Chapter 78 The County Princess is Seriously Ill

Perhaps he caught a cold, perhaps he was overworked, or perhaps his emotions were too volatile; in any case, Shang Shaoyan fell ill after returning from Qingcheng Mountain and has been lying in bed for three days.

As Bai Lu wiped Shang Shaoyan's face, she said with concern, "Princess, you've been sick for three days now, and you're not getting better..."

Shang Shaoyan coughed, and her originally pale cheeks flushed red. Her voice was also very hoarse. Shang Shaoyan always cared about her image and felt that she couldn't let others hear such an unpleasant voice, so she would avoid speaking if possible.

Actually, she wasn't seriously ill; she was just too lazy to move. Fortunately, she had taken care of most of her business, so she simply lay in bed with a clear conscience.

This led Cheng Chu, Xu Xian, and Tai Jian to believe that Shang Shaoyan was so ill that he could neither speak nor get up. Cheng Chu was so frightened that he sent a letter to Shang Yunlan by carrier pigeon overnight, secretly fearing that Shang Shaoyan might die from his illness.

Seeing that Shang Shaoyan still didn't speak, Bai Lu couldn't help but feel worried—if the county princess continued to remain silent and motionless, those few idiots, like Xu Xian, might start preparing for her funeral.

Shang Shaoyan glanced at Bai Lu weakly and said in a muffled voice, "I'm fine. I'll be almost recovered after a few more doses of medicine."

Bai Lu chuckled: "Isn't the county princess the one who hates taking medicine the most? A few days ago, I had to coax her to drink it."

Shang Shaoyan gave Bai Lu an annoyed look: "How could anyone like to drink medicine?"

She paused and sighed, "My brother drinks so much medicine every day. He doesn't say it, but I know he's suffering. Now he's finally better because we found a miracle doctor... I hope my brother's illness will improve soon."

As she continued reading, she fell asleep again. Bai Lu tucked her in, then, following the doctor's instructions, let the room get some fresh air, lit the silver frost charcoal, and made sure Shang Shaoyan wouldn't catch a cold again before tiptoeing out of the room.

Shengjing.

When the servant Qingzhu brought Cheng Chu's letter to Shang Yunlan, Shang Yunlan was still discussing making floral scented soap with a merchant.

This businessman is from Suzhou. His surname is Qian. He is shrewd and good at business. He is also charitable. Shang Yunlan investigated him from multiple angles and found that apart from being a little timid, Mr. Qian is a good partner.

“These days, both men and women value lasting fragrance, but if we only make floral soaps that can last a long time, they probably won’t sell well.” As he spoke, Mr. Qian cautiously glanced at Shang Yunlan. Seeing that she showed no signs of anger, he boldly continued, “So we also need to put a lot of effort into the appearance of these floral soaps.”

Shang Yunlan nodded: "Mr. Qian is right. I think we can make it transparent and then embed the whole flower inside..."

The two discussed the craftsmanship involved, as well as the materials and manpower required. Before they knew it, it was noon. Qingzhu saw that Boss Qian had left, so she took the pigeon to see Shang Yunlan.

He and Cheng Chu had already agreed that if it concerned Shang Shaoyan, they would send a message by carrier pigeon as quickly as possible.

Shang Yunlan took the letter from the pigeon's leg; it contained only four words: "The county princess is seriously ill."

Turning it over, Shang Yunlan frowned upon seeing the date three days prior.

He wanted to go to Shu Prefecture in person, but he was afraid that Shang Shaoyan would have recovered by then, since there was still a divine doctor there; but if he didn't go, he was really worried. After weighing the two options, Shang Yunlan was at a loss for what to do.

Seeing her master pacing back and forth in the hall, his brows furrowed with anxiety, Qingzhu felt a pang of unease: "My lord, has something happened to the county princess?"

Shang Yunlan rubbed the bridge of her nose, feeling a bit of a headache: "An'an seems to be seriously ill. I'm wondering whether or not to go to Shuzhou."

He was about to say something when he heard Qiao Xiuyu's annoying voice from outside: "Is the county princess sick?"
