frost Silence Sword across his knees, the Immortal Killing Spear leaning at his side. He closed his eyes, as if regulating his breathing, or perhaps keeping vigil.
Xuan Yi blended into the shadows, with only the dark gold dragon pattern on his cheek occasionally shining faintly under the dancing firelight, cold and silent.
Xie Zhaoze sat leaning against the stone pillar of the palace gate not far from Chu Linyuan. His face still had the paleness of someone who had just recovered from a serious illness, but he was in much better spirits.
The Jinghong Talisman Pen didn't retract, but instead twirled nimbly between his fingertips. A faint golden light flowed from the tip, outlining a number of mysterious and tiny rune structures in the air before him, as if deducing something. The firelight illuminated his focused profile and those peach blossom eyes that sparkled with wisdom.
Luo Hongyi came over with two bowls of steaming meat stew and placed one directly on the ground next to Chu Linyuan. Her voice was filled with her usual lazy sarcasm, "Bingtuozi, your 'freeze-dried food'."
Then, she walked over to Xie Zhao and handed him another bowl, her tone slightly softer: "Second idiot, stop fiddling with your broken pen and drink it while it's hot. It contains Star Tears Grass to strengthen the body and replenish the vital energy."
Xie Zhao stopped writing the talisman, looked up at Luo Hongyi, and immediately put on his signature, slightly provocative smile: "Junior Sister Xie Luo, you know that you are the best to me!" He reached out to take the stone bowl. The scorching temperature made him grit his teeth, but he blew on it nonchalantly and couldn't wait to take a sip.
"Hmm!" The rich broth was boiling hot and fragrant. The domineering murderous aura mixed with pure blood instantly dissolved in the body, bringing a warm current that dissipated the coldness of the abyss, nourished the depleted meridians, and even alleviated the fatigue of the soul! The infused star power was like sweet spring water, warm and comfortable. "Incredible! Junior Sister Luo! With your cooking skills, you are more than qualified to establish a sect and become a poison... uh, the founder of the food art!"
Luo Hongyi snorted lightly, ignored his smooth talk, turned and walked towards the campfire, and served herself a bowl.
Chu Linyuan still had his eyes closed, as if he hadn't heard Luo Hongyi's words, nor had he noticed the steaming bowl of meat stew beside him. He slowly opened his eyes only after Luo Hongyi had walked away. His cold gaze swept across the bowl of thick soup, then fell on Xie Zhao, who was holding the bowl beside him, grimacing from the burn, yet looking satisfied.
Xie Zhao was sipping the soup, feeling the warmth flowing through his body, his eyes narrowed in comfort. The flames danced, illuminating his pale cheeks and slightly red nose.
Perhaps it was because the soup was too hot, or perhaps it was because Luo Hongyi added something, but beads of sweat oozed out of his forehead, and a few strands of hair were wet with sweat and stuck to his temples. He lost some of his usual liveliness and gained a rare sense of... vulnerability?
Chu Linyuan's gaze lingered on the wet hair for a moment. Then, with lightning speed and precise precision, he reached out his hand and lifted the bowl of meat stew beside him—what Luo Hongyi called "freeze-dried food"—and with a steady hand, he passed it to Xie Zhao.
The movements were smooth, without a trace of hesitation.
Xie Zhao was gasping for air from the heat when a bowl of hot soup suddenly appeared before his eyes. He was stunned for a moment. He raised his head and met Chu Linyuan's cold eyes, which were still emotionless.
"It's cold." Chu Linyuan's voice was calm, as if he was stating a fact that had nothing to do with him. "Drink this bowl."
Xie Zhao blinked, looked at the half-finished bowl of scalding hot meat stew in his hand, then at the steaming bowl that Chu Linyuan handed over. His peach blossom eyes instantly filled with a mischievous smile, like a fox that had successfully stolen some fish. "Oh my! Senior brother! Have you finally gotten it? Do you know how to care about me? Are you worried that I'll get burned?" He teased, but he unceremoniously put down his own bowl and took the one handed by Chu Linyuan, taking another big sip happily. "Mm! What senior brother gives me is so fragrant! It's especially sweet!"
Chu Linyuan withdrew his hand expressionlessly, as if the action of handing over the soup was just an illusion. He closed his eyes again, no longer paying attention to Xie Zhao's clamor. Only the Frost Silence Sword at his knees seemed to hum almost imperceptibly, like a silent warning.
