Chapter 123 - Work Injury

Chapter 123 - Work Injury

But he gritted his teeth, his peach blossom eyes blazing with an almost paranoid ruthlessness! He wouldn't retreat! Not even a single step back! The Jinghong Talisman Pen pressed firmly against Chu Linyuan's heart, and the Talisman Blood poured into the tip of the pen desperately, maintaining the Heart Talisman's radiance!

"Hold... on... for me!" He roared, his body leaning back slightly due to the huge impact, but he was as if nailed to the spot!

One person draws the evil to attack, and the other one takes it with a talisman!

The violent power clashed and tore at each other frantically in the small space of the heart, and finally, under the mysterious guidance of the way of talismans, was forcibly incorporated into the trajectory of the flow of the heart talisman, like a wild horse being put on a bridle!

The dragon patterns spreading across Chu Linyuan's left body visibly slowed, and the blazing golden light subsided slightly. The raging molten lava in his scarlet-gold pupils was gradually suppressed by a cold rationality. Although pain still lingered, the danger of losing control was temporarily contained.

He gasped violently, each breath carrying a trail of burning white air. His cold gaze fell on the figure in front of him, whose face was pale, the corners of his mouth were stained with gold, and whose body was trembling slightly, yet he still held the pen tightly against him.

"Hu...Hu..." Xie Zhao was also breathing heavily, and the Jinghong Talisman Pen finally drooped slightly, and the golden light on the tip of the pen dimmed a lot.

He looked at the dragon pattern on Chu Linyuan's left side, which was still ferocious but no longer spreading wildly. His peach blossom eyes were filled with fear and heartache, and his voice was hoarse: "...Senior Brother...your work injury...is too scary..."

Chu Linyuan remained silent, without responding. He slowly raised his right hand, the one not completely covered by the dragon pattern. His cold fingertips trembled slightly, barely perceptible, as he very slowly and clumsily reached for the corner of Xie Zhao's bloodstained mouth.

Just as my fingertips were about to touch that dazzling golden color——

"Ahem!" Luo Hongyi coughed lazily and playfully. "So early in the morning, are you two...rehearsing new moves? You're making quite a noise."

She was seen leaning against the doorframe of the main hall, her fingertips toying with a wisp of dark green poisonous mist. Her beautiful face wore an expression of watching a show. Her eyes swept over the dragon pattern on Chu Linyuan's body and the golden blood at the corner of Xie Zhao's mouth. Her red lips curled slightly, "Oh, the ice cube turned into gold and jade? You idiot, is this... saliva or blood?"

"Senior Sister Luo!" Su Tang held up the photo stone, her little face flushed as she poked her head out from behind Luo Hongyi, her psychic eyes shining frighteningly.

The massive figure of Tie Niu grunted over, carrying a large piece of newly smelted meteorite iron, and interrupted in a muffled voice, "Second Brother is vomiting blood again? Senior Sister Luo! Quick! Give him the Ten-Ingredient Tonic! I guarantee it'll cure his death...er, his illness!"

Chu Linyuan's outstretched hand froze in mid-air for an instant, and then he withdrew it abruptly as if it had been scalded, and put it behind his back.

All the subtle emotional fluctuations on his face were instantly frozen, leaving only his usual coldness. He didn't even look at Luo Hongyi and Su Tang, his eyes swept over the meteorite iron carried by Tie Niu, and his voice was hoarse and forced to suppress:

"Materials, place them on the east side of the tower base."

"Oh!" Tie Niu responded and obediently placed the meteorite block in the designated location with a bang.

Xie Zhaoze quickly wiped the golden blood from the corner of his mouth with his sleeve, and his signature, slightly provocative smile instantly appeared on his face, as if the weakness and desperate efforts just now had never happened. He waved his hands at Luo Hongyi and Su Tang:

"Go away! What's with all that saliva and blood? This Talisman Immortal is... practicing early this morning, and my aura is too strong, so some of my essence is leaking out. Do you understand? You're not surprised by anything!"

He glared at Tie Niu again. "And you! What's that all-purpose tonic? Junior Sister Luo's soup... that's called art! Do you understand art? If you dare to slander me again, I'll draw a talisman for you so you'll never find the toilet again!"

"Alright, stop being so naive." Luo Hongyi snorted softly, and a wisp of poisonous mist shot out from his fingertips, accurately shooting towards Xie Zhao. "Next! Soul-Fixing Powder, with double the essence of Star Tear Grass and Chen Ji Dew, specially formulated to treat those who are stubborn and weak."

A small dark green jade bottle fell steadily into Xie Zhao's hands. The bottle was ice-cold, revealing the pure fluctuations of medicinal power.

Xie Zhao chuckled and uncorked the bottle without hesitation. A strange medicinal aroma, a blend of the fresh fragrance of plants and the aura of the annihilation of the stars, filled the air. He tilted his head back and took a large gulp, smacking his lips. "Mm! Strong enough! Junior Sister Xie Luo! I knew you loved me!"

