Chapter 7-After beating the young one, the old one comes
The "artwork" of the Red Fire Sect's young leader and the Jindan guardian who were frozen into ice sculptures in front of the Guixu Sect's mountain gate was brought back to the Red Fire Sect by another Jindan guard who escaped in a panic, along with a "bill" for 50,000 spirit stones.
The entire Chihuo Sect was like ice water being thrown into boiling oil, and it exploded in an instant!
Sect Master Chi Lieyang, a mid-Nascent Soul cultivator, sported red hair and beard, and a temper as fiery as the Red Sun True Fire he cultivated. Seeing his only son carried back, his body covered in black frost, his eyes glazed over like a living corpse, and then hearing the Jindan guard's exaggerated description of the Guixu Sect as a demonic den, particularly emphasizing the devious ways of Luo Hongyi and Bai Xiaolu, and the brutal tactics of Chu Linyuan and Xie Zhao, his fury threatened to tear the dome of the Chihuo Sect's main hall apart!
"Return! To the Ruins! Sect!" Chi Lieyang's roar shook the palace to dusty ground. Red flames swirled around him, burning and distorting the air. "A bunch of cowards! How dare you hurt my son! And insult my sect! I, Chi Lieyang, will not be a human being until I avenge this!"
He was about to gather his men and lead the sect's elite to destroy the God Burial Abyss and burn the Guixu Sect and that deadly place to ashes!
"Master, calm down! Master, please reconsider!" The Red Fire Sect's Grand Elder, a sinister-looking old man, hurried forward to dissuade him. While his cultivation wasn't as advanced as Chi Lieyang's, his mind was far more meticulous. "It's strange that the Guixu Sect could even gain a foothold deep within the God Burial Abyss! The young master and two Jindan guards were frozen... before they could even fight back. Their strength must be unfathomable! Especially that poisonous woman; her methods are truly bizarre! If we rush forward, we might... might end up in trouble!"
"Unfathomable? Bizarre?" Chi Lieyang's hair and beard stood on end, his eyes a fiery red. "No matter how unfathomable he is, could he be a monster who has reached the state of transformation?! No matter how bizarre he is, can he be able to withstand the power of my true red sun fire that can incinerate all poisons?! My Chihuo Sect has been roaming the outer reaches of the Burial God Abyss for a hundred years. How could we be frightened by a poor sect we've never even heard of?"
"Sect Master!" the Great Elder exclaimed anxiously, "The God Burial Abyss is treacherous and unpredictable, and the enemy has the advantage of terrain! Besides... don't forget our connection to 'over there'! If we lose too much strength in a moment of anger and affect the important events 'over there', the consequences will be..."
At the mention of "over there," Chi Lieyang's raging rage calmed down as if a bucket of ice water had been poured over him. A complex glint of fear and greed flashed in his eyes. Indeed, the Red Fire Sect's rise to prominence in this chaotic periphery of the Burial God Abyss was due to the support of an extremely powerful external force. The benefits promised by that party were enough to propel the Red Fire Sect to greater heights, even to the rank of a truly great sect! If the Guixu Sect ruined the events "over there," it would be a true catastrophe!
He took a few deep breaths, forcibly suppressing the murderous intent that surged within him. He spoke in a deep voice, "The Great Elder is right! I was impulsive! But this vengeance must be avenged! Send the order to contact the Black Wind Valley, the Poison Scorpion Sect, and the Rock Fortress, allies of ours, outside the Burial God Abyss! Tell them that the Guixu Sect, despite its low strength, is hiding ancient secret treasures and relying on geographical advantages and treacherous tactics to act arrogantly and domineeringly! They've injured the Young Master of the Chihuo Sect and insulted my fellow Daoists! I, Chi Lieyang, am willing to be the vanguard and invite all of you to join me in defeating this beast! The Chihuo Sect will not take a penny of the secret treasures we obtain; they will all belong to you! This is all for justice and to enhance the reputation of our fellow Daoists outside the Burial God Abyss!"
The Great Elder's eyes lit up: "Master, you are very clever! You are killing someone with a borrowed knife, driving the tiger to devour the wolf! All we have to do is sit back and reap the benefits! I'll do it right away!"
Chi Lieyang looked at his son's still stiff body, his eyes flashing coldly. "Guixu Sect? Wait until you're torn to pieces by those greedy wolves, and then I'll personally take your lives to avenge my son!"
Inside the Guixu Sect, Su Tang had finally used up the dozen or so low-level fire talismans Xie Zhao had donated. With Tie Niu's help, she'd finally cleared the ash, which resembled a thousand-year-old black ice. At the bottom of the pit, dark rock emerged, along with... a few unremarkable dark golden fragments, obscured by the thick layer of ash. Su Tang's face was pale with exhaustion, and her fingers were red from the cold, but she didn't pay much attention to it, simply sweeping the fragments into a corner.
