Chapter 51 Blood-Red Eyes

I tried to wipe the tears from my right eye with my left hand, but as soon as I took my hand away, I felt liquid dripping from my nose.

I quickly wiped away my tears with my arm, and when I looked down, oh my god, there was blood all over the floor.

Moreover, my left hand was covered in blood, and the impact almost broke my nose.

I hurriedly reached into my pocket for tissues. Ever since that one time when there was no toilet paper in the bathroom, I've made it a habit to keep a few sheets in my pocket.

I took out the paper, first plugged both nostrils, and then used the remaining paper to wipe the blood off my left hand.

Damn it, I lost everything in this battle with the big black cat.

Just then, I suddenly remembered what I had vaguely seen earlier. I held my phone up and scanned the area, and found that there was a door in front of me with a large brass lock on it, which was still stained with the blood from my nose.

My head buzzed instantly, and I jumped up in fright. I was about to turn around and run back when, as soon as I moved my right foot, I felt like I stepped on something hairy, smooth, and warm. I lost my balance instantly and fell to the ground with a thud, throwing my phone away in the process.

I felt a burning pain in my buttocks. Fortunately, I managed to abandon my phone in the moment and brace myself with my hands on the ground. Otherwise, my head wouldn't have been so lucky, and I wouldn't be sitting in this position.

The phone fell about a meter in front of me. Luckily, the back of the phone was facing up and the light was still on, otherwise I would have been in the dark.

Just then, a large black furry creature slowly walked past me, its tail swishing back and forth, and it would occasionally turn its head to glance at me.

I finally know what it was that made me trip and fall—it was this wretched beast.

I was angry, but all I wanted to do was leave this terrifying place. The pain all over my body made it impossible for me to stand up.

The big black cat continued to make that sound like a baby crying and laughing, and slowly disappeared into the night. The sound grew farther and farther away from me, more and more ethereal, until I couldn't hear it at all.

Everything around me seemed to fall silent at that moment, and I could only hear the frantic beating of my own heart.

I struggled for a bit, but found that I still couldn't stand up. I guess I'll have to rest for a while.

But I really didn't want to stay in this godforsaken place for even a second longer. About 1.5 meters in front of me, I saw that dilapidated wooden door. My phone had just fallen in front of the door, and the big brass lock was still swaying slightly.

etc.

I suddenly realized something: I remembered that the copper lock was stained with a lot of my blood just now, but how come there was only a little bit left in the blink of an eye?

Driven by fear and curiosity, I fixed my gaze on the large brass lock.

Then, I saw a scene that terrified me to the extreme.

I discovered that my blood was being absorbed little by little by the large bronze lock.

My eyes widened, and my whole body began to tremble. How could a copper lock absorb fresh blood?

Just then, a cold wind blew in.

I shivered from the cold. The wooden door creaked as if a small crack had opened, and the brass lock on it was still swaying. I could vaguely see a faint red light flashing through the crack.

My heart was pounding in my chest, and cold sweat was pouring down my back. If it were broad daylight, I might not be so scared, but it was nighttime, and such a strange thing had happened.

I checked myself and found that my whole body wasn't numb as much anymore, and I could even use my hands again.

I gritted my teeth, braced myself with my hands, and stood up. Just as I was about to turn around and run away, I realized that my phone was still lying in front of the wooden door.

Without my phone providing light, I probably wouldn't have been able to escape, so I didn't hesitate at all. With a death-defying resolve, I took two or three steps forward, reached the wooden door, bent down, and picked up my phone.

Just as I raised my hand to stand up, I was forced to take another close look at that gap.

But that one glance terrified me. I thought I saw another eye through the crack, a blood-red eye, staring intently at me.

I didn't have the courage to look him in the eye, and I wasn't sure if I was hallucinating. I picked up my phone, turned around, and ran forward like crazy.

The whistling wind and the frantic footsteps of someone running filled my ears.

A short while later, I returned to my little house, slammed the door shut, and locked the door from the inside.

I was panting heavily, my whole body was trembling, and I was soaked in sweat. I was sure that I was sweating more cold sweat than hot sweat.

I walked to the bedside and plopped down on it. Although my buttocks were still a little sore, I didn't care about that at the moment.

Chasing after the big black cat, I inexplicably ended up in front of the hut by the wall and crashed into the door, which had a blood-eating brass lock and blood-red eyes through the cracks.

I shook my head hard. I wasn't sure if it was real, but subconsciously I believed it was. The red light I saw twice, and the copper lock that drank blood—perhaps there really was something terrifying inside that little house.

Looking back now, it seems that the reason I went there was because those two big black cats deliberately led me there.

And the first time I hit it with a broomstick, it inexplicably disappeared right under my nose. I was angry at the time and didn't think about it carefully, but now when I think back on it, it's really creepy.

What kind of cat makes that eerie sound? If it belonged to someone else, it would probably have been beaten to death long ago.

Moreover, this big black cat is very intelligent. It led me there just like a person. What was its purpose in doing this? Did it want me to break down the wooden door so that the things inside could come out?

And those two big black cats, they're probably those dirty things too.

Just as I was still in shock, my phone rang, which startled me as well.

I picked it up and saw that it was a call from Tong Liu. My hand trembled as I slid to the right to answer the call.

"Hey, Changming, are you at the courier station right now?" Tong Liu's tired voice came through the phone.

I composed myself and answered softly, "Yes, at the courier station."

"Damn it, I was almost off work when a resident's light suddenly went out, keeping me busy until now, I'm exhausted." Tong Liu complained a few times on the other end of the phone, then continued, "It hasn't started yet, right? I'm coming over to your place now."

"Not yet, you...you shouldn't come any closer." I really didn't want Tong Liu to get involved. Xu Huihui was already scary enough, and now there might be someone even more ferocious.

"What nonsense are you talking about? You're my brother, if I don't protect you, who will? Alright, that's enough, it's settled then, I'm coming over to your place now." Tong Liu hung up the phone as soon as he finished speaking.

As I listened to the dial tone on the phone, a warmth suddenly filled my heart. My brother Tong Liu, no matter what danger I encountered, as long as he had a breath left, would always face it with me, even if it was facing such terrifying filth.