Chu Linyuan looked at Xie Zhao's lively appearance that had recovered in an instant, then looked at the bottle of medicine in his hand, and his cold eyes softened slightly.

He said nothing more, turned, and walked towards the core of the talisman formation. He sat cross-legged and began to fully channel the still surging dragon spirit within him, combining it with the power of the Heart Talisman to achieve a deeper level of refinement and control. The dragon pattern on his left side slowly retreated in golden light as he adjusted his breathing, like a dormant beast.

"Dinner's ready!" Su Tang's clear voice interrupted the brief interlude. She directed Bai Xiaolu to bring a large pot of steaming meat porridge, rich in the aroma of meat and lightly scented with herbs, to the newly placed stone table in the center of the square.

The porridge soup was filled with crystal meat particles, emerald green grass leaves and tiny starlights. It was made from the soup base of the "Dragon and Phoenix Evil Nourishing Pot" left over from last night, mixed with freshly cooked spiritual rice, and added with several calming and strengthening herbs from the Sutang Medicinal Garden.

"Come on, come on! Energy porridge! Don't miss it if you're passing by!" Su Tang explained excitedly to the photo stone while serving the porridge, "Guys! Special from the Abyss! Same evil spirit as Senior Brother! Same talisman power as Second Brother! It'll refresh your mind, strengthen your body, and make you even more excited to buy couples! Give me a tip for a bigger bowl!"

Everyone sat around.

Chu Linyuan silently took the largest stone bowl handed to him by Su Tang. When his cold fingertips touched the warm wall of the bowl, he paused almost imperceptibly.

He looked down at the porridge in the bowl, where dark gold flowed and starlight floated. He glanced at Xie Zhao, who was holding the bowl next to him, grimacing because of the burn but breathing a sigh of satisfaction. He picked up the bowl and took a sip in silence.

The warm porridge slid down his throat, and the pure, gentle energy mixed with the delicate fragrance of the herbs spread out, soothing his internal organs and even seeming to ease the burning pain from the dragon pattern on his left side. His cold eyes flickered slightly above the rim of the bowl.

"Mmm! Delicious!" Xie Zhao exhaled a breath of hot air in satisfaction, his peach blossom eyes narrowed into slits. "Little Sugar Bean, your cooking skills are almost catching up with Junior Sister Luo! Did you add some...willpower to this porridge? Why does it feel like my whole body is warm and my soul feels comfortable after drinking it?"

Su Tang raised her chin proudly: "Of course! The God of Willpower personally injected Chu Xieai with a blessing aura! The effect is doubled!"

Tie Niu held up a stone bowl as big as a washbasin, gulped down half of it, and said in a deep voice, "It's warm... but a little bland... Second Brother, can you really draw that outhouse talisman you can never find? I want to try it on those grandsons of the Red Flame Sect..."

"Poof..." Luo Hongyi had just taken a sip of porridge and almost spit it out when she heard that. She glared at Tie Niu unhappily, "Stupid cow! You can't even shut your mouth while eating!"

Xie Zhaoze laughed heartily: "What a great idea! When I, Senior Brother, comprehend the "Star Evil Codex", I will make sure he can't even find his toes, let alone the toilet!"

Little White Deer sipped his porridge quietly, listening to the crowd's laughter. Moon-Eating Rabbit buried his head in his own bowl, slurping away the porridge.

Chu Linyuan drank the porridge quietly, and the corners of his cold mouth seemed to twitch upwards imperceptibly for a moment under the cover of the bowl.

He listened to Xie Zhaozhong's energetic laughter, and felt the dragon evil in his body gradually calming down under the dual effects of the hot porridge and the heart talisman. The ferocious dragon pattern on the left half of his body seemed to have a strange... warmth after the golden light was restrained.

Breakfast ended with Su Tang’s live broadcast and Tie Niu’s silly words.

Chu Linyuan put down his empty bowl, stood up, and walked towards the base of the talisman formation tower, which was just beginning to take shape. Xie Zhao also immediately put down his bowl, the Jinghong Talisman Pen slipped into his hand, and followed.

The two stood side by side at the tower's base. On the tower's surface, starlight trails and Immortal-Slaying Spear runes shone with a restrained luster in the morning light. The residual power of last night's devastating blow seemed to still linger within the cold meteorite iron.

"The Star Evil Codex, chapter on Attracting Stars and Tempering Evil." Xie Zhao looked at Chu Linyuan, his peach blossom eyes gleaming with the light of the talisman, no longer joking. "Resonating with Senior Brother's Dragon Evil may help channel the excessive energy in your body and feed it back to the foundation of the pagoda."

Chu Linyuan nodded slightly, saying nothing. He raised his left palm and gently pressed it against the cold meteorite surface of the tower base.

The tower's base trembled slightly! A dark golden dragon pattern lit up on its surface, instantly echoing the dragon pattern on his left hand!