These days, the atmosphere in the sect remains "peaceful".
Chu Linyuan practiced swordplay daily, unwaveringly amidst the threatening rain. His swordsmanship grew fiercer, the dark-gold dragon pattern on his right arm seemed even more distinct and vibrant, and the speed with which he channeled his shaky energy increased. Xie Zhao intensified his harassment, unleashing a constant stream of bizarre talismans—from a "thunder-inducing talisman" that could turn Chu Linyuan's hair into a mess (which instantly froze to pieces), to a slyly flattering talisman that he attempted to secretly affix to Chu Linyuan's back, inscribed with the words "Excellent Senior Brother" (which was obliterated by the threatening energy). The two, one cold as ice, the other passionate (and undeniably aggrieved), chased and fled, becoming a fixture of the Guixu Sect's morning scene.
Su Tang's photo stones have recorded countless wonderful moments:
- After Xie Zhao was frozen into an ice sculpture, Chu Linyuan "accidentally" tapped it with his sword sheath as he passed by, causing the ice to shatter. Xie Zhao sneezed and jumped out, accusing him of "murdering her husband." (Who is the husband? Second Brother, this delicate and frail person looks...)
Xie Zhao forced Chu Linyuan to brew a cup of spiritual tea, known as "the ultimate warming tea." Chu Linyuan drank it expressionlessly. Three breaths later, a chilling white aura emanated from his body (his evil spirit was out of control). Xie Zhao frantically drew talismans to suppress it, his eyebrows frosted by the cold. (Is this the best portable air conditioner for summer?)
- Chu Linyuan's fierce energy erupted during sword practice, tearing his already tattered cuffs, revealing his sleek forearms and the dragon pattern etched across them. Xie Zhao immediately pulled out his photo stone to snap a close-up of his face, only to be frozen by Chu Linyuan's fierce energy and forced to stand still for an incense stick. (Su Tang Classroom reminds everyone: Don't seek death, or you'll die.)
Behind every seemingly perilous pursuit and "punishment," Su Tang's psychic eyes could clearly "see" the chain of radiant light connecting the two of them, its light flowing, becoming more solid and warmer. Chu Linyuan's seemingly cold and murderous aura would subconsciously retract its sharpest edges when it touched Xie Zhao; and within the core runes of Xie Zhao's seemingly suicidal talismans, there was always a trace of extremely pure, protective golden spiritual power hidden.
That morning, Xie Zhao, recklessly holding up a talisman with a crooked heart pattern on it, approached Chu Linyuan, who was polishing the Frost Silence Sword, with a grin on his face. "Brother! We've newly developed the 'Ice Heart Melting Snow Talisman'! It's specifically designed to counter your ten-thousand-year-old icy constitution! Try it on! I guarantee you'll experience the tenderness of a tough guy and the melting of an iceberg!"
Chu Linyuan paused while wiping the sword, and without even raising his head, he coldly spat out one word: "Get lost."
"Don't be so cold!" Xie Zhao didn't give up. He moved his spiritual power at his fingertips and was about to stick the love talisman on Chu Linyuan's back. "Just once! Just once! I promise... Ouch!"
Chu Linyuan flipped his wrist, and the icy scabbard of the Frost Silence Sword slapped Xie Zhao's wrist with incredible precision! The force was not strong, but it was full of skill.
The love talisman flew out of his hand, spinning, and as luck would have it, it landed right on the forehead of the little white deer who was squatting in the corner, holding a rabbit and watching the fun with great interest... and that moon-eating rabbit in his arms!
White Deer: “?”
Moon Rabbit: "Guju?" (Ruby eyes stare at the strange piece of paper on its forehead)
Xie Zhao: "..." (smile froze)
Chu Linyuan: "..." (He stopped wiping the sword, and the corner of his mouth seemed to twitch very slightly)
Su Tang's photo stone accurately captured this dramatic scene, as well as Xie Zhao's instantly fallen expression and a crack that seemed to have broken through Chu Linyuan's icy face.
In this brief, eerie moment of silence—
Boom boom boom!!!
Without warning, the earth violently shook! Like a sleeping beast turning over! The entire ruined Guixu Sect's palace trembled, rubble and dust falling! An indescribable, dull, oppressive, ancient and ferocious aura rumbled from deep beneath the earth! It was as if some ominous creature, bound for eons, was awakening!
"Wow!" The little white deer exclaimed and hugged the equally agitated Moon-Eating Rabbit tightly in his arms.
Su Tang staggered and almost fell.
