Where it all started

Where it all started

As I sat up, I suddenly felt dizzy and weak in my limbs.

Luanbu didn't know how long he had slept in a daze. He woke up several times during this period, but most of the time it was in dim light. He was quickly fed some water and food and then forced to lie down again.

He couldn't tell how much time had passed, but it was clear that Mr. Fukuzawa didn't want him to get involved in Yokohama's affairs. But even without him, Yokohama wouldn't be destroyed.

In a fuzzy state, Ranpo remembered that he seemed to have seen Dazai Osamu before. The guy looked serious, which was rare, and seemed to have whispered something, but he was too far away to hear clearly.

He woke up again in a clean and bright room. There was a full supply of food and water on the table, and even a few books in case he got bored.

The door was not locked, but he had no intention of going out.

After sitting on the bed and daydreaming for a long time, his frown finally relaxed. With a barely perceptible sigh, the resentment that had been pent up in his heart gradually dissipated.

The green eyes looked at the open book on the table, but did not read a single word until footsteps were heard outside the room, and the owner of the eyes turned around to look.

The person who walked in was one of the hunting dogs, Ye Caiju. Seeing the calm smile on his face, Luanbu knew that the matter had probably been resolved.

The fact that Tiao Ye Cai Ju was still wearing the military uniform showed that the hound's status had not been shaken. In other words, Fukuchi had not "been in trouble", which might be what Mr. Fukuzawa called "selfishness".

"Don't you have any questions?" Tiaoye Caiju sat down on another chair, and then said thoughtfully, "Or did you guess it in just one minute?"

The person in front of me hid the situation very well, so the information I could get was very limited. But if I wanted to, I could talk to him a few more times and he would be able to tell me the whole story.

But Ranpo just lowered his head and looked at the book, saying calmly: "If Mr. Fukuzawa doesn't want me to know, then I don't need to know."

During his coma, a hand kept touching his forehead, as if to check if his body temperature had dropped. Fukuzawa knew from somewhere that people who did not belong to this world should not interfere too much.

Shika-nin does not follow this, but Fukuzawa takes it very seriously.

Tiaoye Caiju chuckled and placed one hand on the table: "Actually, if you want to know, I can disobey the captain's orders and tell you."

"As a thank you for coming into this world."

Luanbu finally raised his head. The person in front of him couldn't see with his eyes, but his other senses seemed to be very sensitive.

"No."

All he had to do was stay here and wait until it was all over, and Fu Ze would take care of the rest.

Tiaoye Caiju seemed a little disappointed that he failed to "tell the secret", but after a brief chat, he started to busy himself with his own things.

The sun shines through the window, and the light gradually moves from one end of the table to the other. In the evening, the dusk sky is very gorgeous, and even the clouds are dyed red.

"Would you like a dessert, Luanbu?"

A voice said very softly, as if not wanting to disturb him, but from the noise he deliberately made, it was still hard not to notice.

"Dazai." Ranpo turned around and sat down again, "Where's 005?"

Dazai Osamu smiled but said nothing. He just put down what he was holding and said, "What you need now is rest."

Luanbu did not refuse the dessert, but he just couldn't taste it and felt it was bland.

The two of them tacitly agreed not to mention the last incident. Dazai Osamu tapped the table lightly with one hand and was interrupted before he opened his mouth.

The person in front of me seemed to have returned to his previous state, biting the spoon with butter on his cheeks: "Wait! Don't mention something unpleasant while eating."

Dazai paused, then smiled helplessly: "Yes, yes, please have it, Ranpo-sama."

Dazai was a little surprised when he heard what happened from Fyodor. He was sarcastic but he had already betrayed the trust, and the desserts he bought were a small compensation.

He thought that the other Ranbu would also be suspicious of him. If so, Ranbu should have guessed it the moment he disappeared.

But he didn't expect that Ranbu trusted him so much.

Emotions that hadn't appeared in a long time emerged, so after hastily dealing with them and handing over the rest of the finishing touches to other people in the detective agency, Dazai Osamu slipped away quietly.

The two of them stopped talking, but the desserts they accepted were "forgiveness". After eating, Luan Bu Hu Luan wiped his mouth and then asked again, "Where's 005?"

Dazai Osamu's smile faded slightly, and he said meaningfully: "We will find a way."

So don't force yourself, even if it takes a little more time, they will find a way to rescue themselves.

But Ranpo's expression was very persistent, so Dazai just sighed and turned to look at the door.

The person who had been standing outside the door pushed it open and walked in. Fukuzawa was holding a pure iron cage in his hand, and Nakajima followed quietly behind.

Those eyes regained their former clarity, presumably having been freed from the vampire infection.

"Why don't you speak?" Shika Ninja asked.

At this distance, he could definitely hear 005 speaking. But unlike last time, that guy was very quiet.

It was dark inside the pitch-black iron box, but the bright cat eyes were flickering.

"I'm sorry." 005 suddenly said, "It doesn't matter if the mission fails. I won't erase your memory again."

"Do you know what an apology is?" Shika Ninja asked back, "It's just because of the current situation that you'll be let go if you bow your head."