Luo Hongyi poked her head out of the kitchen, with dark green poisonous juice still dripping from the soup spoon.
Tie Niu rushed in from outside carrying his large basket, shouting in a muffled voice: "What's going on? What's going on? Is the earth dragon turning over?"
The playful smile on Xie Zhao's face instantly disappeared, and he looked down at his feet with sharp eyes.
Chu Linyuan suddenly clenched the Frost Sword, and the dark golden dragon pattern on his right arm instantly shone brightly, wriggling like a living thing. A strong feeling of desire and vigilance was transmitted to Xie Zhao along the chain of rosy light!
The tremors lasted for about three breaths before slowly subsiding. But the ferocious, heart-pounding surges emanating from deep underground were like a boulder dropped into a lake, their lingering resonance lingering in the hearts of every perceptive individual.
“Dragon Vein…” Xie Zhao muttered to himself, his expression somewhat solemn. “The dragon vein of the God Burial Abyss… is more turbulent than expected.”
Chu Linyuan remained silent, sheathing his sword. His icy gaze swept across the ground, as if penetrating the rock formations and glimpsing the turbulent undercurrents deep beneath the earth. The dragon pattern on his right arm still radiated a scorching light, as if echoing something.
Su Tang… Su Tang was numb. She just wanted to cling to someone, but why were the people in this sect so strange, and the sect itself even stranger? No matter how she thought about it, how could that scene just now not be an earthquake? She was numb, really numb.
One problem after another, another one arises.
"You rats of the Guixu Sect! Get out here and die!"
A roar filled with malice and fury exploded from outside the mountain gate like rolling thunder! The Nascent Soul pressure contained in the voice was like a tangible tsunami, fiercely impacting the Guixu Sect's already shaky protective "formation" (if the few broken stones and the poison powder casually sprinkled by Luo Hongyi were counted)!
Chi Lieyang, the leader of the Red Fire Sect, has arrived! He didn't come alone!
Outside the mountain gate, dozens of figures hovered in the dark, murderous sky. Besides the Red Fire Sect's elite troops, including the Jindan guard who had managed to escape, there were three distinct groups of men, each emitting a fierce and ferocious aura.
On the left, there is a group of monks wearing black tights, with cold whirlwinds surrounding their bodies and eyes as sharp as hawks. They are the "Black Wind Valley" famous for their speed and assassination!
On the right side, there is a group of monks wearing colorful poisonous robes, with strange auras, and some even have poisonous insects crawling on their bodies. Their eyes are vicious. They are the infamous "Poison Scorpion Sect"!
At the very back, there is a group of strong men with extremely burly figures, muscular bodies and skin that has the luster of rocks. Their aura is steady and heavy, like moving mountains. They are the "Rock Castle" that excels in defense and strength!
The four major factions joined forces, with nearly ten Jindan cultivators surrounding the three Nascent Soul Early Stage cultivators, Chi Lieyang, the Black Wind Valley Master, and the Poison Scorpion Sect Master, in addition to dozens of elite Foundation Establishment cultivators! A powerful spiritual pressure mingled with murderous energy, causing the space in front of the Guixu Sect's mountain gate to distort slightly! The murderous aura filled the air, obscuring the sky and the sun!
Chi Lieyang stood before the crowd, his red hair flying and his body ablaze with crimson flames. He unleashed the might of a mid-Nascent Soul stage without reservation, like a raging, blood-soaked sun! His gaze fixed fixedly on the direction of the ruined hall, his voice as cold as ice: "Chu Linyuan! Xie Zhao! And that vicious woman! Get out here! Today, I, Chi Lieyang, will slaughter the Guixu Sect with blood and avenge my son! I will grind you all to dust!"
Inside the hall, the atmosphere instantly...relaxed.
Su Tang's face turned pale with fear, and her hand, clutching the image stone, was shaking. Four major factions joining forces! Three Nascent Souls! This scene... was terrifying!
Luo Hongyi weighed the soup spoon and glanced at the crowd outside, especially the people from the Poison Scorpion Sect. A hint of sarcasm appeared on the corner of his mouth: "Tsk, a bunch of rotten fish and shrimp, do you think you are worthy of using poison?"
Tie Niu scratched his head, looking at the group of muscular men in Rock Castle, and muttered honestly: "They seem to be quite strong? I wonder if they can help me open up wasteland and farm..."
The solemnity on Xie Zhao's face had turned into a playful smile. He poked Chu Linyuan, who was standing beside him with an icy breath: "Senior brother, did you hear that? They specifically named us two and want to grind us to ashes! And Senior Sister Luo too! What should I do? I'm so scared!" He said he was afraid, but his peach blossom eyes flashed with an eager light.
Bai Xiaolu looked at them and laughed: "They really think highly of us. There are only a few of us, but they came in such large numbers..."
Chu Linyuan didn't even raise his eyelids, as if the dark coalition forces outside were just annoying flies. His cold eyes swept over Su Tang: "Go, open the door."
"Huh?" Su Tang was stunned. Open... open the door? Let them in?
"Open." Chu Linyuan's voice left no room for doubt.
Su Tang swallowed her saliva, and under Xie Zhao's encouraging gaze (watching the show), she walked tremblingly to the broken temple door that had been gnawed by the Moon-Eating Rabbit until only the door frame remained, and symbolically pushed the air.
"The door... the door is open..." Her voice was as soft as a mosquito's.
"Hmph! Playing tricks!" Seeing the other party's arrogance, Chi Lieyang was furious! He waved his hand, pointing the long red sword at Guixu Sect, "Kill them! Leave no one alive!"
"kill--!"
The coalition of the four major factions roared with deafening fury, like a flood bursting through a dam, carrying with it a variety of spiritual lights, poisonous miasma, wind blades, and stone spears, rushing towards the dilapidated, wide-open sect! The murderous aura instantly engulfed the entire Guixu Sect.
Su Tang looked at the crumbling sect plaque and asked, "Can't so many of you squeeze in? This sect is already very dilapidated!"
Rushing in the front were several Jindan cultivators from the Black Wind Valley who were good at surprise attacks. Their figures transformed into black afterimages, and their speed was extremely fast, aiming directly at Su Tang, who seemed defenseless at the door of the hall, and Tie Niu, who was standing behind the door frame!
"Junior sister, get out of the way!" Xie Zhaoqing shouted, but his movements were slow and he didn't seem to be in a hurry.
Just when those black afterimages were about to rush into the palace gate!
The iron ox who had been carrying a basket and standing next to the door frame seemed to be knocked back by the surging crowd and "accidentally" tripped over a protruding rock.
"Ouch!" He let out a simple cry of surprise, and his huge body staggered suddenly!
As he stumbled, his big foot, which was wearing straw sandals and covered in mud, naturally and heavily stepped on the ground!
Boom——!!!
A deep, dull roar erupted, as if an ancient giant had crushed the earth!
With Tie Niu's foot as the center, a visible, khaki-colored, terrifying shock wave containing great wild power erupted like a raging sea, spreading wildly in a circular shape in all directions!
Boom boom boom!!!
The Black Wind Valley Jindan cultivators at the forefront bore the brunt of the impact! Their prided speed was utterly utterly shattered by this overwhelming force! Their protective auras shattered like paper! Without even a moment to scream, their bodies were struck by invisible hammers, instantly twisting and deforming. Bones cracked like popcorn! They were sent flying backward like sacks, gushing blood mixed with visceral fragments in mid-air. By the time they hit the ground, they were no longer human, their lifeless remains extinguished!
The shockwaves continued unabated! Following closely behind were the poison cultivators of the Poison Scorpion Sect, the physical cultivators of the Rock Fortress, and the disciples of the Red Fire Sect... as if they had encountered an invisible tsunami! The Foundation Establishment cultivators were blown away and torn apart like grass! The Golden Core cultivators were like fallen leaves in the wind, their protective auras flickering wildly, blood gushing from their mouths, and they stumbled and retreated violently!
The entire area in front of the mountain gate felt as if it had been ruthlessly swept by an invisible, massive hand! Within the dozens of feet of the Guixu Sect's broken temple gate, the ground seemed to have been plowed through, cracking, rolling, and collapsing inch by inch! A massive, deep crater, like a meteorite impact, formed! The coalition's charge was abruptly interrupted! Men and horses fell, screams rang out, and the scene was a shambles!
The silence was even more complete than when the dragon vein was shaking just now!
Behind the coalition forces, the ferocity and murderous intent on the faces of Chi Lieyang, the Lord of the Black Wind Valley, and the Lord of the Poison Scorpion Sect froze in an instant, and were replaced by boundless horror and disbelief!
A kick! Just a stumbling kick!
Instantly killing dozens of Foundation Establishment cultivators! Seriously injuring several Golden Core cultivators! Completely disintegrating the combined forces of the four major factions!
What the hell is this monster power?! That stupid, dumb, rough-looking farmer carrying a basket?!
Tie Niu steadied himself, brushed the dust off his trouser legs, and looked at the messy, hellish scene before him. A simple, apologetic smile appeared on his face, and he said in a muffled voice:
"I'm sorry, everyone. The ground is too slippery and I can't stand firmly."
He scratched the back of his head and added, his tone sincere:
"Are you guys... not hurt?"