"No!" 005's voice was a little higher. "I am very smart. I erased your memory before because... if you don't start over, those worlds will collapse."

"It would be good for both of us if I forget everything."

Lu Ren was silent for a moment. He understood that the forgotten memories seemed to be irretrievable. But he also understood that everything had to start over again. The people around him had already forgotten those things, so what was the point of remembering them?

"If you fail the mission, then you fail! The world after that is up to you to choose." 005's voice was very weak. "Lu Ninja..."

I can’t say I feel any resentment. The strong negative emotions I had before seem to have calmed down now.

Just as he thought before, 005 was indeed stupid. He was indeed not like a "system" composed of a string of data. He had rich emotions, but was too naive.

If it were him, he would have completely eliminated the "culprit" the first time the mission failed and the world collapsed, instead of erasing his memory and giving him a chance to overthrow himself.

"Let him out." Ranbu closed his eyes and said to Fukuzawa.

The latter frowned in some concern, but nodded. Nakajima stepped forward, and his sharp tiger claws neatly cut through the layers of blockade.

The fur seemed to have dulled, with drooping ears and a low tail.

"Humph, you will pay the price for your stupidity sooner or later."

It was a crumpled piece of paper, with words written all over the front. But before I could see what was written, a hand wrapped in a bandage covered it.

A pen was handed over, and Luanbu unconsciously grabbed the soft fur on 005's abdomen.

His hands were cold, and 005, as a hand warmer, was very obedient.

Before the pen fell, Ranpo looked up at Dazai Osamu. It's not that he didn't care about the situation of the other members of the detective agency, but he couldn't speak.

After noticing his thoughts, Dazai Osamu just shook his head lightly. Edogawa Ranpo had speculated that the less you participate in this world, the less side effects you will suffer.

So it’s not that he doesn’t want to say it, it’s just that the situation doesn’t allow it.

The pen tip fell, and after writing a few words fluently, Lu Ren stopped writing and said: "That's it."

A black light flashed, and Dazai closed his eyes. After a gust of wind, he opened his eyes again.

There was nothing in front of him, and the people in his memory seemed to have never appeared. But he would remember, and so would everyone in the detective agency.

After a long while, Dazai Osamu stood up and walked towards the table. He picked up the crumpled paper, and the content written on it surprised him a little.

The torn page reads: [May there be no war in this world forever.]

A loud clang will wake you up no matter how deep your sleep is.

Ranbu opened his eyes and looked towards the light. From the familiar high-rise perspective, the blue sky and white clouds seemed to be just around the corner.

At the source of the loud noise, the cowcat withdrew its claws with a guilty look on its face.

[Meow?] 005 pretended to be innocent, but still withdrew his claws awkwardly.

The two looked at each other for a long time, and finally Shikanin held his forehead helplessly. In this short time, the door was pushed open from the outside.

Fukuzawa Yukichi, who looked aggressive, quickly locked onto 005. Although he was not holding a weapon, that look was enough to kill.

005, who had no time to escape, could only run towards Lu Shinobi. At this moment, he could not care about what happened before. Fearing death, he hid his head in Lu Shinobi's collar.

〖Help, help!〗

Seeing 005's actions, Fukuzawa Yukichi became more and more angry. He drew his sword without hesitation, as if he wanted to kill him directly.

The furry head kept moving towards his chest, making him itch. He shrank his neck, but finally reached out and hugged 005.

"I'll take care of this, Chief."

The change in address calmed Fukuzawa Yukichi down a bit, but his frown remained. He was worried that his subordinate, the child he had watched grow up, would be fooled again.

The two fought to grab the cat. Fukuzawa Yukichi held Ranbu's arm tightly with one hand and put down his knife with the other hand to press on his shoulder. Seeing this, 005 went deeper and Ranbu huddled up helplessly.

Dazai, dressed in black, stood quietly, watching the situation become stalemate before he slowly stepped forward and said, "Why don't you leave it to me, Chief? I will take good care of this guy."

〖No no!〗

That Dazai Osamu is no pushover! Falling into his hands is more torturous than death!

But Fukuzawa Yukichi insisted, and Luanbu had no choice but to compromise. When he handed 005 to Dazai, the guy burst into tears. But soon he was lifted up by the back of the neck, and he magically calmed down.

Yoseno Akiko walked in with a cup of tea, looking puzzled. She didn't know what was going on, so she just raised her hand and asked, "Ah, the leader and Dazai are here too, would you like a cup of tea?"

The atmosphere eased slightly, but at this moment the door was pushed open by a stumbling figure.

Nakajima Atsushi was panting and his eyes widened. After seeing Ranbu intact, he couldn't control himself and rushed forward.

This time he did not care about his superior's identity, but hugged Luanbu tightly. His face was immediately covered with tears and snot, and his voice was choked and unclear.

The huge force made Ranbu feel dizzy, but he still raised his hand without saying a word and gently patted Nakajima Atsushi's trembling back.

Looking at this lively scene, Akiko Yoshino shook her head helplessly.
